He’s right, and it comes down to people just misunderstanding how trade works, and how markets work. They believe that once America achieved incredible wage increases in the fifties that they should have stayed growing and getting better at the same rate forever. There are all sorts of logical reasons why that just can’t be the case, but instead Americans are turning away from free trade solutions and embracing an orange-faced idiot who is promising them that he can overcome the laws of economics.
