We’ve told you how the fascist Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, is using his government to punish people for ‘insulting’ him, and he’s doing it at a pretty high frequency these days.
Well now it’s he’s prosecuting CNN’s sister station in Turkey, CNN Türk, all because they were simply reporting the news:
HURRIYET – An investigation was launched on Jan. 25 into CNN Türk on claims that the private broadcaster “insulted” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a news report on a recent lawsuit opened by Erdoğan against Turkey’s main opposition leader.
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into CNN Türk’s editor and the producer of its morning news program after it used the word “dictator” on its news ticker, during a report on Erdoğan’s lawsuit against Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu over the latter’s recent remark that the president is a “sham dictator.”
CNN Türk’s news ticker read “‘Dictator” on trial,” using the word in quotation marks.
The complaint filed by Erdoğan’s lawyers followed a probe launched by prosecutors earlier on Jan. 18 into Kılıçdaroğlu for the same remarks.
So CNN uses the word ‘dictator’ in quotes their chyron to represent the remark made by the CHP leader, and now they are being accused of insulting the president? Pretty soon even neutral reporting of the news in Turkey won’t be allowed.
Erdogan isn’t just a fascist, he’s a megalomaniac who is squashing any and all dissent wherever he can find it. At this rate he’ll be Sultan/Caliph before you can blink.
