Frank Gaffney testified at a Senate Judiciary hearing on closing GITMO and did a fantastic job of explaining why GITMO should remain open and the terrorist remain on site. One if his best points was when he was addressing what some have lamented as ‘wasteful spending’ when it comes to keeping GITMO open. He asked in response:

“How much has it meant that not a single one of these people or any of their friends have been able to attack us because of their proximity to a federal detention center in the United States? How many American lives have been spared as a result? There’s no way to know for sure, but are you feeling lucky? Do you want to take a chance?”

BOOM! Great questions!

Great exposition by a patriot. Now if only the same logic would be applied by the GOP to the Mexican border security issue!

    • Orangeone

deTocqueville1 Put the military and our Veterans at the border with authorization to shoot.  Enforcement is the best deterrent.

This wouldn’t be something new. The 7th Cavalry patrolled the Mexican border from 1915 to right before WW2.

“The Regiment served in the Philippines during the Philippine-American War from 1904 through 1907, with a second tour from 1911 through 1915. Back in the United States, the Regiment was once again stationed in the southwest, in Arizona (Camp Harvey J. Jones), where it patrolled the U.S.-Mexico border and later was part of the Mexican Punitive Expedition of 1916 to 1917. In December 1917, 7th Cavalry was assigned to the 15th Cavalry Division, an on-paper organization designed for service in France during World War I that was never more than a simple headquarters because of the speed in which the war ended after the entry of the United States. 7th Cavalry was released from this assignment in May 1918. On September 13, 1921, 7th Cavalry Regiment was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, which assignment was maintained until 1957. The Division and its 2nd Brigade was garrisoned at Fort Bliss, Texas, while the 1st Brigade was garrisoned at Douglas, Arizona. Additional garrison points were used as well. The 7th Cavalry Regiment continued to train as horse cavalry right up to World War II, including participation in several training maneuvers at the Louisiana Maneuver Area on April 26, 1940 – May 28, 1940; August 12–22, 1940; and August 8, 1941 – October 4, 1941.”

Mr. Gaffney is spot-on in his remarks.  He made his points clearly, succinctly and got right to his point about those that are being held in GITMO.  I agree wholeheartedly with him:  keep those people incarcerated at GITMO.

  • Proudhispanicconservative

That my friends is what you call eloquently aboloshing your stupid liberal argument. “Oh if we treat them with a little bit of respect maybe they will not harm us”.

    • Orangeone

Proudhispanicconservative Then let’s move them into the CongressCritters homes with their spouses and children.  Same with the Illegal Aliens. Each Congress Critter voting for anything less than full deportation must take in 100 illegal aliens with full immunity for any acts they commit against their family and the CongressCritter must serve the prison time if someone outside of their family is harmed.

  • famouswolf

It would be better to execute them and close it. Safer, cheaper, and the only way to really be sure.

    • Godisright

famouswolf Certainly the government has enough ammo for the job – wherever it is.

      • Orangeone

        Godisright famouswolf I would like my FAIR SHARE of that ammo. After all, I paid for my FAIR SHARE! :}

You are so right, famouswolf! They don’t want to eat, fine, pull the tube!

Especially now that the only ‘woman?’ on the show had decided to go work where Foxy ladies work. ;-) ;-)

  • jgilman

This guy makes perfect sense. Unfortunately when that happens this is what Dick Turbin hearshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=S5PvBzDlZGs

    • No_BlahBlah

      jgilman LOL!!!
      sadly, that’s pretty accurate though

  • PNWShan

Gaffney mentioned near the beginning that several of the other people testifying are arguing for the closing of Gitmo. I hope Congress listens to Gaffney, but I’m worried they’ll fall prey to the slippery-tongued ones on the other side.

It’s got quite a kick to it. You always fire it with your elbows locked. if you fire it with your elbows bent, the hammer will cut a groove in your forehead. Also, if Dirty harry had ‘fired 6 shots or only 5′ his ears would be ringing for a week. ;-)
I want one of these. :-)

I carried my .32 cal (full of ‘flat points’) at work. I didn’t bring the .44 Mag (full of ‘hollow points’) for just that reason. I’m the guy who had to clean up the mess. ;-) ;-)

  • kong1967

For these liberal twits it’s nothing but politics.  I honestly believe they are willing to put citizens at risk just so they can boast of closing Gitmo and so they can detach themselves from a supposed torture center and treat the terrorists with dignity and give them rights.
Put them in the prison system and they will have a large pool to recruit followers, and they have a much higher potential of being released….inside the United States.  Don’t count on liberals not being dumb enough to do this.  They are!

    • 57thunderbird

kong1967 I don’t doubt the stupidity of leftist ever!I have seen it first hand.

  • joperole

I live in Illinois, honestly if they were to release any of those guys in gitmo, I would pray that they kill Dick Durbin or anyone three generations from his kin. Honestly, today it seems the left has gone so far, that I have more in common with Islamist. I don’t mind it when they kill European leftist or anyone looking to go left. Praise god

  • lawngreen

There should be no terrorist prisoners, at least not after they’ve told us everything they know. Feed them to hogs. Make something good out of them.
Keeping terrorist prisoners invites kidnapping so the terr’s buddies will have something to trade to get them out alive. And you know that the hostages will not have a happy time in the hands of angry terrorists. Do everyone a favor and kill them all.

  • TIMERUNNERSC

Gitmo can not be closed until and after Obama and Holder interrogations are completed..

  • mikeinidaho

Hear, hear, Mr Gaffney! Always enjoy hearing the truth from you.

  • TIMERUNNERSC

    Excellent.

  • 57thunderbird

    Simply brilliant!!

  • TexasPGRRider

As long as someone wants to hang their hat on sharia law, we need to keep Gitmo open; with fewer ammenities as far as I`m concerned. We`ve been at war with islamists since our nation`s inception. We didn`t start it, THEY did. I would Highly suggest anyone who has not viewed Glenn Beck`s address posted by Scoop 23 July to do so. It was an eye opener for me….

    … are you feeling lucky…
    Excellent comments by Frank Gaffney.
Now, when the Republicans control the Senate, maybe… MAYBE… America will hear from ‘tip-of-the-spear’ American freedom from shariah patriots like Robert Spencer, Andrew Bostom, Pamela Geller, Andrew McCarthy, Timothy Furnish, Steven Emerson and et alli.
Waitin’ … and waitin’ … and waitin’ … and waitin’…

Dick Turbin needs to be hanged for crimes of high treason for comparing our soldiers to Nazis, Soviet gulags and Cambodia’s Pol Pot.

It’s not a good arguement.  It’s very tortured logic to suggest that somehow we’re officially at war against a tactic – and then somehow use that to indefinitely hold people at a prison.  We now hope and cross our fingers that some maniac Leftist doesn’t declare certain people on the Right to be “terrorists” and then secretly lock them up.  I blame Bush for a lot of this, political cowardice.  The Law of Land Warfare and Geneva are very clear on what you do with terrorists – you try them and execute them…not hold them for decades without charges.  If they’re not terrorists, then let them go.  If the pick up weapons again, well that’s what bullets and hellfire missiles are for.  We didn’t have this problem in World War II.

Go ahead…… close it, but only if you decide to drop these recidivist, brain dead, 7th century numbnuts from 6 miles up in pink pajamas (courtesy of Sheriff Joe) , dead center on the South Pole. I apologize to any one whose feelings I’ve ruffled…….. My ancestor is Benjamin Franklin, And I believe he agrees with me. And don’t even start with our current POS POTUS!
