Just like Reagan's battle with the Demunists in the 80's! They want tax increases before ANY talk (let alone action) on reforms in spending. When it comes down to it, they refuse to consider spending cuts once they have the tax increases. Any Repubs that go along with this BS again are fools and do not represent their constituents.
I believe that the majority of these politicians grew up on weed, just like Obama. Do some research and find out the long term effects on your brain. This is why the communist would prefer legalizing pot will they control the size of your soda. A person on pot is a person who's brain is shot.
I've written to my senator Durbin on subjects such as defunding Planned Parenthood and Kagan for SCOTUS. He truly is a Dick. I'm in the process of moving to Iowa. I just hope that's far enough.
This reminds me of that Charlie Brown bit wherein he tries to kick the football and Lucy ALWAYS pulls it away. How many deals have these lying democrats promised to include entitlement reform in exchange for a tax increase only to not come through with their side of the deal?

People wonder why secession talk is so strong. Half the country believes in liberty, freedom, living within your means and the other half believes it has the right to other people's money. I really do believe we have crossed the Rubicon as a United country.
I have a personal story for a time such as this. I am of small stature so my mother told me from the time I was very young that I had to be "sassy" or people would walk all over me. I took her literally (she had no idea....). So I met some bullies after school twice my size throughout elementary and Jr. high and they would always back down because I was so feisty. A few might have feared me but I am guessing most just admired my courage and determination to expect respect. The Republicans need to stand their ground.
Republicans are offering concessions left and right, from tax increases to a new dream act. But what have Democrats offered to Republicans? Doesn't "compromise" mean that both sides offer concessions?
By revealing their cards up front, Republicans have convinced Democrats that they don't need to offer concessions to get what they want. The public now expects Republicans to cave on tax increases even if they get nothing in return. So if no compromise is reached, the public will blame Republicans even if they are the only ones willing to make concessions.
Why are some of our politicians like Boehner, Chambliss, McCain, and Graham so stupid? They are so quick to stab us in the back, but for what? Do they think Democrats and the media will love them if they betray the conservative base and throw away their bargaining chips?
Caught a quick TV News clip today where the reporter was saying that all the proposals on the table that address killing loopholes don't mathematically bring in enough to hit the revenue targets, so therefore increases need to be considered too...
I immediately almost vomited in my mouth. These Republicans have already caved to attempting to meet O's tax revenue targets??? what??? So, let me get this straight, we have both parties who think that the problem with government is that they just need more money to cover their costs. Not one person that has any power or influence thinks that we spend too much? NOOOOOO, it's a revenue problem. We are doomed.
Since the crash has been the making for decades, it was only a matter of musical chairs; Who would be in elected office when happened and how they would protect themselves in the end. The money, our money, is being used to finance anything but what it is supposed to financing. They continue to steal our hard earned money while they are enriching themselves. They will be leaving us in the dust and debt of unfriendly countries who demand their money back.
I say step on the gas, and lets have the crash now.
They would not let the housing market bottom out, and we are stuck with a housing bust for 20-30 years and it will cost 20 times as much to fix IF EV-VER!

My kid just moved to Tennesee from TEXAS because we are being over-run from Mexico, I kid you not.
Here is the city some hispanic kids (know nothing of them except they were mean ones, maybe drugsters?) SHOT a man for his "cell phone" (really?) in a upper neighborhood (huh, why?) and then 10 cop cars and 3 helicopters chased him down (all kinds of big bad guns drawn, made me think these kids were REALLY bad CARTEL dudes?).
Took the cops over an hour to calm down and buckle up the heavy weapons after trapping the kiddoes on my dead end street.
WAS NOT FUNNY, but the people in my new "simple" older neighborhood had a long talk and laughs with cops for HOURS? (and of course local TV had many spots)
AND I though Houston was bad, kids only had chains and swithblades when I was a kid growing up.
It is like "LORD of the FLYS" out there NOW, and O-BLAME-O has set off a chain reaction we will not be able to stop now.
FIghting this slowly and giving in will drive us all crazy, I say let them drive it off the cliff and into the CANYON.
THEN, maybe we can put something back together. We can not afford another 600k slaughter of Americans like we did 150 years ago.

I have come to believe that the entire partisan quarreling is nothing but a distraction, a side show for for our benefit while the political elites are setting themselves up to be insulated from the fallout of what they have done to the country. It is the only logical explanation for the ineptitude of the Republicans an the boldness of the Democrats. We continue to root on our side and boo when they screw up. Senate Republicans being a minority against Harry Reid does not mean they can't speak out.
It's a perfect plan. It keeps us entertained and from doing what we need to do.

Republicans should not give up ANYTHING. Remember, the Democrats are going to blame the Republicans for whatever happens. If there ARE cuts to Medicare or Medicaid, it will NOT be seen as a step towards fiscal stability for the sake of the nation, it WILL be portrayed by the Democrats as those "evil" Republicans cutting benefits to sick black children of single mothers that walk with a limp. Those "heartless" S.O.B.'s, just look at what they did. Forget it. We'll get blamed, so lets all go over the cliff so that EVERYBODY shares in the pain. To quote our "fearless" leader in the White House, that's just fair. Right?

Dick Durbin, better known locally as 'Durb the Turd' in parts of IL where I'm from originally. This guy is as big a political windbag that you can get. I wouldn't give him the time of day, much less tax concessions.
Durbin is another tentacle of the Evil Octopus which we call our govt and another who, if I were to say what I really think about him, would compromise my Christian walk. Therefore, I will zip my lip.

I don't see how Republicans have any leverage to deal in this situation. Obama can wait till the last minute for the Republicans to go with his plan or be blamed for raising taxes on everyone.
It is funny because in 2010 we had Obama by the balls. He is re elected, the house and senate are the same, and now he can blame the right? Screw Obama! Tell the right story and educate the ignorant!
If raising taxes on anyone won't make the situation better, and I agree with that, then I'm thinking let Obama have it, let him have the blame.
I don't think the fiscal cliff is fake. But I do agree the message is fake. How can raising taxes on anyone make the situation better AND not make IMMEDIATE spending cuts? This is complete bullshit! Nobody wins. I don't fault people for taking a pension of 65% or whatever they agreed to on the final salary. What I don't get is for example, when the City of Stockton approached the union heads to make a concession to lower the pension rates, what happened? Oh that's right 25% of police officers were laid off, 35% of firefighters were laid off AND 43% of public sector employees were let and they still filed for BK! The unions said no so the city let people go and many people lost their pensions. The Union goons in this country better have protection because when the smoke clears they are gonna be wanted men and women!

Let's bring in a maximum wage too, and make it the same as the minimum wage. Then lets all clank our chains on cue.
Minimum wage should be $50/hour. Big Business can afford that and we can buy the $15.00 double cheeseburgers with our food stamps.

What the hell is wrong with someone ANYONE on the right standing up and saying the following: Until the Democrats are willing to make immediate 10% cuts across the board to entitlements, pensions, etc., and make those cuts NOW there is no deal! And NOT reducing the tax rates is not a part of the deal. This will make the economy much worse. Until these items are put into place then Mr. President you call tell the American people the bad news!
Because the Right (like the Left) is full of cowards. Both sides of the aisle is corrupt.
It's a good reason for Republicans not to cave, but I'm not holding my breathe. Republicans are far to weak to stand the heat from leftist MSM. Heaven forbid if they are labeled obstructionists, the filibuster party in the Senate or cow towing to the rich.
Far to many of them will be more concern about the next election than supporting the pro-growth economic plans they touted during the campaign season. And it will only get worse for conservatives on a host of issues since some Republicans are already showing their acquiescent game-plan to Obama and Democrats in Congress.

What people need to realize is that the term "fiscal cliff" is just political buzz word designed to create an emotional response from the pubic which is just preparation for what they are about to do. Essentially, it is propaganda.
We passed up the point of no return a long time ago. No objective, legitimate, or relevant economist actually claims that we can pay off the debt, or severely reduce spending without going into a major depression, and destroying the currency.
It doesn't really matter what they do in the next couple of months concerning taxes and spending (in the big picture) because austerity was the plan, and was forseeable a long, long, time ago.
Austerity was innevitable not because of spending and debt levels, but because this was the plan all along by the establishment. The real solutions are actually quite well known, but never an option. Why? The reason is that real solutions would destoy the plan of the globalists to shut down our country, and steal our wealth through fraudulent money creation and debt.
What we are now watching is our treasonist politicians carrying out a plan that they agree on behind closed doors, but put up a show for us on TV to keep us from recognizing the real solutions, their argumentation as being a fraud, and that their interest is in keeping us divided and stuck in a futile partisan mindset. The establishment is not partisan, so why are we buying into it?
If you want real solutions, then advocate for a sovereign currency regulated by congress, and market interest rates. Let the big banks fail, and take the hit. Make government go through the people to get money, rather than having a central bank print it up. Get us out of all international treaties that control our resources and industries, and send our industries overseas. Nobody talks about NAFTA and GATT anymore.
What we are seeing on TV, and in the congress is just national propaganda theatre.
Trouble is they won't let the banks fail. Not a chance. That is why you are seeing more and more news stories about 401k confiscation.
This is only a resurgence in considering going after 401ks, though. During the 'Age of Clinton,' politicos were heavily throwing around the taxation of 401ks and even company-sponsored healthcare as 'imputed income.' Any way they can increase the draw of money, they will. I'm honestly surprised it didn't happen under Clinton.
Connect the dots. Every time they start bandying things about, especially this administration, things tend to happen.

I am now reading about three articles per day from business and investment sites on the subject.
The country wasn't nearly as leftward bent or brazen under Clinton. It is now since Americans always tend to think more is better.
I knew that they were taking our troops death benefits from families, but hadn't really heard about 401ks being confiscated. Alex Jones and others have been warning about it for years, but I wasn't sure how they could do it until Greece started doing it. I thought that things would have to get much worse before it actually happen here.
The interesting thing to me is that the stock market is about 80% inflated, so when they finally let it go, 401Ks will vanish anyway.
I tried pulling out my 401k a year or so ago, but I can't until I don't work there anymore. I never did like tax differed investments.
Another credit rating downgrade is inevitable. The question is what will be the effect on the economy if further downgrades happen.
S&P's statement was blunt in its assessment.
"We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and will remain a contentious and fitful process," the ratings firm said.
The downgrade will have a ripple effect around the world.
Asian central banks are the largest foreign holders of U.S. Treasury securities. China is the U.S.' largest foreign creditor, holding $1.16 trillion in Treasury securities, followed by Japan with $912.4 billion.
Reacting to the downgrade, China's official news agency, Xinhua, criticized the U.S. for its "short-sighted political wrangling," and called for a new global reserve currency to replace the dollar. China "has every right now to demand the United States to address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China's dollar assets," Xinhua said.
Earlier this week, China's central bank governor had urged the U.S. to "take responsible policy measures to handle its debt."
