Ayann Hirsi Ali: Oppression of women isn’t an aberration, but part of Islam

A great interview between Ayann Hirsi Ali and Megyn Kelly, where Ali explains from her own experience why the oppression of women under and what we call ‘radical Islam’ is not an aberration as some Muslims would like us to believe, but rather it is part of Islam.

She recounts her experience from growing up in Kenya, saying that she remembers the transition of her community going from everyone being regular Muslims to a much more oppressive version of Islam, and no one tried to stop it because the preachers in her community were preaching from the Koran.

She believes that reform is possible in the Muslim world, but she argues that it first starts with admitting there is a problem and so far the Muslim world hasn’t wanted to do that.
