Allen West commemorates Black History Month by telling the truth about Republicans and Black history

This is just one of the reasons I love Allen West so much. He is fearless. And in this floor speech commemorating Black History Month, West seeks to correct the lies and propaganda from those on the left by telling the real historical account of how Republicans have always stood up for the rights of African Americans, from the past all the way to the present.

Allen West says that Republicans have always been the party of free men, and starting with Josiah T Walls, he tells of how Republicans have always been on the side of freeing the slaves, giving them equal protection under the law and giving them the right to vote. Here are just a few things he notes:

Regarding the fourteenth amendment, he says a little known fact is that every vote in favor of granting citizenship to blacks were by Republicans and every vote against were from Democrats.

And when it came to the 15th amendment that guaranteed blacks the right to vote, he concedes that a few Republicans didn’t vote for the proposal, abstaining because they felt it didn’t go far enough. But once again, he says Democrats voted against it and when it passed anyway, it was the Democrats who used poll taxes and literacy tests to intimidate blacks from voting.

And there’s a whole lot more. This is a MUST WATCH:

I can’t say enough how much I love this guy. It’s really sad that the people he really needs to reach won’t listen–they’re too entrenched on Uncle Sam’s Plantation or so totally defined by race that they close their ears and their minds.

    • virginiagentleman1

I’m sure you meant to say, “Uncle Scam” didn’t you?!!!

      • tvlgds

Of course, I did! Thanks for the correction! 😉

        • virginiagentleman1

Swipe away, my friend! I swiped it from a segment on FBC this morning!

          • tvlgds

            Kewl! Thanks! 🙂

      • toongoon

LOL. Uncle Scam. Good one VG1.

        • virginiagentleman1

Sure wish I could take credit for it, TG. As I remarked to tvlgds, I swiped it from a segment on Fox Business earlier today! It seemed SOOO appropiate for our socialist government these days! ( Does that make me a klepto?)

          • tvlgds

Nope, it’s public domain! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

          • toongoon

Nah, I guess we can let you get have it! 🙂

    • bobemakk

You are so right. The African Americans voted for Obama because he was the same enthnicity and for no other reason. They made it a race issue. They are politically uneducated and didn’t care about anything else. If Obama is re-elected and it is looking better and better for him, God help US! Our deficit is climbing every hour because of Obamas spending. His stimulus did nothing. He doesn’t even know how to cut back. Billions can be saved if they worked on cutting the pork.

I am not a racist and I would vote for Allen West in a heartbeat and I even liked Herman Cain, and yes I am white. Any republican nominee would be smart to pick West or even Cain as their VP.

      • tvlgds

They voted for him because he’s gonna pay dey rent, buy dey gas, etc. with Obama money that he get from his stash! I heard it myself! This administration has set race relations back more than 50 yrs. besides destroying the economy and blaming Bush. The fricking Democrat CONGRESS screwed up the economy.

I’m no racist either, and I was backing Cain before the trumped up stories ran him off–the lamestream and liberals had to make sure a CONSERVATIVE black man didn’t stand a chance. I’d back Allen West in a New York minute, and I’d even work on his campaign here in TX. I’ve never done that before but I believe in Allen West!

        • Verreauxii

You know it’s bad when you begin your argument by disclaiming your racism. Note how you intentionally mangle the English language when referring to Black Americans and play the usual welfare archetype to depict them. Yeah…you are really NOT a racist.

        • I don’t think it was the media, but rather the cavalcade of white women who kept parading out to accuse Herman Cain of sexual improprieties that derailed his candidacy… that and the fact he had no organization, no demonstrated knowledge of anything taking place on the global stage and a tax plan that didn’t hold up to economic scrutiny. He was good for a catchphrase but substantively lacking.

I’m no racist but has anyone heard of personal responsibility?

          • I’m pretty sure it was because he was the dumbest person who had ever run for office…. probably ever. He understood near to nothing about anything and it was painfully obvious. How is this even debatable?

      • Verreauxii

“You are so right. The African Americans voted for Obama because he was the same enthnicity and for no other reason.”

You voted for Bush solely because he was white…using your own incredibly asinine logic.

        • No, people did not vote for bush because he was white. Every other candidate was white. I wanted Huckabee. No person came out with that bush was the choice of whites. Lots of people, even his loyal hollywood acolytes, said they did. Race had everything to do with his campagin, and everything to do with the defence of his term, except for “it is really George bush’s fault when something bad happens” . Verreau… you sound like a frenchie. Ain’t you gotta protest or gay animal rights meeting to be at?

          • Verreauxii

“No, people did not vote for bush because he was white.”

Hahaha….thank you for destroying the idiotic premise the other guy used. Blacks didn’t vote for Obama because he was black! They voted for him because he was the Democratic candidate….you know, the same way they voted for those other “black” Democratic candidates by 90% margins — Kerry and Gore! Now go to bed. Lesson has ended.

BTW….If Allen West ran for President as the GOP candidate against a white Democrat, he would not get 5% of the black vote. Just saying….

        • Didds

Lest we forget McCain’s selection of Palin. I’d love to hear any cogent argument that pits her as a viable candidate for any other reason than her gender. Many woman took her selection as a blatant slap in the face because she was so clearly not ready or credible and any sort of vetting process would have bore that out.

Obama was not the first African American candidate. His message of change resonated with the majority of voting Americans Black and otherwise. Deal with it.

      • Didds

I’m sorry, did you poll “The African Americans,” because I don’t remember speaking to you. Face it, the GOP had a poor candidate last election and lost because of it. African Americans make up 13% of the population and sadly, for lots of reasons, have a poor track record showing up for the polls. Even if every single African American voted for Obama, that would not have been enough to elect him.

As for this election, look at the GOP candidates, they are a joke. Anyone who is honest will tell you that the resistance to Romney is because of his religion, not his politics. Beyond that, the GOP primary has been a joke. You’ve got Newt bashing Mitt for firing people (when has the GOP been against capitolism? Isn’t firing people the right of the business owner?) Is this the first year that they’ve counted votes? Why are there so many vote counting inaccuracies? “The election returns from precincts may have gone into my spambox” come on man. When this circus comes to an end, the winner will be weary, beaten down and broke. So when the president does win, rather than blame somebody else, look at your own corner. You have at least 5 more formidable candidates on the sideline waiting to toss their hats into the ring for 2016. Last election, like this one, the Obama campaign was better organized, better financed and on message.

Lastly, clearly on this post you’re amongst people who in large part think like you. I wonder why you felt the need to say that you’re not racist. I’d never call your willingness to lump all African Americans into one set of thinking racist. Ignorant and uninformed sure, but not racist. Maybe you know something I don’t.

  • I had to pause my Rush Limbaugh internet radio to listen to the great Allen West. Glad I did.

HEY FOX BUSINESS NETWORK! You cancelled some pretty good shows this week. Need ratings? Then offer Allen West, JC Watts, and Alfonzo Rachel a program on FBN centered on successful Americans in business, especially those success stories that go against the popular culture.

    • Amy

They could interview Thomas Sowell, Charles Payne, Star Parker & Angela McGlowan – just to name a few ~

      • Exactly! Funny how the Cosby Show is still today the only show about a black family that did not succumb to the liberal view of how a black family should behave. All the silly stereotypes about black people all come from liberal democrats. That is why great Americans like Charles Payne, Star Parker, Allen West, etc. are considered “Uncle Tom”s. Not because they go against the black culture, but because they go against the liberal view of what the black culture means.

Case in point is ebonics. That is a term the liberals tried to force down our throats. The term is incorrect. I agree that there is a cultural language that is so full of slang that it makes learning difficult. BUT, it is not a black cultural language. It is an URBAN language. The term should have been “urbonics”. More white urban kids naturally speak “urbonics” than black suburban or rural kids. Heck, even rap and the hip hop culture is not black, it’s urban.

But it is the liberal insistence that blacks are “different”, different enough to have their own language, that they become “surprised” when a black person speaks fluently without slang. Notice that only liberals are surprised by this, regardless of what Chris Rock joked about regarding Colin Powell.

        • tvlgds

I was living in CA when all that claptrap about teaching ebonics came about. I’ll never forget some of the interviews they did with black students (I believe it was at Berserkely) who were absolutely offended by the idea. They said it made it sound like they were too stupid to learn!

        • tvlgds

          Great speech by Bill Cosby.

        • warpmine

Great observation about the white trash in urban environments.

    • Arrrggghhh

    • NOOOO! You know NO tv host, no matter what the platform, will ever become president. We need Congressman Lt. Col. West to be just that.

  • MiketheMarine

He borrowed heavily from a speech made by Wayne Perryman and shown right here at TRS. Here’s the link, since I saved it.

    • virginiagentleman1

No arguement with your comment, Mike. Since the info West spoke on is in the public domain, you or I could have written that speech!
The reason it carries so much weight is because it is West delivering it, not Perryman or you or me.
As most speakers do, Col. West injected his own personality, views, and voice into the speech. Mr. Perryman gave a simular speech about 5 months ago, and I watched it here as well. Col West took it much further.
For two high profile men to give speeches covering simular ground can only HELP keep the message out in front, my friend.
As a counter point, imagine what Maxine”I see racists everywhere” Waters would say! She wants blacks to STAY on the plantations SHE and her ilk own. She wants freedom for her people only if she, Jackson, Sharpton, etc. are the overseers!

      • MiketheMarine

Many of my successful, black policyholders have been speeking this message since 2009. It is nice to hear the truth being spoken in those circles.

        • virginiagentleman1

Amen to that, my friend! The more black folks spreading the real truth, the better! While I have passed along many of West’s and Perryman’s points over the years, the truths they address carry more power and weight coming from such fine men of color speaking to other people of color. It is much more effective then hearing it from an aged white man like me.
So, Marine, you are in the insurance trade? How is business in this economy? Just being nosy, Mike.

          • MiketheMarine

Rough, but stable. In the past 4 years, I’d say our income is down about 20% but, like I said. It has stablized some.

  • KM

You won’t hear excerpts of this speech in the main street media (aka Socialist-democratic American Pravda).

  • virginiagentleman1

I have immense respect for Col. West. A soldier, a statesman, and most importantly, a truth teller.
My dream team for the offices of President and Vice-President, Palin/West. The nations leadership would be in constitutional conservative hands for the next 16 years.

  • Rshill7

This is the message that needs to be trumpeted over, and over, and over until “people of color” finally get it. They are living a lie, supporting a lie, donating to the lie, contributing to their own demise with lies, and being taken advantage of daily.

Turn a blind eye to the lie folks. Extricate yourself from the plantations, once and for all. Stop enslaving yourselves and allowing yourselves to be enslaved. It also hurts the rest of us. Save yourselves and save the rest of us too. Vote for freedom. It is world history’s most consistent road to prosperity.

If you can’t find that road, check with West and get a map. He obviously has a pristine copy.

  • toongoon

“A general should never be taking fire from behind”, George Washington. How many Republican leaders can we apply that to?

God bless Allen West for talking about the history of democrat racism on the house floor.

  • denbren52

It’s a shame that the people who most need to hear that speech will never hear it. Keeping them blind to the truth keeps them enslaved by government. The truth would set them free. Gee, where have I heard that before?

  • Outstanding. Allen West is amazing. We need to find more like him.

    • DebbyX

Right now, we only need ONE.

Wish he was running, he would kick O’s butt.

  • warpmine

Apparently, Congressman West took it upon himself to investigate the party before becoming part of it. Damn shame so many liberals, especially black Americans, fail to do the same.

The DemonRats have successfully sterilized that part of US history and in having done so have seemingly guaranteed the DemonRats an entire voting block that will never change in proportionate numbers their voting pattern.

From this point forward it certainly looks as if that voting block will contribute to the enslavement of themselves by the very people that sterilized the truth. Ignorant, unplyable dolts all of them.

    • MiketheMarine

Isn’t that the way it is historically done? People vote for protection and end up being enslaved.

  • Susanna958

Makes ya wonder how the Republicans have allowed the Dems to rewrite history.

    • virginiagentleman1

      Simple really, milady. They’re SPINELESS!

      • tvlgds

As I’ve said, much of Congress needs spine donors!

  • Sober_Thinking

This is excellent. If he isn’t our VP in 2012, then he should immediately be promoted to Speaker. There are few people out there who are as brilliant, bold or eloquent. I would happily vote for him as our first black president (in 2016). This man gets it.

  • This is why I joined the Republican Party when I reached voting age.

  • 911Infidel

In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act. – George Orwell

Steadfast and loyal Lt.Col West. Oorah!!

  • Alborn

Love this guy. I want him on the national stage. VP is a good start. Knowing our history is so important for our future. Education cannot be trusted to the state. Abolish the Department of education. Return control back to the communities.

    • tvlgds

Paraphrasing–those who don’t know history are bound to repeat it.

  • I hope this speech gets more traction.

  • FloydAlsbach

If Allen West asked me… I would follow him through hell & back.

  • DebbyX

That speech should be shown in every classroom. History in 15 minutes or less.

But, of course it won’t be.

  • drphibes

    Oh, they must hate him.

  • CalCoolidge

The seven Black Republicans he named are featured in a Courrier and Ives Print on the cover of David Barton’s indispensable guide – American History in Black and White

  • This is courage in the face of fire.

  • Steven

    Santorum/West 2012!

  • BlackIrishCream63

I like this, too and many will not listen to this and yes they’re too entrenched on Uncle Sam’s (AKA Uncle Scam’s) Plantation. It’s really a shame about the Democrats or Democats and how they would opposed those rights. What a mess! Thanks for this info!

  • sdharms

Where can I get a transcript to send to the Tipps Elementary principal and the Superintendent of CyFair school district — where the teacher sent the praise and worship song home with 5yr olds — praise and worship of BHO?

  • tvlgds

West is on Fox right now. He voted AGAINST the tax and unemployment extensions today. Good for him! People can already sit on their back pockets or 99 wks collecting unemployment! Not that it pays enough to really live on. One of my former co-workers got laid off, but he and his wife have a small business, so he only applied for crap jobs he had no interest in or was way overqualified for, just to meet the requirement. 99 wks he collected unemployment while his small business thrived! I’m sure he’s not the only one.

  • Incredible speech!

  • Before I comment about this most hateful person, I must do the research. I trust nothing that comes out of his mouth.

  • gothicreader

How we let the Democrats hijacked the message is stunning. This should teach all of us what they will do to keep the oppress oppressed.

Rep. West is a true patriot. God Bless him.

  • Ddyben

Wow, is this guy sucking up or what? If you trace his genealogy I will bet he has a family member that was described as ” A beloved pet”. Seriously is this guy twisted or what? I have never seen someone miss there masters hands so gently and so frequently before….

  • The past is important but who are the ones saying,”If I had my choice between a minotity doc and a White doc I’d choose the White doc,”, who are the ones saying” African American should choose pay check over food stamps?” who are the ones makinfg illegal immigration a Latino vs White? all of these are comming from the party of priciples the Republicans. I want a Repulican mayor and town council and a police force which won’t be too afraid of being called racist if they ask a Hispanic Hip Hopper to turn his or her music to a level which his or her neighbor in the computer three houses down feels he or she is sitting on their over priced subwoofer powered by an over powered over priced car stereo I’m a proud Anglo Hispanic male from SLC Ut my sen. Orin Hatch pictured on this page seems to think all on government sevices of which I’m against take drugs How many RTepublicans have said<"Test all welfare mothers for drugs." Get rid of welfare and treat all like White males and tell subscribers to this web site to quit sending the email which states that a fairy grants a Mexican immagrant three wishes first two giving him something of wealth but when he (the Mexican immigrant) wishes to be White everything is taken away as the pervert who originated this email thinks that only White people work for what they get tell that to my Mexican immigrant wife of whon I've just recently been told would work of the clock to clean her division so as it the laundry in a down town SL hotel will no longer be a fire hazzard or the men who man the taco stands and sell their wives tamales Maybe when the modern Republican party lives up to the image of the Lincoln Repunlican party not the Jeff Davis Demoratic party I will registor as a Republican and do as I did in 96 and 2000 and vote Republican

  • Donallen

Stop the speeches and run for President where you can do the most good.

  • Dan

Unfortunately when it comes to racism both parties have done some shameful things. As for the Republicans, they were for equality before they were against it and the Democrats were against it before they were for it. It is well known that when Nixon wanted to win the southern vote he courted the Democrats who were against school integration and they subsequently joined the Republican party. Neither party can be too proud of their history in this regard. We have to remember that this is not a party issue but an American issue.

    • K-Bob

Republicans were formed to defend Liberty, and therefore ended slavery. Republicans, specifically conservatives and libertarian types, are still for Liberty, and therefore want no part of Obama’s marxist dystopia.

Democrats have resisted liberty all along, and have almost destroyed the black family unit in most big cities, thanks to “progressive” policies.

When it comes to racism, Republicans have the only record that has ever shown positive results. The Progressives live to see racism injected into everything, so they can fan the flames of divisiveness and anger, which gives them their power base.

The issue for America is: when will we end this disastrous, prosperity-killing, progressive experiment?

    • Verreauxii

THANK YOU! Finally, a truthful statement!

  • Blacks won’t believe him because they’ve been sheep for too long. Hey minorities, there is a difference between a hand out and a hand up. You’ve been propagandized for so long, your hand is permanently “out”.

    • Verreauxii

“Yeah you silly brainwashed darkies. We are trying to help you. We know what is best for you!”

I wonder when was the last time they heard that. Too funny.

  • Verreauxii

Yeah…then he forgets to mention that those southern Democrats were conservatives. So much for the “truth.”

  • Didds

I didn’t read the part about the Tilden – Hayes compromise. You know the one that gave good old Rutherford the White House, but in return pulled federal troops stationed in the south for the sole purpose of protecting blacks during reconstruction. This action paved the way for 90 years of jim crow laws and de jure segregation.

I can respect my enemies, but not when they pretend to be my friends. West is in over his head.

  • different republican party back then. different democratic party back then. learn history.
