Does anyone believe gang members and criminals are going to sell their guns to the NAACP? This sad display just furthers the idiotic notion that guns are the problem and ignores the real reasons for gun violence:

FOX ATLANTA – The Atlanta branch the NAACP announced they are starting a program to buy back guns on Monday.

Officials with the group say Project Rescue Atlanta is a community based program designed to get guns off the streets of Atlanta, and they are inviting other organizations to join the program.

NAACP president Dr. R. l. White was surrounded by members of law enforcement, including Fulton County Sheriff Ted Jackson when he made the announcement.

White says the program is about raising awareness in the community on the issue of gun violence, but they also want to get guns out of the wrong hands. He pointed to the tragic mass shooting in at a Mother’s Day parade in New Orleans on Sunday as a reason for the community to do something about it.

Hearts in the right place; heads in the clouds. This won’t help any more than gun laws but until people understand the real problem criminals of every kind will get their hands on guns.

    • Orangeone

njmom They would be more effective if they focused on the destruction of the black family and the 73% of black kids born out-of-wedlock and huge dependence on welfare and food stamps.

It’s easier to blame the guns than the criminals holding them and it’s easier to blame someone else than point the finger at themselves and ask the hard questions about what is happening to their group as it were.

Calling someone racist is racist and I’m a racist for pointing that out!  Dang!  I better sign up for insensitivity training! ;-)

warpmine Orangeone njmom Well I did have Divorce Court on in the background, black couple wanting a divorce, she was spending $$$ on nails and hair and then mentioned she went grocery shopping because it was SNAP day. Planted the seed for my post.  If they have $$$ for fake nails and hair salons, they can buy their own d@mn food.

I won’t comment on where I think their heads are.

How is it legal for the NAACP to buy illegal guns from those who possess them illegally? What will they do with them after they buy them? Redistribute them to “their people”?
Steal a gun, sell it to the NAACP. Steal another one, sell it to the NAACP. I think this could really work.
Maybe the KKK should do the same thing. Both groups are racist as hell, so they do have that in common.

    • K-Bob

Rshill7 A lot of the buybacks have had competition across the street from regular buyers who pay more.  It’s pretty funny.

      • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

K-Bob Rshill7 Correct but only the liberals will by a rusty gun that’s more dangerous to the assailant than the victim.

    • Orangeone

Rshill7 Great questions.  Here’s my follow up. Is the NAACP going to run background checks on everyone they are buying guns from?  Are they an FFL business and if so are they filing taxes and paying tax returns?  I believe they are a 501(c)(4) nonprofit org and there is no way that activity is permissible under their status.  Did someone at the IRS rubber stamp a change? Finally question, what could possibly go wrong with their re-distribution of guns to gangbangers?

      • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

Orangeone Rshill7 Doesn’t matter, it’s a feel good procedure so nobody cares.

If the NAA(L)CP really cared about folks in the inner cities, they’d make sure every single one of them over the age of 18 owned a gun, and received free NRA training.  They would also operate firing ranges for them.
We also need to get back to dropping “liberator” guns to the Coptic Christians.
My new policy: everyone gets a gun.

    • lawngreen

K-Bob A high percentage of the inner cities’ inhabitants are thoroughly criminal, if not gang members, especially by the time they’re 18.
Of course, they might thin out the herd a bit and that would be good. Remember the good old days when the Crips and the Bloods actually fought each other instead of fighting the cops and the rest of society?

  • rockfish

So, “buy back” insinuates that these officials were the original source of these guns or at least responsible for the public to be able to obtain them.  You can’t “buy back” something you never had ownership of.   And where is the money coming from to buy these guns ?  Somebody’s taxes I bet.   And what will they do with them ?  I hope they don’t send them to Mexico.  Usually what happens is they are destroyed, and most of them probably will be after the sheriff and his deputies and the NAACP “officials” take their pick of the best ones and the valuable antiques that people are too ignorant to know the real value of.  What a shame and waste.  Why not just say they can turn them in to some responsible NRA member with a carry permit or a collector or a museum who would just as effectively keep them “off the streets” and “out of the wrong hands”.  Where do I get in line. ?

    • deTocqueville1

    • deTocqueville1

      ConservativeFromHell And all Constitutional Conservatives.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      ConservativeFromHell Yup!

  • YoJoe

I heard that the local GANGS will wait until at least 100 weapons are collected
Then the GANGS will go in and ROB the guns so that can replenish their supply
Sounds like a plan to me!

    • Orangeone

YoJoe And the NAACP will do background checks when they purchase those guns right?

      • YoJoe

        Orangeone
        On the robbers AND themselves

  • deTocqueville1

Now that’s the ticket! What did the Pew study show? Just a hair under 2 percent of gun crimes were commited with legal  guns!

    • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

deTocqueville1 That means a measly 98% weren’t and that’s to close for comfort…..Ban the guns.

  • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

Ye have little faith RD. It’s all part of the hope for change cause I have my head up Obama’s butt program. Just need more time. I know, I know, even the gang members aren’t that stupid but it’s OK for them to think that they are. After all, they were all educated in government institutions.

  • pushtheredbutton

The NAACP: pushing racism; re-enslaving blacks; and working against REAL civil rights leaders since 1910.

    (I’m black)

    • Laurel A

pushtheredbutton They weren’t always this way…or at least I don’t think so but I am finding out with age that a lot of things are really nothing more than a facade. NAACP was the very first charity I ever gave money to as a teenager many moons ago.

Laurel A pushtheredbutton “NAACP was the very first charity I ever gave money to as a teenager many moons ago.”

          pushtheredbutton Laurel A Thank you!
I still hold out hope for a turn around. There are a lot of NAACP members who aren’t far leftards. In the mean time I will keep my powder dry I guess. there are so many really brilliant Black people out there that maybe one day the organization will see a turn around.
Now this is my opinion but I think Black conservatives hands down are way smarter than most. I personally think it is due to their life experiences coupled with their education in life at all levels. I’m not being racist and saying there aren’t smart people in all races but I am saying at this point in time that Black conservatives have it goin’ on!!! They have a way of getting to the heart of the matter like no others.

          Ma’m, I completely get you. :)

Its a sad thing what has happened to the black community since the days of the civil rights movement. Its so bad that quite frankly, if Dr King, were alive today, I have no doubt that he’d have been labelled an ‘Uncle Tom’ by the overwhelming majority of them. In fact, even while he was alive, he was always at loggerheads with the NAACP. Not a lot of people know that.

A note to the NAACP: It isn’t especially brilliant to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different resluts. Of course I am paraphrasing Albert Einstein. He is a man you like to dismiss and ignore.

    • lawngreen

Laurel A <sarc on> Einstein is a dead white man. How dare you quote him! You must be a raaaaaacist! <sarc off>

  • ryanomaniac

I think criminals will sell their. The pieces of crap. They will then use that money to buy better guns. Liberals, they can never see just one step ahead.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      ryanomaniac Agreed!

  • TinaG123

Liberals are unintelligent. They have something like this once a year in Chicago, and guess what……… Gang members don’t turn in their guns.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      TinaG123 Yup!

  • http://www.navalwarfare.blogspot.com/ Libertyship46

And yet nobody every discusses addressing the massive problems within the black community, such as out-of-wedlock births, single-parent homes, gang violence, drug use, and school dropout rates. It’s easy to go after an object like a gun. It’s a lot harder to look in the mirror and critically examine your own community.

    • The Sentinel

      Libertyship46
      Spot on.
      Man, you’re on a “clear-thinking” roll today! :)

    • NCHokie02

Libertyship46 what??? those things have nothing to do with problelms in a community.  You’re just being racist.  What’s wrong with being born to a single mother, raised by your single grandmother, dropping out of high school, joining a gang and start messing with drugs???

      hmmmm…..great post

  • lawngreen

“hmmmm… “get guns out of the wrong hands”… hmmm …. if a criminal wants to get rid of a murder weapon, this would be a perfect way to do it….. that’s bad.
If a well-intentioned idiot has bought a gun and is stupid enough to believe giving it up will help, that person should never have had a gun in the first place, so that’s good … if an enraged spouse wants to take revenge by turning in his / her spouses guns, that’s better than using them in rage, so maybe that’s good …
Something seems to be lacking here. I don’t think any criminal who intends to continue criminaling with a gun is going to give his up. And that’s almost every criminal out there, isn’t it?
Tell me again what this program is supposed to accomplish?
Now tell me what it is ACTUALLY intended to accomplish.

    • DCGere

lawngreen “Now tell me what it is ACTUALLY intended to accomplish.” Nothing more than to make them feel good, like they are helping to reduce crime. Then they can go around and pat each other on the backs for being such brilliant people.

  • The Sentinel

You would think black folks… more than almost anyone else, would side with the NRA over this subject. Blacks are affected pretty much the most with gun violence and doing this is like pleasuring one’s self… it feels good but it’s not real (productive). This is a show and impotent.
This is a sham – just like any NAACP organization. Fools.

  • Longiron

YEA this is going to work as well as the Million man march did a few years ago. Less than 50 K showed up! Would like to see the results in 2 weeks. At best a few water pistols might be turned in. Any real guns the NCAAP will probably re sale them on the streets !!!!! Bad people do not buy guns in gun stores ??

  • tinlizzieowner

Just more B.S. Legal, registered, gun owners will sell guns, ‘Gangstas’ won’t. Hey NAACP, how about trading guns for drugs program? Then, you might actually get some of the guns “out of the wrong hands”.
    ;-)

    • Dr. Strangelove

tinlizzieowner Gangbangers actually get some of their guns from people that get stung out and trade for drugs.

      • tinlizzieowner

        Dr. Strangelove tinlizzieowner
        Exactly my point.

  • dlh0

I hope the police run all of the serial numbers and make some attempt to return the stolen pieces to their rightful owners. If any thing of real value gets “turned in”, it is quite possibly stolen. The rest will be the same old broken single shots and low quality hardware store junk that usually get sold back.
