Some scumbag walked up to a Sheriff’s Deputy in a busy restaurant and shot him in the head, beginning a chase that took the life of another Deputy, and that of the perpetrator.
Here’s a press conference about the attack:
Authorities say they were killed because they were cops:

From CBS Baltimore:
It was a terrifying 15 minutes. The first deputy was shot in the head at close range. The scene remains active at Panera, where it all unfolded.
The same man shoots two sheriff’s deputies in Harford County. The frightening chain of events unfolded within about 15 minutes just before noon Wednesday in a busy Abingdon shopping center.
Police say at 11:46 a.m., a man shot a sheriff’s deputy inside the Panera. The deputy had been responding to a call to the restaurant.
Eyewitnesses heard the single gunshot.
“Sat down and we’re eating and His head was shot right in the temple. They tried to rescusitate him. One of the guests in the restaurant actually chased him down,” said witness Lynn Faulkner.
Police say the man then fled nearby, where he shot another Harford County sheriff’s deputy, who then shot and killed him.
“Witnesses gave us very good information on the direction of travel and a location for the suspect. Responding law enforcement, to include everyone behind me, but in this case, a responding deputy was the first to locate the subject. And again, shots were fired,” said Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler, Harford County.
Amazingly, no one else was injured inside the busy restaurant.
Police believe no other suspects were involved.
“The sheriff came up to check the man and say, ‘Hi, how are you,’ because he’s a frequent visitor in there. I’ve seen him myself in there. He kind of hangs there. He’s a homeless, disheveled man. Once again, I think it’s PTSD. We all think–all the people who were in there who witnesses this–in talking, think that it was probably a man who knew what he was doing with a gun because he shot directly into his head. I mean, the man did not have a chance,” said Faulkner.
