Belichick: “We’ll see how it goes” with Tim Tebow

Belichick spent over a third of his 9 minute press conference today answering questions about his newest player Tim Tebow:

CBS BOSTON – As the Patriots begin their mandatory minicamp at Gillette Stadium, the media has stormed the Patriots’ castle with boatloads of questions surrounding the third string quarterback, who the Patriots officially signed on Tuesday.

“Anything we do is what we feel is in the best interest in the team,” Belichick told reporters. “Tim is a talented player that is smart and works hard. We’ll see how it goes.”

When asked how much thought he and the Patriots brass put into in regards to the amount of hype that follows Tebow no matter where he goes, Belichick said “none.”

“In all honesty we’ve been in front of bigger crowds than this before,” said Belichick. “We ‘ll just keep doing what our job is, try to get better individually and as a football team.”

“Hopefully there will be more (coverage) at the games on Sunday,” he later joked.

When pressed as to what Tebow’s role would be with the team, Belichick started giving his usual stock responses.

“We have a team full of players and everybody has a job to do,” hes said. “I’m sure he’ll try to do the best he can, and we’ll do the job the best we can.”

By the time he was asked if he would mind his newest player “Tebowing” when he makes a big play, Belichick had had enough.

“I’ve already talked enough about him,” he said. “I think I’ve covered that. Anything else?”

In all, the Tebow questions took up roughly three and a half minutes his Belichick’s nine-minute media availability on Tuesday.

And this is just Day One of “Tebow Mania.” Strap in for a wild ride.
