Brother of Malaysian airliner victim says Christian faith obligates them to forgive the murderers

Australian Drew Ryder spoke to Anderson Cooper about his family’s reaction to the death of his brother and sister-in-law in the missile attack on the Malaysian airliner in Ukraine. In the interview, he said that his brother and their family are devout Christians and their faith demands that they forgive those who transgressed against them.

Watch below:

Drew’s explanation:

“We’re strong Christians, our faith is very important to us and part of that faith tradition says that we should forgive those that wronged us. In this case we know that there some terrible things were done. We don’t know who was responsible. It’s not important for us to come after those people. If anything we want to forgive them for some things they’ve done here that they shouldn’t have done.”

Whether this family personally forgives them or not, the culprits should be brought to justice as swiftly as possible. Even so, the profession of faith by the Ryder family during such an awful trial is noble and commendable.
