Most presidents won’t go down without a fight when it comes to the policies they supported and the defense of their legacy. But today, Bill Clinton threw himself and his criminal justice initiative under the bus to support Hillary and her shift away from his policies.
Clinton argued that too many people are now in prison and partly blamed Republicans (of course), arguing that during his administration they wanted the ‘three strikes’ legislation and he just wanted to pass a bill so he went along with it.
But he also said “we cast too wide a net” and noted that any policy that was created when he was president under federal law that contributed to the problem should be changed.

So when the political winds shift, does anyone change their positions any faster than the Clintons? It’s no wonder many Americans don’t trust them.
