Allen West explains the American dream to Republicans and Democrats

Allen West explained to a Democrat/Republican panel organized by Frank Luntz what the American dream means to him and he also took a few questions from the panel. One question was from a Democrat asking him about his comments that there were Communists in Congress, but West didn’t back down and explained his comment. At the end of the segment there were all asked if they would vote for him most raised their hands. That was awesome.

Allen West True Patriot, love to see him and palin on the same ticket 2016.

    • poljunkie

I wouldnt mind seeing him this year as VP.

      • I’d love it pol, but I can’t see mittens wanting to give the spotlight to someone the people love more than him.

        • poljunkie

Well he has to do SOMETHING!!!!! I agree with what you say, but maybe Romney will be a bigger man, and do it.

MY hubby is more conservative than me. BUT he doesnt spend much time on the internet. Unless he is reading news or if I show him something. Dont misunderstand, he is hyper political (…but he worked in AI for 30 years so he is about done with the keyboard) Today he was coming in to ask me a question, and he actually shared my office chair to watch the rest of Col West.

There arent many choices out there. Most are bleech.

          • M_J_S

I agree, if Romney picks Portman, I think I’ll vomit, the guy is such a bore.

            • poljunkie

I’ll join you in the vomitorium. AND They’ll be a standing date as well if it is Pawlenty. Nice guy, another bore.

        • M_Minnesota

imho West has been queasy on Romney. The first time NewsmaxTV asked him about the possiblilty of Veeping for Mitt, the expression on West’s face priceless. He also said that they are not so close on the issues. If he would accept Romney’s veep slot, you know that West would be “Palinized” by the left and the GOP establishment.

Mitt would leave West twisting in the wind.

          Palin/West 2012 “The Narnia Ticket”

          • I’d love the Narnia Ticket! 😀 I agree M.

          • MLCBLOG

Very astute! and practical. I agree.

Still, I hope Mitt understands to pick as conservative a running mate as he can just to keep us happy!!

        • “Mittens”. Bwahey!

        • Idahoser

          McClown did.

      • KenInMontana

Ann Romney was quoted as stating that Mittens is considering a woman for the VP slot. This was on Fox radio this morning.

        • poljunkie

          Thanks Ken.

        • conservativecanadian1

SE Cupp said that Ann Romney was a liar.

          • KenInMontana

Well good for SE, then. /sarc

      • conservativecanadian1

No, No!! Romney would taint West. West needs someone truer, with less baggage.

    • Do we have to wait until 2016??

Any chance they could win a brokered convention? Although Romney picked up enough states/delegates, does it mean that the delegates HAVE to give them to Romney??

      Just a thought!!

      • ProudAmerican247

“Do we have to wait until 2016??”

No! A brokered convention is exactly what we need NOW in 2012!

PALIN/WEST would be the greatest “contrast” to b.0. in all the presidential races in history.

The Marxist/Joe “bite me” Biden vs. Constitutional Conservatives PALIN/WEST.

The mind-boggling contrast would cause people to stampede to the polls in November to vote the Marxist OUT!

        PALIN/WEST! 2012!

        • M_Minnesota

          Palin/West 2012 “The Narnia Ticket”

      • Steve Busby

Yes…on the first ballot they are required to vote for their state’s nominee. Romney has enough delegates sewn up to win on the first ballot.

Only if they were to go to a second (or more) ballot could the delegates vote for who they prefer. It won’t happen this time, though.

        • conservativecanadian1

Federal law prohibits anyone from being legally bound to vote for a certain candidate. Delegates are free to vote their conscience. A brokered convestion is looking more likely each day.

  • Big fan

  • He is gutsy

… spoken from a TRUE PATRIOT and most importantly SPOKEN FROM THE HEART .”

    • jlbs

Allen West never ceases to amaze me. I agree when he talks, he talks from the heart. He needs no teleprompter and rarely needs any notes. (I’ve seen him use notes only once, and I catch his videos as often as possible). He truly loves this country and we need at least 500 more like him!

  • Oh wow, as usual, he nails it!

The American dream is not all about material things. I don’t have much in material things, but I am SO rich in so many ways. Freedom being the number one thing. It’s what has drawn immigrants here for the past 200 years. America represents hope, freedom and life to those who have come here, many who came from places which never allowed their people to have before. Lord, I am so grateful to live in America, and I will never keep quiet in reminding those who were born here who do their best to take every advantage of the freedoms yet trash it. I despise those ungrateful blind fools.

    • kong1967

If we don’t get a grasp on this you’ll probably move back to Canada. From what I understand Canada has been making strides toward turning back overspending.

      • poljunkie

We’ve seen that too lately Kong, on the financial channel.

Ive hear rumblings too, that Canada is becoming more conservative than we are here.
Ab’s, you probably have a better handle on that that I do?

        • I think Linky1 has a better grasp on it than I do. Ontario is still pretty pathetic, and it seems as though the provinces in the west are having to “share” their wealth with the eastern provinces which are more liberal. Gee, imagine that.

        • Linky1

See my reply above to kong1967. I live in Canada and we are Conservative in name, socialist in nature.

          • poljunkie

            Thank you

      • Some parts of Canada are getting better- Ontario, where I’m from is not one of them. Sorry Kong, everybody. Y’all are stuck with me. I’ve got red, white and blue in my blood and I ain’t goin’ anywhere 😀

        • keyesforpres

          NO worries…you’re a keeper!

        • kong1967

          Clap, clap, clap!!!

I wouldn’t want it any other way.

      • Linky1

Trust me, Canada may SOUND Conservative, but talk is cheap.

Our social programs still cost a huge chunk of change in taxes, we have a socialist opposition in Parliament that is gaining popularity. This opposition is doing all it can to shut down our oil sands and have teamed up with foreign funded groups suck as the Tides Foundation that are pushing the green agenda.

We have a negative Charter of Rights, can be prosecuted for hate speech, abortion is 100% legal and government funded, and have a justice system that still favours the criminals.

The Province of Ontario (the manufacturing province) is in huge debt, a smaller version of what the US is going through, with a Premier who is as much of a megalomaniac as Obama is.

While we have SUN News, we still have a liberal leaning state run, taxpayer funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and other media who still push the liberal socialist agenda.

Canada is taking tiny baby steps here and there, but after 40+ years of Socialist rule, it just does not go away that easily. IMHO, as long as Canadians have cradle to grave social programs like are in place now, we will never have a true Conservative government.

        • kong1967

Ah, man. I have an extra bedroom if you wanna come over.

I’m just hoping we don’t pass you up in the liberal race to self destruction.

        • conservativecanadian1

Totally agree. In Manitoba, the NDP (socialist party if you ask me) is taking our province down the road to ruin, debt and entitlements.

Hey, at least the Harper government repealed Section 13 of the Human Rights commission. Our speech is a little freer for it.

          • Linky1

I’m in BC – can you imagine that-a red-blooded conservative amongst the tree-hugging folk.

Our Liberals who are supposed to be Conservatives have just bribed (oops, reinstated) the good folk on welfare and disability with all of their medical devices and services (that they cut off a year ago) as we have an election next year. So, we have the choice here-Liberals or NDP (Socialists, yes) with the Conservatives holding up the rear.

I do agree about Section 13 being repealed, one of the better things the Harper Government did, thanks in a big way, to SUN News-they held the government’s feet to the fire on that one and at least Canada has a more balanced view of the world.

    • badbadlibs

Great piece, American! One thousand likes!

    • nehemiahreturns

Bravo, ABiC, and what we should be most grateful for are generations of immigrants who believed in and share the American dream. As a tenth generation American with ancestors who can be found in the DAR patriot index, I sometimes wonder if the ingrates who trash this nation and seek its destruction are descended from those who sided with the British during the Revolution – generational sour grapes?

  • kong1967

I saw this. It was a young kid that asked him the question. Naive and stupid.

    • GreenBeretWay

The kid has been on Mommy & Daddy’s payroll way too long.Once they pry the Playstation out of his fat fingers and make him go out and earn his own Twinkies,he’ll get a grip on reality.

      • kong1967

LOL !! I didn’t want to be the one to say it.

      • Linky1

        Perfect description…..

      • Bucketheadbaptist

        Hey HEY…

        Watch the fat jokes…

Some of us “fluffier” folks are hard working people too…

But when you have to drive a lot… those Burger bombs start adding up.

        • “fluffy” I like that! 😀

        • GreenBeretWay

Sorry Bucket,I don’t have anything against ‘fluffy’ people, just ignorant ones.

          • Bucketheadbaptist

            No problem dude.

Hey… everybody has a place where they fall down…

    • FutureOnePercent

That kid looked older than me. Age is no excuse for stupid! Blame the parents if you want, but some of us young guns take offense when someone is given a pass because of age.

That being said, my entire generation is a bunch of ignorant fools who can’t complete an entire thought. So stereotype away, cause you’ll probably be right.

      • Patmajek

@Future…as long as there are still young people like you who see the light there is hope that this great country will remain free for centuries to come. Some of the ignorant fools will mature and join with you in time, but others will fall into the socialist trap and never recover. But you will survive and prosper as long as you never lose your drive to become a one-percenter. The American dream is still alive and flourishing in the dreamers.

        • FutureOnePercent

Thank you, I’m doing what I can to keep people out of the quicksand.

      • kong1967

You must be really young if that kid looks older than you. You’re a conservative and that’s what matters.

    • Steve Busby

This same group was on another time. That kid has ALL the talking points; but, when one of the women asked him WHY he said something…he was totally lost. Obviously, he’d never thought about that.

      • kong1967

Lol, typical lib. You go into details and they become deer in the headlights.

  • I’ve always said Allen West would be the first black president of the United States, NOT what we have right now. He has the personality, the oratorical skills, and the character of a Ronald Reagan, and he will go very, very, far. At least I hope so. This is somebody to watch and I loved how he slammed that kid right down about those communist members in Congress. We need so much more of this and, judging by the response of the audience at the end of the clip, the American people are yearning for it too. I wish nothing but great things for this man and this country sure could use him, especially now.

    • Steve Busby

Amen, Libertyship. Allen West is a leader and a statesman/warrior. He is what this country wants and what this country needs. He is as proud to be an American and I am proud he is one.

He won’t be the VP candidate this time…but he should be seriously considered for the top spot next time it’s open. He, Rubio, Jindal, Ryan, Cantor…we have a lot of young leaders waiting to show us the way.

  • badbadlibs

The democrats in that audience couldn’t even bring themselves to press the positive button (or however it works) while he was mentioning service, sacrifice and committment. What on God’s green earth can you do with people like that????
“Aaron” in the front row is a living example of how the youth have been brainwashed and dumbed down.
If LTC West ever became POTUS, any and all of his speeches and press conferences would be events in this home!

    • It sure would be great to be able to watch the SOTU, and any other Presidential speeches again…. without cringing and scrambling to find the off button! 🙂

    • keyesforpres

Yeah, I noticed that too and when he talked about individualism the dial went down with the dems.

      • badbadlibs

I really am stumped as to how you get thru to a people who only know how to “group think”.

        • keyesforpres

Well, one way is when they start their own business! I met a gay guy recently that had voted for Obama and said he wasn’t going to this time. I asked him what changed his mind and he said that he’d started his own business. I threw my head back and laughed and said, “That’s usually what does it!”

      • FutureOnePercent

With individualism comes responsibility… they don’t want to let go of the victim card.

This man will be POTUS one day….count on it!

  • Captain_Maynard

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you watched the above video, you have just seen the REAL first black president of the United States of America. Coming Soon to a White House near you.

    • keyesforpres

Yup. The one we have now is a usurper and as such cannot claim to be the first black president. He is a squatter.

    • 1mathteacher

I can only hope. I would love to see that. Black, white, or purple — I don’t care. He is the real deal.

  • poljunkie

Aaron, the first question, just couldnt wait to spout off with his comment to Col West. Thats probably why he accepted the invitation to participate on the show.

The Col’s answer was fantastic, and as always I salute him for his service.

    • badbadlibs

If I were Aaron’s parents I would be cringing. What kind of parents can’t teach a kid how to respect at least the service of a man like LTC West? He should have thanked LTC West for allowing him to be in the same room….

  • GreenBeretWay

When Luntz asked,”How many of you in this room would vote for him” My hand shot up so fast I think I dislocated my shoulder.Ouch

    • Linky1

That’s a good “ouch.” I’d do the same thing. If I were there, we would have to share some Advil for the pain!!!!

    • poljunkie

      AWESOME…just awesome Green Beret Way.

    • lol! Looks like a lot of us might have the same medical condition 😉

      • GreenBeretWay

I’ll take West pain anytime.Man I like this dude. Romney, you listening?

    • Steve Busby

Read his remarks before the Court Martial for his actions in Iraq. He protected his men and told the Court that he would “march into hell with a gasoline can” to do so again.

That is a MAN the likes of which we haven’t seen in a long time.

      • GreenBeretWay

“That is a MAN the likes of which we haven’t seen in a long time.”

Yep,I would give him a Thousand ‘likes’ A true leader that any man would be proud to follow.

  • WordsFailMe

TAMPA BAY– AUG 27 2012 — ALLEN WEST Bet on it.

    • badbadlibs

Is he speaking that day? Are you attending?

      • WordsFailMe

It would be my hope. Not likely on the latter though

        • badbadlibs

I admit ignorance, what is that day about?

          • WordsFailMe

First day of the Republican Convention in Tamp FL. I really want to see Allen West play a big role there. The Romney group needs to hear the enthusiasm this one man can generate even if he doesn’t pick West as VP which is unlikely now.

Obama is so stupid and is advised by the kind of people who came up with the wedding gift strategy, so I hope Romney is letting Obama continue to step in cow shit for the next couple of weeks before the real attacks on his performance and his lack of courage and character begin. There’s a lot of money behind Romney and it really only the last couple of weeks that force the undecideds to pick. With the really heavy shots coming late, one after another, over and over while the weekly and monthly jobs reports continue, he can make Obama look like a monkey, unless Obama gets there first.

Did I say monkey? Sorry I meant to say a foul, corrupt, bed-wetting, thumb-sucking, back seat limo-lizard, yellow bastard in a commie-blue suit. My apologies.

            • badbadlibs

Thanks for the info. And btw, that’s the single best description of bo I have ever read anywhere, anytime, ever! 😀

        • Steve Busby

He would be an AWESOME choice for the Keynote Speaker.

  • 911Infidel

I love a politician who doesn’t spend a whole lot of his speaking time using uhs and uhmms. Its a good sign that the person has the courage of his convictions and has already thought through the major issues of the day.People like that don’t need no stinking teleprompters.

Note to pasty white fat boy first time voter: Ge buy a clue dipweed, then lose some weight. You’re a disgusting fat body.

  • BSScoop

Conservatism and limited government is a hard sell. It demands more than shallow, emotional reactions to ideas that prey on our basic instincts like leftism. That young man in the front row can’t define communism, he simply is shocked at the accusations. Allen West’s rhetoric is the best in DC right now.

That being said, he also voted for the Pigford scandal (since retracted) , raising the debt ceiling, the pathetic excuse for Boehner’s budget, and the NDAA. I also have some questions for Lt.Col. West like…What do we do with the Federal Reserve and monetary policy? Do you believe in Roosevelt’s New Deal? No? Then l, why doesn’t your platform support the repeal of Social Security? Where in the Constitution does the federal government have the authority to tax and redistribute wealth like this program? What about LBJ’s Great Society? Same question about Medicare/Caid and its constitutional authority. Your website, under “Issues”, makes no mention of entitlements at all.

On your Allen West for Congress website, it says this…

“I believe that the United States Congress must restore Social Security to the independent trust fund account envisioned by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in order to stop Washington politicians from raiding it to fund their reckless spending sprees.”

I applaud your outspokenness about communism and the democrats. Your rhetoric and story is inspiring. I’m waiting for Republicans to become constitutionalists again.

    Don’t Tread In Me

  • Cindy09

    He is genuine!

    • poljunkie

      Yep. No pretense.

  • The rhetoric is the problem, not Statist liar politicians. That sounds about right. What he really meant to say was, “Your rhetoric is detrimental to my political position”

  • Marky_D

What a guy! I keep having to wonder why it was that Allen West was not your first black president and instead you got… well… that guy…

  • stage9

I will keep saying it. Colonel West will be the first legitimate African American President.

  • drphibes

Democrat American Dream: Surrender your identity to a collective, like you’re being assimilated into The Borg in Star Trek, so you can be a victim class for Democrats to champion.

But woe-betide the person who breaks from the collective by developing his own thoughts about….anything. You will be branded a heretic. If you’re black, you will be called racist names, like Uncle Tom and OREO. See how that works? When Colin Powell hangs with the Repubs, he’s all these nasty things. When he endorses the annointed one, he’s enlightened and wonderful.

  • Susanna958

    He’s awesome.

  • This an is amazing. A future GOP President.

  • DebbyX

Watching the reds and blues, it was evident they are miles apart in thinking. Especially when it came to being the master of your own destiny. It’s hard to pull that out stretched hand back in when somebody’s there putting cash in it.

As for all the people who raised their hands to say they would vote for Col. West, I think some of them lied.

I would vote for him a couple times!

  • Wow! I hope someday he aspires to the highest office in the land. He is truly the embodiment of MLK’s dream.

  • williamm

On Thursday, the panelists of Fox News Channel’s The Five debated over the appropriateness of comments by Rep. Allen West (R-FL) in which told a group of constituents that President Barack Obama would “rather you be his slave.” The conversation quickly devolved into a heated argument between co-host Bob Beckel and fellow host Greg Gutfeld. “Now you know what it’s like, Bob,” Gutfeld told Beckel after saying that West’s conduct mirrors that of the left.

  • sybilll

I am such a fangirl of Col West that I would most certainly have made a fool of myself had I been in that audience. The guy that spoke up about how is portrayed by the liberal media is sadly, 100% true. Take a stroll around DU, and they talk about Allen West like we talked about Alan Grayson. I kid you not. The liberal media is so scared of him that they have portrayed him as a sociopathic loon.

He got my attention when I first heard about some colonel in the army who shot his gun in the air to convince an enemy to spill the info the colonel needed to keep his men safe…and then turned himself in for firing a gun not in compliance with the current army rules.

Yes, keynote speaker would be so cool!!

  • anyonebutbarry2012

    Great Patriot Allen West ! 2016 West /palin …. palin /west

  • Sinsonta

We need some one like Col Allen West to fire up Romney’s campaign. He is a true American Patriot willing to help to put America back in the right track.

  • KarlRogue

    He’s top dog right now

  • capelady

It is so refreshing to hear black Americans speak of their love for this country on the same day that black celebrities (who are millionaires because they live in America and because of our free-market system) talk of their hatred for America.

The biggest problem we have in America is ignorance – and those who denigrate this nation clearly have no understanding of history.

America is not perfect, but it is exceptional because it is the only nation in history that recognizes that our rights come from God and not government.

I have to wonder why those who hate America so much don’t go live somewhere else…?

  • Terrenceor

That is why Sarah, when asked, throws Allen West’s name out there for VP. Like Reagan, he understands the brilliance of our Declaration and Constitution and will not back down. He is a leader who people will follow.

We lack that “Lead or get the hell out of the way and follow” attitude in Washington. The Washington DC motto is ” I will lead as soon as I figure out if a majority will follow and they tell me which way to go and we may just go part of the way there so the other side won’t feel bad and I will look like a good guy”.

  • aZjimbo

Balls of steel once again. Love this man.

  • John3_3

  • Pyrran

As long as they’re not looking through the dark, distorted lens of the media, people usually pick up on the truth. Pretty simple, really. The trick is to figure out a way to go one-on-one with the American people.

  • Mitt won’t select Allen West. There is a greater reason why Allen West is auditioning.

He’s trying to show people he is a leader and what a leader should look like. Tampa here we come.

  • tinker_thinker

    Alan West knows.

  • Allen West IS the embodiment of the American Dream, and just like the first guy said, the lame-stream media portrays him and every other common sense right-winger as nut-jobs. Every other news show besides FOX is cheating the American people by LYING to us!

  • Awesome clip, truly awesome. If the only person he didn’t impress is fat-and-stupid in the front row, then you know he’s on the right track. This guy could be President.

  • I sooo wanted a Cain-West 2012 ticket! Would love to see that happen at a brokered convention! They are both fine, upstanding men who truly love America and her people and would do everything they could to make America great once again. We are at a crossroads here, much like the Carter-Reagan race in 1980. Then, as now, America was in the toilet and about to be flushed thanks to Carter’s incompetence. Americans took a chance on Reagan, who history now considers one of America’s greatest presidents.

We can do that again … if we’re as willing now as we were then.

The only difference is, Carter dragged our country down because he was inept. Obama is doing it ON PURPOSE. Don’t for a second think Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing. He does, and he’s doing it well. If we don’t stop him, we won’t have an America to protect and defend anymore. BE BOLD! STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! Americans are not doormats!
