President-elect Trump responded today to Obama’s new sanctions on Russia with this statement:
“It’s time for our country to move on to bigger and better things. Nevertheless, in the interest of our country and its great people, I will meet with the leaders of the intelligence community next week in order to be updated on the facts of the situation.”
Last night Trump said something similar, telling reporters that we “ought to get on with our lives” with Don King laughing at his side. He had also derided the CIA and other intelligence services during the campaign so it’ll be interesting to see what happens after he meets with them to review their conclusions. Intelligence agencies also released a report today in support of the sanctions and their assessment that Putin was ordered hacking of U.S. political targets for the sake of influencing the U.S. election.
