CHART OF THE DAY: Where Obama projected unemployment would have been without the TRILLION dollar stimulus

Jim Pethokoukis has an interesting chart up today, plotting current unemployment numbers versus where Obama projected it would be with AND without the 2009 trillion dollar stimulus:

The top dotted line represents where unemployment is currently at today at 8.1%. However the most interesting thing about this chart is that it shows that Obama projected unemployment would have been less than 6% WITHOUT the stimulus, around 5.9%.

So basically this chart shows we would have been much better off without the trillion dollar stimulus given where we currently are.

Or what it really means is that this administration didn’t have a freaking clue what it was doing when it made these charts. It wanted to spend spend spend and created this chart just to try and swing public opinion toward approval.

This just proves Obama is nothing more than an empty suit laying on an empty chair.

Go read Pethokoukis’ entire report on unemployment today. It’s excellent.

The only thing that you can depend on from Obama is more lies and deceptions about his other lies and deceptions. The most terrifying part of what is happening is that 40% of the American people believe he is what he is not. The only truth is if more stupid people vote than intelligent people, the demonrats will win.

    • sDee

I would put the number more like 90% Don because most independents and Republicans simply believe he is a failure, a disaster, incompetent, or in over his head.

Very few truly understand he is a marxist ideologue or that a major portion of his party and the media know it. Nor they really comprehend that his disasters are intentional destruction, or do they understand implications of his debt bomb, or the seeds of oppression, misery and death he has planted in the islamic bloc, which will bear their evil fruit for generations to come.

The level of propaganda and deception is indeed terrifying, as is the silence of those in a position to tell the 90%.

To have been president in an era which ostensibly was coined as “the greatest recession since the Great Depression”, one would think the powers that be would’ve, could’ve, should’ve, taken a lesson from that time to avoid the very same errors that extended it for a decade, just as it has extended this one.

    • sDee

Perhaps they did take their lessons well from that time Rshill. The crisis engineered during the Great Depression served FDR well to coerce Americans in to trading great liberties for the perceived safety of the central government.

Have the engineers of this one strayed very far?

      • Rshill7

Nope. That’s my point. They should’ve learned from that. Instead, they emulated it.

        • sDee

Maybe we are saying the same thing – I am not sure 🙂

What I am trying to say is that I believe our current government did learn from the Great Depression, that such a crisis can be exploited to grow the power of central government, and to take the liberty and wealth of citizens and private enterprise.

So I maintain that they intentionally emulated both the economic crisis of the Great Depression, and the means to extend it. The Hussein regime knew full well that TARP, the Stimulus Package, Green Energy, HusseinCare, debt ceiling bumps, money printing, borrowing and payroll tax cuts would not improve jobs or any other economic indicators.

It was a massive transfer of wealth to their advantage. No errors at all – success all around for the politcal class and their patrons.

  • More proof that the stimulus/recovery plan was a complete waste of time and money!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, NObama is the anti-Midas! Everything he turns his hand to turns to horse manure!

Hope and Change? Nope! It’s Hype and Chains!

  • Sober_Thinking

And a pathetic portion of America is swallowing his lies, hook-line-and sinker.

Neil Boortz (who can be a jackass), said an interesting thing the other day. He said something to the effect of, “I’m beginning to think that many Americans are too stupid to live free.” I’m starting to agree. The fact that ANYONE is buying what this Liar-and-Chief is selling is mind-numbing. The fact that the polls are so close is staggering. The fact that he might still win is shameful. Americans have no excuse for being this fooled… this selfish, this dumb.

Thank God there are conservatives, Tea Party patriots, Christians, and many more people who still love our country and care about it’s future who are bridging the gap and fighting to save this great nation – in spite of the lemmings who are following Obama over the cliff.

    • sDee

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
      – Samuel Adams

      • Sober_Thinking

        Brilliant response! Simply brilliant! 🙂

    • CO2isGood

Don’t worry about the polls, all they really reflect are the desires of the pollsters, and remember….

      Nov 1980, Gallup Pre-Election Poll

      Carter 44%
      Reagan 41%

      Final Results

      Reagan 50.7%
      Carter 41.0%

      • And don’t forget, 57 mins after Reagan got sworn in in 1980, Iran released the American hostages…something that Carter couldn’t do. We have another Carter in the WH..someone that is weak and our enemies know it!

      • Sober_Thinking

        That is encouraging. Thanks! 🙂

    • The Monster

Boortz is retiring on Inauguration Day. He can say what he thinks without worrying about who might go after him. And he’s right most of the time. The “Obama Money” people are too stupid to live free. The problem is they get to vote us all into bondage.

      • Sober_Thinking

You are correct on all counts.

It’s sad that some people get to vote and only have to show their EBT card (food stamps) as I.D.

  • Smith Smith

Obama has already responded to this, it worse then we thought….which says that You and the people you appointmented were not smart enought to realize that the policy that the dems created and Bush was silly enough to sign, were so reckless. That it wqas more impacting then you thought and the hope of a 1trill plug to fix the leak was the wrong direction.

But they will never see that!

  • cathmom

“Or what it really means is that this administration didn’t have a freaking clue what it was doing when it made these charts”

Oh yes they did………they knew exactly what they were doing

  • Unlike the hockey stick graph, this one is real.

  • And what you never hear is what Democrats have to say to Americans for flushing almost $1 TRILLION down the toilet on “stimulus.” What CAN they say, “Ooooops, we tried?” You didn’t hear a word about the stimulus during the Democratic Convention. Yet the money is gone and we are now stuck with the bill. Nobody is ever held accountable for these screw ups. Time to hold Obama AND the Democrats accountable for this one in November.

Plus, some facts about our budget deficit.

    Some people have short memories…..

I’ve been saying this for years, but this email probably explains it
better and more clearly. This is NOT a political message, but rather
a clarification to remind us all of the correct facts.

Remember that on October 9, 2007, 11 months before our “economic
crisis” occurred (that was actually created), the Dow hit its highest
point ever, closing at 14,164.53 and reaching 14,198.10 intra-day
level 2 days later. Unemployment was steady at 4.7%. But things were
already being put in place to create the havoc
we’ve all been experiencing since then. And it all started, as this email explains,
    on January 3, 2007. –LFL

I’m sending this to each of you regardless of your party preferences
because I believe it is something you may not have considered.

This tells the story, why Bush was so “bad” at the end of his term.

Don’t just skim over this, it’s not very long, read it slowly and let
it sink in. If in doubt, check it out!!!

The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was
actually January 3rd 2007, which was the day the Democrats took over
the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the
    110th Congress.

The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the
first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy
that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this: January 3rd, 2007
was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress.

    At the time:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
    The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

    Remember the day…
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House
Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate
Banking Committee. The economic meltdown that happened 15 months
later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL

Unemployment… to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping
5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie
    Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in
2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie
Mac? OBAMA And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA
    and the Democrat Congress.

So when someone tries to blame Bush. REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007….

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and
the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 &
    2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused
them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough
    on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush
entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running
until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a
massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that
very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he
signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the
last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five
years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After
that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that
includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a
nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted
for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since
    January 20th.

    • Nukeman60

Excellent post, Mike. Throughout our history, it’s whoever controlled Congress that set the narrative for our progress.

Carter had Dems controlling both the House and Senate. Reagan had a bipartisan Congress until the very end, when Dems took over. H.W. Bush had to deal with both House and Senate controlled by Dems. Clinton started out with total Dem control and it switched to full Republican after 2 years. GW had Reps controlling for 6 years, then in ’07 the Dems took over both Houses of Congress until ’11, when we gained the House.

You can see why Carter’s reign was a disaster (total Dem control). Reagan did wonders with a bipartisan Congress and we prospered. Clinton started out in trouble (total Dem control for the first two years), but turned things around after he got a full Republican Congress (and he claimed great successes). GW was excelling till the Dems got control in ’07 and we all know what disaster it was from then on.

So, whenever the Dems try to tell us Clinton was great after ’95 and Bush was horrible after ’07, just look at who controlled Congress and you will see the truth.

Thanks for this Great article with tons of information. Being an educator I always tell my students to check any data they use in a report. As a retired SFC with the army, I always tell my students to lead one must lead by example. Could you tell me where you extracted this information? Again, this information needs to be known by our youth as well as the current generation. When I am outside the school, I like to indulge in debate with any how are willing to hear the truth, and accept it. Too many lies are perpetrated today and the problem is no one is willing to search for the truth. The words “The truth will set you free” is needed more now than ever before. Again thanks for the information.

      • MiketheMarine

All you’ve got to do is google the 110th congress and you will get every person included, who had power and what bills they passed. I agree with you that civilians have not a clue, in general, how to vet info. Our military service taught us that incorrect info can get you killed.

        • armyvet10

Thank you, and you are absolutely correct. Your verbiage of “incorrect info can get you killed” is spot on. The worst of this is when corrupt people tell half truths leading others to believe huge lies. Thanks again

Not worth the 6 to 10 trillion in debt (period)

“Start packing your bags Mr.President the END of your REGIME is near .”(period)

  • B-Funk

I don’t know about unemployment, but our debt would be less… That chart just makes it clear it was completely unnecessary to spend all that money for nothing. Even if the unemployment was still 8.x%

obama is the Spinmeister!!!!! But it’s hard to spin empty words and empty promises!!!!

I am going to list my background just to make a point. I am a 66 year old African American and former democrat. I earned a MS in Chemistry. With that degree I was taught to think objectively. I want to let the people on this site in on a secret. Obama is not appealing to people on the basis of their intellect but on the basis of emotions. That is the essence of the guy, that is the reason for the lofty speeches “full of sound and fury signifying nothing”. In addition to advice given by others on this site I think Romney should take Clinton’s advice because IT IS A MATTER OF ARITHMETIC. Clinton sneakedly told Romney how to defeat Obama. I know the American people are simple-minded and its hard for them to understand arithmetic. The arithmetic of the stimulus is devastating. An $830,000,000,000 stimulus that by his own admission created or “saved” 2,500,000 jobs. That is $332,000/job. That is absurd and even an ignorant person can understand that Obama has to be the stupidest president ever to pay over $300,000 for each job. Ads need to show this stupid man every day. Even using 3 million jobs that is still $277,000/job. Seven million of the then 14 million could have been sent a check for $118,571 cutting the uemployment by 50%. If arithmetic is used to discuss his green jobs initiative, green enorgy programs and GM bailout on the basis of money spent and jobs created or in the case of GM jobs saved you will find that the facts are horrific. The numbers are $633,333/job, $482,000/job respectively. I do not have the figures for GM because I dont’ have the number of jobs saved and I forgot the amount of money spent. My estimate is 50 billion for 1 million jobs for a cost of $50,000/job. I think it is more than that. ARITHMETIC, ARITHMETIC ARITHMETIC WILL TAKE DOWN THIS IDIOT. NO ONE WANTS TO VOTE FOR AN IDIOT.

    • bobemakk

You are a smart man and it is too bad that so many people in the US are politically uneducated. Obama didn’t even object to GM building an $80 billion plant in Communist China instead of paying US back what they owe US. GM is probably at the lowest point in their history. Their stock must reach over $50 for them to become profitable, and the last I heard it was around $22.

  • No excuses. We have to get Obama out of there…
