Charles Krauthammer said White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon was “Scaramuccied” after he called a reporter to discuss politics.
Reporter Robert Kuttner with the American Prospect later published quotes from their conversation.
Bannon sounded off on “ethno-nationalism” as seen in Charlottesville, calling the rioters “losers” and a “fringe element.”
Bannon also appeared to differ the White House line on how to handle North Korea.
Krauthammer said he “totally contradicted” Trump’s “fire and fury” threat by saying there is no real solution to Pyongyang’s aggression.
It was a really good assessment of where the Trump administration is at, and how the contradictory elements mean we really don’t know just what is going on. But we know he’s winning, right!
Bannon said he didn’t even know that the conversation was on the record. Like, really? What is this, amateur hour at the White House? It’s interesting to contemplate the possibility Judge Napolitano floats though – did he do that on purpose to save Trump’s bacon? We’ll have to see what happens next…
