Olivia Munn has begun an outrage among liberals based on the reporting from someone at the Met Gala who paraphrased her comments about the crusades.
She deleted the tweet, but I got a screenshot:
What got people freaking out is that she said that she “loved the Crusades.” And why wouldn’t you?! It was a glorious defense of Western Civilization against barbarism and blasphemy!! But you can’t say that kind of stuff anymore, no matter how true it is.
Later, the reported explained what she actually meant:
Oh, for crying out loud, all you guys jumping all over Olivia Munn — she meant she loved the fashion of that period, the liquid bias-cut gowns and the chainmail and headpieces ...

Sorry I couldn’t be clearer in a 20-second tweet; when you work #MetGala carpet, you’ll understand.
But it was too late, liberals were already imploding in stupid anger all over the internets:
https://twitter.com/bkerogers/status/993625768902176768My brain is not processing this. Her love of the crusades? So like, her love of horrendous bloodshed, annihilation of ancient cities and a religious war that sought to destroy irreparably the cultural fabric of the Middle East? Ah right, ok. https://t.co/6erKPRSNKw

Q: “If you could live in any time period, when would it be?”

Person 1: “Ooh, Belle Époque so nostalgically romantic”
Person 2: “Hmm... maybe the Roaring 20s: flappers, Jazz, Art Deco.”
Olivia Munn: “Definitely The Crusades” pic.twitter.com/Tea1pUPXKc
I'm guessing Olivia Munn said she was inspired by the Crusades because "decades of religious-based pillaging and murder" is too long to roll easily off the tongue.

commemorating olivia munn's love of the crusades by blockading her in the galilean desert at spearpoint until she begs for a merciful death at the Turk's hand

"Whoops, I glorified the Crusades" was not one of the squares I personally expected to check on this Obviously A Bad Idea Met Gala theme, so congrats for getting somebody out there an unexpected bingo, Olivia Munn

https://twitter.com/BucarLiz/status/993645213213249537watching twitter barely notice when a celeb refers to her gown as inspired by her ‘love of the crusades’ (!?) is a good reminder that folks don’t even *understand* how to give a shit about Arabs
