Well this is terrible news.

A car has slammed into a pizzeria in France killing at least one person and injuring at least 5, maybe more. The driver has been arrested already:

This could be accidental or it could be terrorism. The fact that the driver has been arrested would lead me to the latter, but we won’t really know until the facts come out.

French police say an 8-year-old girl was killed and at least five people were injured when a driver slammed his car into the sidewalk cafe of a pizza restaurant in a small town east of Paris.

An official with the national gendarme service said the driver was arrested soon after the incident Monday night in the town of Sept-Sorts.

The official said it is unclear whether the act was deliberate. The official was not authorized to be publicly named according to police policy.

Early reports from the scene tonight suggested that the male driver ‘pulled up close to the restaurant’ in a BMW car, and then ‘deliberately targeted it’.

The driver was arrested by the gendarmes . The man, who was driving a gray BMW, is 39 years old. He reportedly told police, in remarks confused, that He wanted to commit suicide and had weapons in his vehicle. Initial findings indicate that intelligence services are not known.

Just a note on this one. It sounds suspicious the way it was worded because a jihadi would also want to commit suicide…

And on the suspect’s motive:

I could be wrong but I think that would be better translated “He decided to do it again”.

The driver of the gray BMW would be a man born in 1985, unknown to the police. He wanted to end his days after missing his first attempt last week. The research section of Paris is on site to interrogate him.
