BOOM! SENATE VOTE FAILS, SHUTDOWN BEGINS…. [Updated]

Yeah we’re all gonna die.

From Fox News:

A shutdown of the U.S. government was looking closer to a certainty late Friday after a short-term spending bill failed to advance in the Senate.

The bill to keep government running through mid-February failed after 10 p.m., after a vote to end debate did not garner the 60 votes needed for passage, the Washington Post reported.

The vote left little hope that an alternative deal would be reached before a midnight EST deadline arrived.

AND the DEMS are blaming TRUMP of course:

Senate Democrats emerged from a closed-door caucus meeting Friday evening asserting that President Trump and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) were close to a funding deal but the president backed away from it.

“There was virtually a deal, a comprehensive agreement, between Chuck Schumer and the president, and he walked away from it after he talked to his hard right,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.).

Blumenthal added that the near completion of the deal, and the setback, both occurred on Friday.

A Senate aide confirmed Blumenthal’s comments. Schumer is expected to lay out the details of the potential agreement, and his discussions with the president, from the Senate floor Friday night.

The setback comes as Congress is barreling toward a shutdown, with no plan in sight that could prevent the government from closing.

Like I said before… we’re all gonna die. Welcome to the shuthole country.

UPDATE: Here’s a list of the unspeakable horrors that will beset our nation now that the incompetent idiots in Congress have once again, failed to do their damn job and pass budget:

Here’s a rundown:

Post office
The US Postal Service is an independent agency of the federal government. Post offices would not be affected. Mail would continue to be delivered.

Social Security
The checks will still be in the mail. But new applications would not be processed until the shutdown ends.

National parks
Unlike the last shutdown, some plan to remain open. Those with safety or staffing issues will close.

Museums and monuments
You might have to cancel that visit to the Statue of Liberty, Lincoln Memorial and other well-known sites. The Smithsonian and the National Zoo plan to stay open for the weekend, but shut starting Monday.

Travel
Airports would stay open. During the last shutdown, more than 14,000 air traffic controllers were ordered to keep working without pay. In a worst-case scenario, delays might be encountered depending on which employees are deemed “non-essential.”

Passports
If you need one, hurry up. Passport services could end within a short time depending on when funding runs out.

Immigration services
Most employees of the Department of Homeland Security are considered essential and would remain on the job. Immigration services are mostly self-funded, so those offices would continue operating.

I… really? That’s it? Geez. We can’t even shut it down right. [h/t @SuperAndrea]
