AWESOME: Justice Clarence Thomas talks about the importance of his Christian faith…

Justice Clarence Thomas recently gave the commencement speech at Christendom College, where he spoke at length about his Christian faith and how important it was for him.

I’ve go the video cued up at just before the 7 minute mark:

Here’s an excerpt from The Daily Caller:

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas delivered the commencement address Saturday at Christendom College in Front Royal, Va., where he exhorted graduates of the Catholic college to cleave to their faith.

Thomas, who spent several years at seminary as a teenager, spoke candidly about losing a vocation to the priesthood, followed by a long period of separation from the church.

“This is a decidedly Catholic college and I am decidedly and unapologetically Catholic,” the justice said. “It is this faith that has been the guiding beacon during some difficult and seemingly hopeless times — even when I had turned my heart against it and turned my back on it.”

As a new Catholic I absolutely love hearing Thomas speak with such resoluteness about his Catholic faith, because that’s exactly the way I feel. My eyes have been opened to a whole new world of theology and history and quite simply there is just no going back for me at this point.

Watch the entire speech if you like, it’s excellent:
