Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins Open Thread

Tonight is a huge night. The winner of the Cowboys/Redskins game tonight is definitely in the playoffs. But I have full confidence that my Cowboys will leave the Redskins wondering what happened to them at the end of the night. I predict the Cowboys win by at least 14 points. 35-21. But as long as they win, I don’t care how close it is. It airs on Sunday Night Football on NBC.

Hummmm, I wonder which team Scoop supports…… 🙂

    • proudhispanicconservative

      Lol me too.

    • MiketheMarine

Go Cowboys, I mean, dang. I guess there is always next year.

  • leel004

    Rightscoop….ah shucks, I am disappointed in you….cowboys? 🙁

    G O. R E D S K I N S !!! Go R G 3 !

    • Orangeone

Lee, can I be your BFF for tonight’s game????

  • proudhispanicconservative

Sorry schoop but Griffin the third is the best player in football and is going to get it done tonight, and since my Giants lost today nothing will make me feel better than a Dallas Cowboys loss.

    • Gtrjag

He’s still a rookie. Let’s not get carried away.

      • proudhispanicconservative

I know, but anybody that was raised by military parents, and is a class human being in my mind is the best.

      • Well it appears RGIII just carried the entire Dallas Cowboy team to the nearest golf course for the winter.

But like PHC states below…his upbringing sets him apart from the rest. He’s a special guy. Brady/Manning special.

    • Conservative_Hippie

The Giants won 42-7? I know because they beat my team, the Philadelphia Eagles (RIP)

      • Gtrjag

I feel your pain. I’m a Jaguar fan.

  • tinlizzieowner

As far as I’m concerned, if it’s not capable of leaving clouds of burning rubber behind it, it ain’t a ‘sport’. 😉 😉 First and last post on this topic.

    • Orangeone

But please post other topics since this is an O/T

  • Cheering hard for RGIII, Josh Morgan, Will Montomery, and Deangelo Hall

Miss Hitlary pulling another “I’m unavailable to testify on Benghazi” move? http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Secretary-of-State-Hillary-Clinton-admitted-to-4155958.php?cmpid=twitter

    Edit: Added link

    • Conservative_Hippie

She apparently suffered a blood clot from her concussion.

      • Orangeone

It’s trending on Twitter.  Many, many, many think this is another Head Fake so she doesn’t testify again!  This will get her off the hook because Kerry will be sworn in and 2016 will be her focus.

      • I”m guessing there is something much more serious wrong with her. The “concussion” may be real, but what caused her to fall so heavy? And now they reveal a blood clot. I think she’s in much more serious trouble. Keeping it all hush-hush so it won’t hurt her 2016 run me thinks.

  • bjohnson55

I feel sorry for either one of these teams. They are going to have to play the Seattle Seahawks next week.

    • BHliberty

      Ya! Go Seahags!

    • Martin2717

Seattle has to go on the road. Not the same team on the road like they are at home.

  • Gtrjag

    I’m rooting against the Cowboys.

  • sjmom

There are some Scoopers like me who don’t care who wins but who are very glad today was the last game of the regular season, which means in another 6 weeks its all over until next year. Hip, Hip Hooray!!!!!!!!!!

    Just kidding guys…………or am I? 🙂

    • Orangeone

I don’t watch football either but it’s fun to root against Scoop (ooops he might give me a demerit for that)

    • c4pfan

      I’m right there with ya!

      • sjmom

Knew I wasn’t alone on this one. Gotta stick together. 🙂 🙂

    • LOL I was afraid I was not completely Americanized because I’m still not into football! I kind’a wish hockey would get their crap together though so I can see a game. sigh. Guess I just have to be bored waiting for Baseball 😉

      • Orangeone

If you like hockey you might like professional lacrosse. They call it hockey with balls. It is very fast moving and high scoring, the guys are hot too!

        • I grew up watching my brother play lacrosse. I didn’t even know people still played. lol on the hot guys. I could say something to that- but I think I’ll keep it to myself lol!

    • Conservative_Hippie

Well sjmom, if you’re an Eagles’ fan like I am, next season can’t come soon enough! Hopefully with a new Head Coach!

    • Nukeman60

Six more weeks, huh. Would that be football groundhog day, then? (or groundgame day?)

  • NYGino

Until the third of February, 2013 the New York Giants are still the Super Bowl Champions.

    • bjohnson55

The only way that will not change is if the Mayan calendar actually ends on February 2nd 2013.

      • NYGino

Wish that were so 55 but the G men were eliminated from the playoffs today.

edit: wait I think I misunderstood your post, sorry about that.

    • lol Sorry NY. 😉 How are you tonight? Did you have a good day?

      • NYGino

Hey ABC, too cold to ride, depressing political shows this morning, the Giants were eliminated and tried a new carrot and fresh beet slaw recipe that bombed (too much Dijon) but on the whole the day wasn’t too bad, thanks. Et vous?

        • Yes, I’m wearing 2 pairs of pants, and 2 shirts right now, shivering lol.
Well, I had church this morning. The sermon was on being grateful in all things. Coming home, I got rear ended on the highway as I was waiting to turn into my road. I’m thankful I’m not writing this from a hospital bed. Thankful that the damage, while more than what we can afford to pay right now wasn’t worse. I hope the guy who took off will have a change of heart and report it. Other than that, I’ve been seeing my favorite guys on Scoop- so I’m good 🙂

          • NYGino

Like the optimistic child said when given a large pile of horse manure for Christmas,
“This is great! There’s got to be a pony under there somewhere.”

            • That’s it. I gotta say life has been not very boring in the past few years… There’s gotta be one heck of a pony around somewhere. I just gotta keep looking 😉

  • Orangeone

    Interception RedSkins!!!!

    Make that a 2nd interception!

  • Sober_Thinking

I like RGIII alot. But if the Cowboys win… Seattle will face what I perceive as the weaker team.

I know no one here likes or roots for the Seahawks… with their history, I can’t blame you. But they are my choice and hope for the NFC.

This should be a great game tonight.

    • NYGino

Gotta love Seattle’s “12th man” though. Perennial team MVPs, all of them.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Thanks Gino. I appreciate that.

Side note… just in case you know, care or follow it. Can you tell me what’s up with the NY Jets? I’m confused why they went out and got Teboe but wouldn’t put him in when it seemed like they should. I feel like they dissed him. Thoughts?

        • NYGino

Hiring Tebow was a symptom of what I call the Jets “culture of confusion”. It was like pouring gasoline on an already out of control fire. Nobody knew what to do with him or how to use his abilities (and not necessarily as a QB). It brought more unrest to an already dysfunctional locker room and eroded any chance of developing Mark Sanchez along, destroyed his confidence.

Of course this is only a symptom of the real problem, which starts with their General Manager, Mike Tannenbaum. (15 years with the Jets). Bad decisions, lack of stability, no consistent long range planning etc. Much the same can be said of the Miami Dolphins and their G.M., Jeff Ireland.

Interesting that another AFC East team, one of the best teams ever for a long time, doesn’t even have a G.M. to mess things up, the Patriots, where Belicheck is not only coach but basically also the G.M.

          • Sober_Thinking

Great points and thanks for the insight.

My boss lives near Dallas and loves his Cowboys (he’s likely hurting today) – he says some of the same things about Jerry Jones. He feels that Jones ruins the Cowboys – at least lately.

What a shame. My condolences if you’re a fan.

            • NYGino

That is a very prevalent feeling among Cowboy fans. Jerry Jones, owner AND General manager, talk about your opportunities to screw things up especially with an ego like his! I was talking to one of my sons yesterday, an ex Marine (is there such a thing?) who lives in a suburb of Dallas who is a die hard Jets fan (“Dad, you should have warned me about becoming a Jets fan, you should have told me to expect years and years of heart wrenching frustration”).

I suggested that the Cowboy’s almost expected second half of the season faltering is directly a result of Jones starting to walk the sidelines about then, or, at least sticking his nose into the actual game. He suggested the problem does have to do with Jones but more so because of his penchant to draft or bring on board “flash” players whose credentials have some, shall we say, questionable characteristics and aren’t around for the long haul.

***SCOOP***, as a Dallas fan, your input would be welcomed on this matter.

It also didn’t help the way Coach Landry was dispatched (bad Karma?) much the same as Coach Shula (bad Karma again?).

I’m not talking goats and unfortunate trades here (Cubs and Red Sox), but maybe portents of things to come based on the thinking of incoming string pullers.

Anyway S_T, thanks for the condolences but if you look closely at my posting name, I’m sure you can figure out where my allegiances lie.

              • Sober_Thinking

                Huge smile.

Thanks again for the insights. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

You’re that guy with the fireman’s helmet on aren’t you? 😉

                • NYGino

S_T, no. He’s the Jets fan. Could have been my brother though, who’s been a Jets fan even before they were the Jets, when they were the Titans. Look it up.

No, my blood runs blue, team wise, not political, but I’m pretty sure you know that by now.

                • NYGino

By the way, Largent and Zorn?, Did it get any better? Top ten QB/Receiver all time.

                • Sober_Thinking

My wife would kiss you on the cheek for saying that! 🙂

                • Sober_Thinking

                  I’m with you. 🙂

Happiest of New Years to you (even with the devil in the WH).

    • DCGere

Lifelong Seahawks fan here! Can’t wait for next weeks’ game 🙂

      • Sober_Thinking

Thanks m8. They’ll have their hands full with the Redskins… but I honestly think they can beat them – even away.

    • badbadlibs

I like and root for the Seahawks 🙂

      • Sober_Thinking

        Thanks m8!

I’d like to see them make it to the big game… they seem to have the fire in their belly this year. Fingers croosed. 🙂

  • NYGino

OK, all NFL fans will disappear from this site now, the game has started. See you at halftime.

  • proudhispanicconservative

RJ hasnt looked good today!!!!!! maybe a little nervous

  • I think I already posted this once in an O/T or else I tweeted it lol. Can’t remember, but I’m in this kind of mood right now…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FPcA7rNbTs

    • Orangeone

Must have missed the tweet, thanks for posting here!

      • Here’s another one, a little more mellow but timely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PLwsDvaURY

        • MeanGreenBeret

Here is one for my favorite Duckie.

You have been watching too much War Porn girl.

          • One of my most favorite Pink Floyd songs…. it’s funny, I just downloaded it about a half hour ago to my mp3 and was thinkin’ the same about a certain Green Guy 🙂
            Evenin’ myGB!

            • MeanGreenBeret

Cool song and he has a hot looking wife.

Not looking too good for the Cowboys football team tonight.

              • Hot looking wife. Yeah, I’ll keep quiet on that one. I’d say good about the Cowboys, but I might get banned lol. When I first moved to the States, I lived in Texas for 2 and a half years and got SOOOO sick of the Cowboys. 🙂 I’m still too much into baseball I guess to get too excited about football.

                • MeanGreenBeret

I’m probably gonna sit out on the Football fights too.I don’t want to make any enemies.Personally I am a Steelers fan.Just like Uncle Rush.

                • Good idea. I always knew you were smart! 🙂 I don’t mind talkin’ about other stuff myself right now.. just not hot women 😉 They intimidate me.

                • MeanGreenBeret

They shouldn’t.You are one hot little mama yourself.Faith is cute but she is probably a stuck up air head in real life.

                • Aw you’re sweet. Hot duckie. oy, I could make a joke about that.

                • MeanGreenBeret

Sorry to hear about you getting rear ended today.i hope you are all right.

I hope this funny one will put a smile on that Duck-bill tonight.

I don’t know if you have seen this yet but it’s hilarious.

                • That made me LOL! oh man, that looks like something my dad would have done, except now he’s quite the computer geek.

Thank you myGB. Yeah, it’s weird. Back home I drove in the worst kinds of weather, I’ve driven thousands of miles, many times by myself and never had an accident. But now within the past 5 years, I’ve been in 2, both the other’s faults. Thank God he hit me as he was trying to pass around me on the shoulder- the fool. He wiped out a couple of the highway markers as he did, watched him fishtail into the last one before he stopped about 40 ft past. I turned into my road, got out to look, then was going to go see if he was alright and he took off. Sigh. It could have been worse. Folks go that highway too fast. It’s 60mph, but most folks go 70. It’s a bad highway for accidents.

  • Rshill7

RG3 is a little like Rshill7 except for the 4 extra digits.

    • LOL silly mybear!

    • NYGino

With 4 extra digits Rs you would make an excellent receiver.

    • Listening to one of my favorite Rshill songs right now. Downloaded a couple of mybear’s songs to my mp3 🙂

  • Conservative_Hippie

It breaks my heart, RS, to learn you’re a cowboy’s fan! This Eagles’ fan will be rooting for the Redskins, because, alas, Philadelphia is finished and there is now way in heck I will ever root for the cowboys!

    • NYGino

Liberalism and being a cowboy fan are both mental disorders.

      • Rshill7

        uh oh.

      • DOH!

      • Orangeone

Missing that /sarc ???? Scoop hearts the Cowboys 🙂

        • NYGino

No /sarc. What’s Scoop going to do? Cut me off in the middle of a sent———————————————zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*****************#######

          • Orangeone

I’ve been tweeting with him, been a fun game!

      • c4pfan

        LOL .

      • ryanomaniac

        Watch it now NYGino!!

      • Conservative_Hippie

    • Eagles have “Dog Killer” for a QB…it’s karma. Just sayin’ 😛

      • Conservative_Hippie

      • NCHokie02

I don’t understand why people treat Michael Vick as they do. He went to prison for his crime. He went bankrupt in the process. And in the end they were dogs, not people. When has he paid for his crime? When do people forgive?

        • PhillyCon

THANK YOU NC!!! Does anyone talk about Rothleberger? Getting away with rape?

          • NCHokie02

I agree. NFL players that commit crimes against other people get free passes. It’s ok. Dogs….now thats a different story. How dare someone hurt an animal!!! The PETA in everyone jumps out.

I like Vick. Liked him at school and glad he made his way back into the NFL. I hope he is successful, as long as it’s not against my Skins.

          • That one person allegedly gets away with a crime doesn’t excuse another. Yes, he did his time. Do you think WE would get back a multimillion dollar job if WE had been convicted of this? What if he had been a CEO of a company? But because he can throw a football, we reward him. We’re still willing to make him a hero for kids growing up. Did you ever read what happened to those dogs? No one who’s an animal lover can excuse what he did. Cruel people that abuse animals don’t change and people who abuse animals are also likely to abuse helpless people: children or the elderly.

            • PhillyCon

Vick didn’t get away with his crime, and paid dearly for it. He was bankrupt, and barely pays his bills to this day.

As far as getting his job back, its called the market. You know something us conservatives are supposed to support? The market obviously still values Vick’s footballs skills, if he wasn’t any good no one would hire him, get it?

Again, for what he did to those dogs, he paid a price for it. It’s called our penal and justice system. Another thing, conservatives are supposed to support. He paid his price to society. Something, that many others in the NFL who have done much worse have not (as I stated in my original post).

You are assuming that Vick will abuse children and the elderly b/c of what he did. This is something liberals do. When and if he does it again, I am sure our justice system, and/or the mobs will see to it.

BTW, I don’t see anyone making Vick into hero. Your argument is full of strawmen.

              • Conservative_Hippie

      • PhillyCon

Spare me. What about Ray Lewis and “Rapelisberger.”

    • PhillyCon

Hear hear CH! Hopefully, this will be the end for Andy Reid. What a bust its been almost like the Republican Party.

      • Conservative_Hippie

The “Reid Era” is over. Is it just me or ever since Jimmy Johnson passed away the Eagles have been on a nose dive to the basement? Should Reid’s successful years be attributed to Reid…or maybe Johnson should have been credited for most of the successes? Something to think about I guess.

        • PhillyCon

How funny, I even mentioned Jimmie Johnson’s passing to DH when the Eagles started to hit the skids. I bet if you go through the stats, your theory might be right. Their decline has been a 2-3 year cycle … so, this isn’t a surprise to those of us who follow these things closely.

The anti-McNabb crowd always pointed to the Eagles great defense for their winning.

Also, notice how many defenses around the league use the “A-gap” now. He was a strategic genius.

  • Orangeone

Okay, not a football question. Anyone else like this sign?

    • marketcomp

      LOL:D!Love it!

  • marketcomp

    It’s over Dallas! Sorry!

  • Man it sucks my Cowboys lost, but as a football fan, watching two rookie quarterbacks RGIII vs Russell Wilson battle it out in the wild card game is gonna be fun to watch. I wouldn’t like my Cowboys chances in the playoffs with all the defense injuries and now looks like with wide receivers also but hey anything could happen and still would have liked to see it but nope not this year and looks like we are at the new age of football with these rookie QBs, it’s just gonna get tougher.

  • c4pfan

Sorry about your team scoop (and others).

    • NCHokie02

I’m not. I enjoyed the game. Especially Alfred Morris.

  • NYGino

John McKay, 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, first year expansion team with a
0-14 record was asked what he thought of his teams execution and he said “I’m in favor of it”

  • My Skins won…..HTTR!!!!

  • objective123

Romo is just God awful. His name should be Dumbo. He is as dumb as a door knob. A 9 year QB veteran looses to a lame rookie QB who had no turnovers compared to dumbo’s 3. Cowboys fans are just tired of this sh***

    • TxGold

He’s not ‘dumb’, he’s just not worth a dayum under pressure! Jerry Jones on the other hand?

  • ryanomaniac

Ok Romo, that’s it. I’ve took soooo much heat for taking up for you but no more. Done. It cant be possible that a guy could play like this every time do or die situations come around. Dallas, time to drop him.

I do feel bad for the guy a little. The media here in Dallas is gonna chew him up and it wont be pretty.

  • ryanomaniac

Before Garrett is fired, which he better be, they need to fire EVERY trainer in the club. I have never seen a team with so many injuries in my life. Lost the whole receiving core in one stinkin night. I think Jerry has turned this team into the Chicago Cubs.

  • 911Infidel

The Redskins ought to give a game ball to Tony “No Mo”. That pick with 3 min to go was poorly timed. Great catch by Rob Jackson however. Tony just can’t keep his poise in the big games like RGIII can. And how about that Alfred Morris? Huh? The kid sets a new single season record for his team and is the humblest guy (next to RGIII that is) on the planet. Gee, how refreshing.

I see RGIII made it to Drudge again. Yeah there’s a new Superhero in DC. And it ain’t Barackus O’Dipstick.

I just got one more thing to say: HOW ‘BOUT THEM REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry RS…..The Romo apparently is now 1-7 when it comes to “MUST” clutch wins to advance. That interception was what…..a 10 yard Hail Mary?? So disappointing. And yet, he may just still be in Dallas next year because of the all mighty $$$$. Letting him go would be costly for the wallet…..but then again, not the team.

  • gilleysuited

Not anti Cowboys but, anti backstabbing, hire any thug on the street Jones!!!!!!!!!!

  • NCHokie02

    RS how could you??….Cowboys???

At least my Skins won. Hail to the Redskins!

  • rick0857

I wonder if ESPN is still worried about whether or not RG III is a Republican? Is he still what ESPN called him, a “Cornball Brother?” What about his white girlfriend does she still matter to ESPN? Enquiring minds want to know!!!!!!

  • mikeinidaho

As a diehard Cowboys fan since the 60’s, let me just say that “I told you so”.
Romo is a whiny-butt loser and chokes regularly, Garret couldn’t engineer smart plays or manage the clock if his life depended on it, Rob Ryan is a lousy defensive co-ordinator, the conditioning manager and staff are useless and Jerry Jones, although a successful businessman, is NO general manager or director of player personnel. The cowgirls will suffer until the top tier of management is replaced.
Other than that, the Cowboys seem to have bright future!
And congratulations to RG III and the Foreskins! Good game and good season!
(Always hated that team, almost as much as the Philadelphia Pigeons!)

  • Larchmonter

Jerry, Garrett and whoever was calling the passing plays last night should all resign or be fired.

Romo in the clutch is a nightmare. He needs special coaching when the crunch comes. What does he get? Stupid fade routes which are easy for DB’s and LB’s to jump and intercept. Dumping off to third choice receivers is a minefield for him.

He had just made two sensational passes for TD and 2Pointer, and then these idiot coaches set him up for failure.

If you don’t give him plays he excels at, or practice him so the flares and fades go to the sidelines, he will underthrow.

It’s COACHING, AND NOT JUST THE QB. DON’T BLAME TONY. His weaknesses have been made by very bad coaching and game planning and play calling.

  • UnCL3

gawd the Cowboys are such losers

  • MiketheMarine

I’m a cowboy’s fan too and am not surprised by the outcome. Our ‘Boys, Scoop, have multiple personality disorder. When they are football players, they are one of the best teams in the league but half of the time they think they are ping pong players. That’s what happens in big games. They forget which personality is required.

Did I mention that the Skins suck. And RGIII? I hate that guy. He is FAR to Good to play in the NFC east. I think they should trade him to an AFC team, like maybe, Batlimore.
