Breaking! TWO COPS SHOT, active shooter situation in New Haven [Updated]

Two police have been shot in New Haven, Connecticut, and it’s being reported that there’s an active shooter.

Two New Haven police officers were shot Saturday morning responding to an earlier shooting incident, city officials say.

A city spokesman says the shootings occurred along Elm Street, between Orchard Street and Sherman Avenue late in the morning.

Authorities say the officers were conscious following the shootings. There was no other information available on their conditions.

There’s not a lot of details yet, we’ll update as necessary….

UPDATE:

Hartman says officers responded to reports of gunfire. When they arrived, the victim had run from the home to a neighbor’s house after being shot by a relative who authorities believe is her husband. She was taken to a hospital.

Police say the suspect remains in the home and allegedly shot the two officers when they tried to find him.

Hartman says the officers, identified as Eric Pessino and Scott Shumway, sustained injuries to the arm that aren’t considered life-threatening.

A man accused of shooting two police officers and a woman during to a domestic dispute on Elm Street in New Haven, prompting a SWAT response and evacuations in the neighborhood, is in custody, according to the police chief.
The shooting occurred on Elm Street between Orchard Street and Sherman Avenue around 10:30 a.m.

It sounds like the police will be OK.
