Dershowitz: Trump committed a ‘political sin’ and there should be consequences…

Alan Dershowitz was on Cavuto today discussing the Comey hearing, as is everyone else today. As he’s been pointing out for some time, there was no obstruction of justice because the President has the power to fire Comey as well as order or stop investigations. And Comey admitted as much today in the hearing, Dershowitz notes.

But Dershowitz said that while it wasn’t illegal for Trump to do what he did, it was wrong for him to say these things to Comey and argued that it amounted to a political sin that should have consequences.

As is visible to most who watched the hearing today or read the testimony, Trump has crossed boundaries that he shouldn’t have and I’m not going to blame it on him being stupid. If you get to that level and don’t understand ‘conflict of interest’ after telling the country how smart you and how you have the best words, then you can’t complain about the consequences when they happen.

But as some have pointed out today on Twitter when Trump oversteps, the media goes even further making them look way worse than Trump. They’ve clearly pushed this cloud over his administration and kept it there and hope they can at least get a political consequence out of it if nothing else.

I think today some of that cloud evaporated and if Trump can be disciplined for a change and focus on his agenda (YUGE if, I know), then he might be able to get something big done for a change and turn this year into a success after all.
