Barcelona jihadi van-attack driver now ARRESTED while another jihadi with explosive belt has been SHOT

The man believed to be the driver of the van who killed 15 and injured over 100 in Barcelona last week has now been arrested. Another man with an explosive belt is reported to have been shot by police.

To catch up you up on the others found to be involved in this attack here’s an article from The Sun that was published before this breaking news:

Four people have now been arrested in connection with the atrocities: Driss Oukabir, 28, Mohammed Aslla, Mohamed Houli Chemlal and Salh El Karib.

But the baby-faced “jihadi” whose older brother accused him of stealing his ID to hire the van that mowed down crowds was killed.

Moussa Oukabir, 18, was shot dead along with Salid Aallaa, 18, Mohamed Hychami, 24, Omar Hychami, 21, and and Houssaine Abouyaaqoub, 19.

An explosion at a house in Alancar where plotters had amassed a massive bomb arsenal the night before the atrocity left between two and three unknown suspects dead.

Many of the group are believed to have recently returned from Syria fighting for ISIS.

Driss Oukabir, 28, whose name the van was rented in, reportedly turned himself in after seeing his face on TV.

It has been reported he denied blame and told investigating officers his brother Moussa, 17, stole his ID.

The five dead suspects were gunned down by cops in Cambrils while wearing fake suicide vests.

ISIS was quick to claim responsibility for the deadly attack.

The jihadist-affiliated news agency Amaq released a message, saying: “The executors of the Barcelona attack were soldiers of the Islamic State.”

Here is who they report was still at large before this breaking news report:

Still at large are Youssef Aalla, who is suspected of handling explosives, Abdelbaki Es Satty, 45, the imam suspected of radicalising the so-called Tarragona cell, and Younnes Abouyaaqoub, 22, the chief suspect thought to have driven the Las Ramglas terror van.

So you can mark Younness Abouyaaqoub off the list. It’s also possible that Youssef Aalla was the one with the explosive belt as the tweet below suggests, but we won’t know until that is confirmed.
