Classy move:

BREITBART: In the aftermath of Ron Paul’s despicable tweet today slamming US Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, murdered on Saturday while helping a fellow soldier learn to cope with post traumatic stress syndrome, Paul’s son, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has told Breitbart News exclusively, “Chris Kyle was a hero like all Americans who don the uniform to defend our country. Our prayers are with his family during this tragic time.”

It would be wrong to punish the son for the sins of the father.

    • John3_3

De 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,

      • FreeManWalking

De 5:10 but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

        The rest of the story!

    • davienne

it would be, but thats what will happen…. shamfull..

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002997192223 Deborah Clemence

True. But how much of this is positioning because of his political ambitions. Clearly he wants to run in 2016. I want to be sure he does not hold his father’s positions before I lend my support. He has said openly he wants to eliminate aid to Israel… something his father supports. So, the jury is still out for me. I refuse to support anyone who puts their political ambitions ahead of everything else… I think Rubio might be in that camp too. Personally, I am watching Allen West and Ted Cruz!

      • Patrick Kapps

Foreign Aid is laughable and a slap in the face considering our roads receive less money than we dish out in Aid….

      • Guest1776rcp

My parents were JFK type Democrats and I’ve never voted for any Democrat on a national level in my life. I’d be willing to bet Rand thinks for himself too.

I’m all for selling Israel military hardware and not selling to muslim brotherhood controlled countries, but I’m not fine with giving handouts to any nation including Israel since we are borrowing forty cents of every dollar from China. Its unsustainable.

      • proverbs2611

Correction… “Clearly he wants to run in 2016, 2036, and 2040.”

      • http://twitter.com/commonsenseobse commonsenseobserver

Rubio is DEFINITELY in that camp, there’s no question about it. Question is which way Jeb goes.

Well, I’m not sure Rand wants to run anyway while his father is alive and tweeting.

      • 12grace

I am not sure about Rand Pauls position on illegals.

    • PatrickHenrysBody

      Daddy’s gonna be angwee.

    • http://politicalknow.blogspot.com/ SheerPolitics

I would argue the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. Ron Paul is retired and isn’t running for office–who knows what the son REALLY THINKS? He’s trying to position himself as a more moderate version of his father and, IMO, to have a better outcome if he runs for president.

  • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I guess class must have skipped a generation. Thank you Rand for that.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      I hope so!

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Me too. The jury’s still out lol..

  • Watchman74

Good to know that apple falls far from the tree.

    • Sober_Thinking

Ah DANG IT!!!!!! I said the exact same thing! You beat me to it! :)

  • Jenny5426

Yeah Rand is definitely not like his father in that sense … Who just doesn’t seem to think before he says things. Much more classy and self-aware. Good. Because he’s been a pretty effective Senator so far. One of the best actually.

  • nibblesyble

A resounding slap in the face to his Papa!

  • Jenny5426

Classy move… guess the apple fell far from the tree.

      • Sober_Thinking

You are the apple of my eye.

        ;)

      • cabensg

Actually we don’t know that. I doubt he’s given up all his libertarian ideals just because he showed respect for a fallen soldier.

  • CaseyGeorge

    “Orangeone: And he LOVES Illegals!!”

    just busting your chops :)

    • Orangeone

I was actually not going to mention his love for illegals but now that you brought it up :):):)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

Classy or Presidential, prolly both, either way good move Senator. Kids can learn from the wrongs of their parents.

    • Orangeone

Or political. Many other Repubs and Sen had tweets out yesterday.

  • notebene

I frankly think Ron Paul has dementia or something. He may have been intelligent at one time, but the way he is so unfiltered and rude is a golden sign that he has something not right in his head. This is why we need term limits in Congress! Letting these old, senile fools make decisions that are bad for our nation on a decades long tenure must stop! Ron Paul and this tragedy continue to make it clear that our country is failing in the area of mental health! It’s not the guns! It’s the mentally ill people with their hands on them and no real treatment options to help their families and friends to get them real help before it ends like this!
May God be with Chris Kyle and his family at this tragic time!

    • PVG

Agree 100%! Harry Reid comes to mind.

      • freenca

And a bunch of others as well, mostly from the leftist side of the aisle, but some from the right too!!!!

        • Orangeone

Or those that switch depending on the tide like McCain

          • freenca

Especially the expediency crowd!! They are the worst of them, no priciples, no conscience, no souls!!

    • PatrickHenrysBody

All those career politicians usually do get retired…by the grim reaper.

    • cabensg

Maybe he has gone a little soft in the head so expresses his ideas in a bombastic way, I don’t know. What I do know is no matter how bombastic to us, they are his beliefs and the beliefs of the people who supported him. As a conservative I could never support libertarian ideas. To me they are as foreign as socialism and would weaken America just as much.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQI5D66OXO7X2FE4NVCZC7BAMA Joe

    He was a HERO

Who knows how many lives he really saved!

    • 57thunderbird

      Probably countless.

  • bjohnson55

Rand cannot own what his father believes. Ron can do his son and the rest of us a favor and go into retirement, it is past time Ron.

    • Jenny5426

He did retire. But apparently it hasn’t stopped him from tweeting. I don’t really think Ron means to be a malicious person. After all, he’s a veteran. But he’s so unfiltered and doesn’t think about how offensive his comments come across. He should shut up for his son’s sake, though.

      • bjohnson55

Agreed, he really needs to shut his mouth.

        • Orangeone

          Duct tape comes to mind…..

        • PatrickHenrysBody

Like Zero, Ron Paul cannot help himself.

        • cabensg

As offensive as his remarks were it’s better we know. Just as I’m appalled and angry about what Obama says it’s better it be in the open so we can judge the content.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

        John Kerry’s a veteran too…

      • cabensg

He doesn’t have to think about his remarks because they are what he believes. Just because he changes them doesn’t mean they weren’t an honest statement to begin with.

      • tshtsh

He is probably jealous of his son.

    • Conniption Fitz

I certainly do not believe what my father or mother did – quite the opposite.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/MVMVLN267XCY2HS5KL25QTQRKQ John

I have a lot of faith in Rand. I told you people to stop freaking out.

  • 57thunderbird

I am glad that Rand had good things to say about this hero. However his voting on issues frustrates me to no end.Why on earth would he vote yes for amnesty?

    • RefudiateGOPe

There hasn’t been a vote on amnesty.

      • 57thunderbird

No,but judging by his statements on the subject,I have to assume that e is in favor.

    • MissMyGuy

What “vote” on amnesty? It is all just talk and political posturing right now.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

That will sink him more than anything his Father could ever do.

      • 57thunderbird

I hope he has a change of heart on the matter.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

Me too. Call his office and write him and put some pressure on. You don’t need to be in his district for that. The fact that they are relying on Napolitano and DHS to certify border when she has been caught lying repeatedly about it is beyond a scam. It is willful blindness and misuse of the public trust with the intent to deceive.

          • 57thunderbird

            I will do so,and I agree.

        • cabensg

Change of heart or change in his heart. That’s the question.

  • http://www.solitudebooks.com/ Dan C

Of course he was a hero! That is obvious!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR KOOK FATHERS STATEMENT? That is the question that needs to be asked by our so called conservative media.

Why didn’t Breitbart insist on getting an answer to THAT QUESTION I wonder?

The issue is not whether Kyle is a hero. He is, and it is obvious to everyone except the kooks. The issue is what does Rand Paul, who may want to be POTUS, think about his father’s lunatic comments?

This quote to Breitbart does not answer that question. It just states the obvious that kyle is a hero. My hunch is that Rand does not want to anger his dad’s kook supporters.

  • Orangeone

Well he is part of the cookie generation, kookie father on one side and a son on the other recently arrested for underage drinking…..

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/MVMVLN267XCY2HS5KL25QTQRKQ John

Are you saying it skipped a generation?

      • Orangeone

Time will tell on that for me. But what I do know is that he has a lot to deal with on either side of his generation. Cookie generation I guess is the new term for those with both kids and aging parents to care fore.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/MVMVLN267XCY2HS5KL25QTQRKQ John

Rand has three kids, the middle one (Duncan) is the one I have hopes for… but let him go to college first. It’s a long term project.

          • Orangeone

Thanks for the insight. Duncan wasn’t the one in recent trouble, right?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZVCGRG62NAGQXJ6ZNE4JCTVVTU Ray

I am not sure about the disconnect between Rand and his father, however hid father made a despicable statement today about a fellow Texan, and veteran.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dax-Dushkewich/100000887223076 Dax Dushkewich

I’m really starting to like this guy…

  • MissMyGuy

I’m not one to hold kids responsible for parents or parents responsible for kids, ie Reagan. But this answer was not sufficient to address the horrible remark his Dad made. This was a PASSIVE response. Not something a leader would say. Just something a politician would say.

    • cabensg

If it had been someone other than his Father I expect we would have heard more. I haven’t seen him back down from controversy before. What would you have said publicly about your own Father. I think he handled it diplomatically.

  • americalsgt

Thanks Rand. Every now and again, one of my three sons have to clean up for my stupidity too. BTW, today, the government sent me a letter saying that my DD 214 was incorrect and that they had made a mistake. They deleted my BSM with one oak leaf cluster, and made it a BSM with two oak leaf clusters. WTF

  • Rshill7

Just think. It’s quite probable that Rand Paul and Ron Paul could be opponents in the next Republican Presidential Primary :-)

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

      I would laugh so hard!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

    Good job Rand!

  • 57thunderbird

Ted Cruz is still #1 in my book.I just wish he was my senator.

    • ryanomaniac

He’s mine. We love him…so far.

  • c4pfan

It is a mega pet peeve of mine that people want a child or a parent to react to something the other does! Ron Paul is the person who said it and is the only one who should be questioned about it!

    • cabensg

Ain’t gonna happen. It delights the press to much.

  • Patrick Kapps

“all Americans who don the uniform to defend our country

  • sjmom

Glad to see Rand speak up and praise an American hero, may he rest in peace.

  • james1051

    good
He has to get distance from his creepy dad

    • FreeManWalking

Are you hoping the tree falls a great distance from the NUT!

    • sjmom

Thanks ABC, glad to know this. :)

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I just happened to see it because the one who called him out is one of my awesome military followers. It was great!!

    • Patrick Kapps

Ron still was the best candidate last time around, even after all this that I disagree with.

    • martha chandler

What he wrote was bad enough, but the sentiment was despicable. This man fought for our country and our freedom. Ron Paul must be senile. He should apologize to Mr. Kyle’s family.

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I so agree martha!! An apology would be a little better at least.

    • chatterbox365

LOL!!! Looks like the retweet made a bad situation worse.

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

        I know! What a putz.

  • chatterbox365

Glad Rand Paul showed some class and respect, unlike his idiot father.

  • poljunkie

    Good for Rand.

We are not responsible for what our parents or our children say or do ( even though often times we’d like to think we can control them, and hope we have great influence over them).

  • UnCL3

I have to be honest…Rand’s father Ron is a nutjob and has James Jones, Heaven’s Gate and Manson type followers; rabid loons.
On the other hand, I can’t think of anything I’ve heard from Rand that I haven’t agreed with or thought was an honest position for him to take…quite unlike his dad.

I could be wrong; obviously I haven’t heard EVERYTHING the guy said. What I have heard in various interviews has been genuine…he doesn’t strike me as a phony hypocrite like daddy Ron.

  • 12grace

I like Rand Paul much better that his Dad.

  • cabensg

I do like Rand and his actions as a Senator are much needed but being circumspect in language can hide deep beliefs. I don’t believe in this particular instance he was just being circumspect but overall I doubt very much his beliefs are that far from his fathers. We can’t afford an isolationist any more than we can afford the communist we now have.

  • susiepuma

Poor Rand – this is called CYA – ‘cuz he’s trying to be somebody’s party candidate for Prez in 2016………….. good luck with that….loser

  • Reb Biker

I used to be a rabid Ron Paul supporter in 2008. It’s a shame Ron flipped his wig. What a terrible loss to our nation.
