The sheriff of the county where the Parkland school shooting occurred is ordering armed deputies to patrol those schools as a deterrent.
In response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that left 17 dead and 16 injured on Feb. 14 in Parkland, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Wednesday that he is planning to issue rifles to trained resource deputies at local public schools.
But… are there already armed deputies there?
During a press conference, Israel told reporters that Broward Superintendent Robert W. Runcie supported the idea. Israel has also faced criticism for the department’s response to the shooting. He said there was an armed deputy on campus, but he did not fire his gun.
“His response and actions, like everyone else, will be scrutinized,” Israel said.
So are they ordering MORE armed deputies? It kinda sounds like this guy is just covering his butt after a horrible school shooting happened under his jurisdiction.
Well anyway, you can bet the media will go crazy about this too. They have really been on overdrive to help spread the message of the gun-grabbin’ kid victims because it matches their own political agenda. And what could go wrong with putting our constitutional rights in the hands of children? Wait… what?!
