Barbara Boxer: I’ve never heard Hobby Lobby complain that Viagra is covered for men…

Barbara Boxer argued today that Hobby Lobby’s position against certain types of birth control (the ones that halt the process after conception like Plan B or other IUDs) is anti-woman and her reasoning is that Hobby Lobby has never complained that Viagra is available for men under their insurance coverage:

This doesn’t even make sense. Viagra has nothing to do with Hobby Lobby’s objection. This is not about sex or even birth control in general. In fact Hobby Lobby already provides normal birth control coverage under their insurance.

No, just as the host pointed out to Boxer, Hobby Lobby’s objection has to do with life, or rather protecting the creation of life. Viagra aids in the creation of life and thus is not at issue. What is at issue are products that end life, like Plan B. And that’s why this is a religious freedom issue for the company. They don’t believe in abortion.

Barbara Boxer is simply trying find some equivalency in order to twist this case to make it look like Hobby Lobby is anti-woman. And it’s a pretty pathetic attempt at that.
