Colleges across the country trying for “Christmas-free Campuses” this December because of tolerance

“Deck the halls with non-specific inoffensive decor that at most hints that events of note to some may occur sometime in the near future!”

Boy that really doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? But that’s the fake lyrics version of what college campuses in America envision for their future, and the future of your kids as they head off to these indoctrination factories.

You see, because Christmas is a Christian holiday (not to mention a generally celebrated holiday even among non-religious people) it is considered offensive to decorate for that holiday. Or, you know, say the words associated with it.

University of California, Irvine, doesn’t want their snowflakes to see anything more Christmas-y than actual snowflakes.

The logic on this isn’t exactly clear, but it generally goes “something something diversity white privilege”. You know the drill.

UCI’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity provided guidelines for “inclusive and sensitive” celebrations that requests “office celebrations are not indirectly celebrating religious holidays.” Instead they’re encouraged to “display diverse symbols representing a variety of faith traditions along with secular ones.”

Ohio University also said publicly displayed decorations “should be secular in nature.”

And more:

But Baby Jesus isn’t the only one caught in the campus crossfire – Santa, himself, is taboo at one university.

The State University of New York, Brockport suggests a grab bag instead of a “secret Santa” gift exchange.

“Keep decorations general and non-specific to any religion,” the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s guideline reads. “Create a winter theme with lights and color rather than religious icons.”

It’s not a matter of a “War on Christmas”. It’s not a conspiracy either. This highlights a particular way of thinking, one prevalent at colleges and universities. It’s a fake sort of liberal racist paternal concern for non-white, non-Christian culture, along with an illogical theory that witnessing the exercise of a belief system you don’t participate in is somehow an assault on you.

Fox and Friends had a college student and Campus Reform writer on air this weekend to discuss.

Christmas is alive and well in America, and here to stay. But so is idiocy on college campuses. You can accept that both things are true. It’s a war on common sense.
