Bill Nye gets it wrong, again. This ACTUAL scientist fills him in…

Bill Nye is pretty insufferable, and when it comes to whining about climate, there is almost no one as annoying. But that in no way stops the media from going to him over and over as an expert on climate change. Spoiler: he’s not.

The Blaze points out that earlier this week, he got schooled by an ACTUAL scientist, who corrected his totally wrong report to Dan Rather (of all people) about how climate change is responsible for hurricanes.

Here’s what he said, via Blaze.

To Nye, any anomalous weather is a sign of climate change. So with record-setting Hurricane Irma coming on the heals of record-setting Hurricane Harvey, Nye was quick to connect the dots and conclude climate change.

“It’s the strength that is almost certainly associated with global warming,” Nye told Dan Rather last week. “As the world gets warmer and there’s more heat energy in the atmosphere, you expect storms to get stronger. You also expect ocean currents to not flow the way they always have. That will make some places cooler and some warmer.”

“The problem…is that these hurricanes are very powerful,” Nye said. “We’re all gonna pay for Harvey, we’re all gonna pay for Irma one way or another. So…anyway, the more heat energy in the atmosphere strengthens the storms — as you would expect.”

Anything that happens must be climate change, so this must be right. Right?

That’s Dr. Ryan Maue, a climate scientist and expert.

It may seem a small thing to correct Bill Nye about which warmth contributes to the strength of a hurricane, but it only seems that way. The truth is it’s rather a big deal. The house of cards has foundations, and one of the cards in the foundation is the “every bad weather thing is because of climate change” card.

The fact that this is very much not so matters.
