Boehner just gave his press conference I’ve got all ten minutes of it below. His main point can be summed up in this quote:

“It’s the President who walked away from his agreement and demanded more money. At the last minute. And the only way to get that extra revenue was to raise taxes.”

That’s basically why negotiations fell apart. Boehner said that the White House moved the goal posts by asking for another $400 Billion in revenue over 10 years on top of what they had already agreed to, and the only way to get it was in tax increases. As I’m typing this I’m listening to Levin and he points out that this just proves that these negotiations aren’t about the debt limit, but rather increasing taxes. In other words, as Levin points out, Obama sees it as another opportunity to make a big lurch to the left.

I love that Boehner points out once again the White House never put a plan on the table and that was the House that put both their plans on the table by passing their budget as well as Cut, Cap, and Balance. He also adds that the White House never got serious about cutting spending which is no big surprise to us.

Here is Boehner’s entire press conference that comes in at exactly 10 minutes:

Note: I’m not too worried about Boehner going to the White House tomorrow. I think he’s made his stance quite clear tonight.

I don’t want to scare them away, I’m just watching the tactics of ‘fanboys’ evolve as the primary season escalates. I’m guessing Alicia is a dirty mouth campaign worker somebody hired because of her boobs and social media skills. She’s first or early to post on nearly every thread since she arrived here and at any hour of the work day, which says this is part of her full time job, or she doesn’t take her real job seriously…or she has no job. She types with her thumbs, refuses to capitalize, and has the annoying habit of not putting spaces after using a period. (this also annoys Disqus) At least two other campaign mates tag team with the ‘comment presence’ strategy. …..but I could be way off.
The Palin, Bachman, Cain fanclub following here are currently known quantities and they are upfront. The Ron Paul blast teams are sporadic and usually leave in disgust, and the Ron Paul regulars take their lumps but otherwise enjoy the site.
I smelled a new breed wafting through and can’t make out their origin. We’ll see, the primary season is young, and the Republican ‘big money’ hasn’t started flowing in full streams yet. We can be sure outlets like TRS will be monitored by interested parties.

I do believe and I do wish it were not true that your DEAR LEADER CHAIRMAN PRESIDENT BARACH HUSSEIN MAOBAMA wants to DESTROY your REPUBLIC and as he once said “…to fundamentally transform the United States of America” ( into his SOCIALIST IDEOLOGYand in using the Saul Alinsky playbook) .

HOW DO WE STOP THIS MAN CHILD PRESIDENT FROM DOING SUCH DAMAGE ? Since he has the power to VETO .

Uuuuummmm, we can encourage him to run for re-election to distract him?

I don’t care if ol’ Boehner gets sort of, or in totality. WALKING AWAY forces obama to prioritize spending pursuant to the 14th Amendment. He can try all the bullcrap in the world he wants, but he never submitted a plan, never pushed a budget, his party never passed a budget for years. Money comes in and he HAS TO PAY THE BILLS FIRST.

Trying to mess with spending allocations by citing the 14th Amendment would begin the process of destroying his presidency (I know-again?). Levin has gone into this in detail.

right on Boehner. Hang tough against the marxists in the press and the Obamanites!

I thought it was a weak press conference where he didn’t take any shots at the POTUS that is obviously not serious about cuts. Levin did a great job defining the problem in the clips you posted- right now is the time to be forceful and call the administration out on the insufficient concessions in regards to their spending increases.

Edit: for example- over the next 10 years Obama has proposed adding 10 trillion to our national debt and yearly budget deficits larger than the amount he’s proposing to cut.

    • Anonymous

I must have seen a different press conference. I saw Boehner being very explicit about how Obama is wrong.

“in order preserve the fiscal integrity of our country” ?

    Dear Boehner,
We have no fiscal integrity. Thats why we elected you, so you could change that.

    • Anonymous

That’s what he said and what he hopefully is trying to do.

  • http://twitter.com/vettegal14 Robin Carmack

Good for Boehner. Here is a novel idea….don’t raise the debt ceiling and live within our means?? Lol The democrats are beyond idiocy wanting to raise taxes on small businesses during an awful economy but of course, that would further destroy the private sector that they loathe.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2AYRITGII2XF25M7FQLGJIS6KM KM

I have to admit, Obama and the socialist-democrats looks more like the roadblock rather than the solution.

    • Anonymous

Oh, so the Dems are the party of no?

House passed cut-cap-balance that 2/3 of public supports, and the Dems in the Senate tabled the bill without debate, saying no.

I don’t know. He wasn’t insulting and put the blame on Obama for changing his mind at the 11th minute of the 11th hour. He also stated point blank that the President nor any Democrat proposed a plan.

  • Anonymous

    Time to escalate.

The House should send another Cut, Cap, and Balance bill to the Senate, but this time with more cuts, lower caps, and build in a clause that says if the Senate doesn’t vote on it, the Balanced Budget Amendment will come to the House Floor immediately.

  • David Robertson

Unfortunate to hear Boehner allowed taxes on the table earlier this week. Don’t even know what to say….very disappointing.

So the liar in chief continues to lie telling everybody Boehner was the one who walked a way, and never mentioning that he, BO, demanded more money. BO never deserved to be president and he does nothing but disgrace the office and the USA with his serial lying and Chicago mafia tactics. I think Boehner walked a professional line. He relayed what occurred between them, rebutting what the liar in chief said and didn’t resort to the low life, sleaze ball name blaming and lying that BO lives and breathes.

    • Anonymous

Boehner said point blank that Obama moved the goal post, that they had a deal and he changed up on them, but of course would the MSM play this simple and clear statement? not likely.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SCIJ2WU6Y4A2CJWZPWDQ6LIMEA jcloh

    Obama’s bluff… I’m going to raise you 400 billion!

  • Anonymous

It seems to me, and correct me if I am wrong, but raising taxes is fairly quick process. The tax is put into law, the tax code is changed employers are notified and the new tax rates are applied. For spending cuts, there is a committee to form a committee to form a committee to study what needs to be cut. Then there is report of the report of the report to decide what to cut. Then a memo to write a memo to write a memo about how to go about the cuts. Three years later there might be some cuts. Am I far from reality?

  • Anonymous

Having made a stand tonight, I hope he doesn’t fold tomorrow. The GOP are always in a hurry to fold. They’re like scared little worrywarts who want to give up everything so people will like them. Stand firm, Boehner.

  • http://tackingintothewind.blogspot.com/ John Hinds

Default is a red herring. If the ceiling weren’t raised it does not follow that default is certain. Everyone knows this. Talk of default is the prime indicator that our so called leaders are purposefully weakening their bargaining positions. The house has the power of the purse. What they don’t have is the will to use it. They are a castrati cabal. Maybe people like Rubio, Demint, Paul, Jordan, Bachmann, etc., could be called in to show Boehner and McConnell how to find their balls.
