UPDATE: 9 PEOPLE SHOT, ONE CRITICAL – Active shooter taken down by cops at Houston mall

An active shooter at a Houston mall this morning shot at least 6 or 7 people before being taken down by cops. We’re not sure the extent of the injuries yet:

NYDN – Multiple people were injured in an early-morning shooting near a shopping center in southwest Houston, according to police and local media reports.

Shots rang out before 7 a.m. local time.

Police reported an active shooter situation in a shopping center near the corner of Weslayan and Bissonnet streets.

The suspected shooter was shot by cops, and authorities don’t believe any other suspects were involved in the attack, police confirmed.

The conditions of the shooter and victims haven’t been revealed.

One witness, speaking to ABC station KTRK-TV, said he heard “over 100 shots” fired – including AK-47 and AR-15 gunfire.

It was “steady shooting back and forth” between police and the suspect, the man said.

WASHINGTON EXAMINER – Police in Houston, Texas, have shot dead a black man who they say opened fire at a strip mall and wounded at least nine people.

According to police, the shooting involved “a lawyer” who had issues with his law firm, Martha Montalvo, Houston police said during a briefing Monday morning. No other details were offered.

At least nine people were wounded when the shooter, a black male with a revolver, opened fire at 6:30 a.m. local time. An HPD bomb squad was called to the scene after a suspicious vehicle was found nearby.

The wounded people have been transported to area hospitals, police said. At least one is in critical condition.
