Budget Director Mulvaney explains what Trump’s ‘good shutdown’ tweet meant

White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney explained why Trump said that they were looking at a “good shutdown” to fix things in Washington D.C.

Watch below:

Here’s the tweet they referenced:

This sounds a lot like Trump talking purely to the far right base that has absolutely no problem with a government shutdown and actually looks forward to it. Mulvaney explains it well, and defends it well – he’s a really good spokesperson for this White House.

BUT consider how Trump’s tweet is a bomb for Republicans. We can’t whine about the media putting any government shutdown unfairly on Republicans anymore. We have to own it, because the head of the GOP just blithely admitted that he WANTS a government shutdown. Enjoy that next September.

Now, imagine you’re Mulvaney you’re trying to craft a message for the White House before hostile press members, and the guy you’re defending is sitting back in the Oval Office, tweeting rhetorical MISSILES just TWO minutes before you have to go out there!! How is that anything but irrational and careless? I honestly feel bad for the guy.
