Looks like Jason Chaffetz is running for Speaker to replace John Boehner, according to this Capitol Hill Roll Call reporter who reports specifically on the U.S. House of Representatives:
A GOP member says Chaffetz is in fact running for Speaker and they're checking to see if he wants to join a candidate forum Tuesday night.

When Chaffetz took Mark Meadows's subcommittee gavel, the HFC met with Chaffetz and told him he was someone they thought *could* be Speaker.

(Obviously the whole episode with Chaffetz taking Meadows's gavel isn't going to help him with conservatives.)

So far we know Daniel Webster and Kevin McCarthy are now Jason Chaffetz is running. With McCarthy’s recent gift to the Democrats, Chaffetz may be able to seize on that and pull support away from McCarthy.
The election is on Oct. 8.
