Awesome: Paraplegic Man Makes World Cup Kick In Robotic Exoskeleton [VIDEO]

That is really amazing. What a huge step, if you’ll forgive me, for the technology to allow people who have been paralyzed to regain their independence and mobility. There is of course much more work to be done, but that was one small kick for a man, one giant leap for robotic exoskeletal research and design. It is a remarkable age we live in.

Juliana Pinto, a 29-year-old paraplegic, was one of eight patients chosen for the opening ceremony after extensive training in a lab in Sao Paulo. Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, a neuroscientist from Duke University who’s the leader of the Walk Again Project, was ecstatic, proclaiming on Twitter “We did it!!!”
