Senate votes to go to conference committee with the House on tax bill, 51-47. House voted to go to conference Monday night. The House/Senate will blend their bills into a singular, unified bill. Much of the action expected to be behind the scenes, not in public— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) December 6, 2017
So what happens now is that a conference committee is formed from both House and Senate representatives and they hash out a compromise on the portions of the bills that are difference.
Once they reach a compromise, both the House and the Senate must approve it before it goes the president’s desk.
