Apparently Andrea Mitchell didn’t watch the full press conference yesterday regarding the Las Vegas shooting/execution of two police officers. As you have probably heard, the police officers stated that the shooters put the Gadsden flag and a swastika on the cops after they executed them.
So today, Andrea Mitchell asked her guest if the Las Vegas shooting happened because we have a black president, referring to Nazi ideology of the shooters:
Here’s the thing. According to the police, the shooters weren’t Nazis or white supremacists. They believe the shooters put the swastika on the cops because they believe the police are associated with the Nazi movement. Listen just after the 1:30 mark:
One of the things is that we believe with the swastika is that we don’t necessarily believe that they are white supremacists or associated with the Nazi movement.
We believe that they equate government and law enforcement fascism and those who support it with Nazis. In other words they believe that law enforcement is the oppressor and they’re associated with the Nazi movement.
Earlier in the clip above the officers suggest that the shooters have an ideology “along the lines of militia or white supremacist”, but then they turn right around and suggest they don’t believe the shooters are white supremacist. I’m not sure why they threw the former in just to discount it later.
But if you look at what’s surrounding the case, I believe the police have it right in that the shooters had a radical hatred of law enforcement and government (to the point of extremism) and decided to take it out on those two unfortunate cops.
If Andrea Mitchell would’ve done her job, she probably never would have asked that question.
