However they also report that after Trump’s phone calls today to Israel, the Palestinians, Jordan and Egypt declaring his intent to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, Trump WILL delay moving the it for another six months.
However in his announcement that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, they report, he will call on these leaders to step up preparations for the embassy to be moved.
It sounds to me like he does intend to move it and wants to give them time to prepare. So we’ll see.
But if this all stands as reported, then kudos to him for making the decision to announce Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.
It’s not just the right thing to do, but it’s an acknowledgement of reality that past presidents didn’t want to do. As the reporter indicated, the consequences for this big step could be explosive.
