Dishonest Dick Durbin smears NRA at hearing, uses dishonest tactics with panelists

Smear-merchant Sen. Dick Durbin smeared the membership base of the NRA, including Wayne LaPierre who was present, in today’s gun violence hearing. After an unfair tussle over background checks with LaPierre, Durbin then asked LaPierre if he agreed to the sentiment of other NRA members that they needed ‘assault weapons’ to protect themselves from the government and the police. LaPierre responded that indeed the 2nd amendment was added to the Constitution by men who had lived under the tyrannical rule of King George and wanted to ensure that free people never lived under tyranny again.

Durbin then looked directly at the very liberal Baltimore County Police Chief and said:

“Well Chief Johnson, you’ve heard it. The belief of the NRA is the 2nd amendment has to American citizens the fire power to fight back against you…”

OUTRAGEOUS. That’s not at all what the NRA believes, nor did LaPierre ever insinuate that. It’s about fighting tyranny, a tyrannical government. And of course the liberal police chief played along and responded with disdain at the idea. Total smear by Durbin.

Shortly after that Durbin began to question another panelist about 100-round magazines. The panelist clearly pointed out that those are novelty items, not something used by the American public at large or even law enforcement. The panelist wanted to focus on the Heller Case from the DC gun ban and defend only the normal capacity magazines that police officers use, but Durbin insisted on twisting his words, accusing him of advocating for 100-round magazines, simply so he could demagogue the issue.

little dickie durban is afraid of “We the People”. but he really wanted to mention on tonights Mark Levin program. kick his butt Mark, leave a mark Mark

  • Rshill7

    Dear Durbin:

    Oink! Know what I mean?

    P.S. Snort!

  • chatterbox365

Do you guys think the NRA is doing an effective job combating liberal tools like Durbin? Maybe I a missing something, but I just don’t see the NRA swinging hard.

Turbin Durbin is another low-life treasonous liberal POS.

    • Rshill7

    • LibLoather

Try looking at the NRA in the same vein as Sarah Palin. Both are very popular and very law-abiding, and there’s not a damn thing the Left can do to either one! And we know what the Left does to perceived “threats”–smear and vilification.
Frankly, its amusing to see the Left so annoyed!!

      • Conservative_Hippie

        Well said!

    • sjmom

Actually, he did a good job and even mentioned all of the police families who are NRA members. That had to hurt……….the police isn’t in his back pocket.

      • burbanite223

Yes and the Police Chiefs are put in place by the govt and the sheriffs are elected by the people.

        Will not comply.

    • aposematic

I think the NRA tries to stay in intelligent debate and leave the hissy fits to Pols like Durbin.

      • Pat

    • Don

When you have certified loons incapable of telling the truth like Durbin and Schumer its hard for the NRA to lower their standards to this level to correct what any sane person knows are complete lies. There is nobody that would believe one word either of these fools say. NOBODY!

      • unclesamnephew

when you said nobody, you must mean a person with a brain free of the libral virus

      • PicklePlants

They are appealing to the low info voter. It’s all about the sound bite.

  • ryanomaniac

    #[email protected]! yourself Durbin. $%&[email protected]# you ^&**% and @#!$. Go @#[email protected] &$%#

Ditto. I agree with every word!

        • lol. Thanks you guys for making me laugh.

          • badbadlibs

I was going to say the same thing. With today’s news, it’s a miracle!

      Don’t be so coy! LOL!

    • Excellently said! YAY!

    • las1

Damn! My Google Translate not working again. Second time this week.

      • NYGino

I’d translate for you las1 but I’m afraid I’d get my mouth washed out with Ivory soap.

        • Dawg

          Better than Life Buoy…yuuuk!

        • las1

Can’t get Ivory up here in Canada… the leftists banned ivory importation under the previous government. Have you tried Baby’s Own.

      • Orangeone

Might suggest changing from ABinC’s French translation setting to the Trek setting 🙂

        • las1

Hey! There you are… I haven’t seen you in a while. Where the heck you been?

          • Conservative_Hippie

Hey las1, just been hanging 10 on my web surfboard:)

  • LibLoather

Typical Illinois politician. Will a good citizen of Illinois explain how you keep voting for these tramplers of your Constitutional rights? The rest of us are mystified…

    • I’m not a citizen of Illinois, but I can explain it. Chicago controls the entire state. In the 2010 governor’s race, the Republican, Bill Brady, won every single county except for 1. That one county was Cook Co., home of Chicago. Pat Quinn got enough turnout in that one city to overcome the rest of the state and he won the election. The rest of the state is pretty much powerless.

      • LibLoather

Daniel, thanks for the clarification. We know the term “turnout” is a euphemism for dead people’s votes, LOL!

      • Bill Slankard

actually Daniel, you’re wrong. Quinn won 3 counties. lol But your point is still valid. We in IL are helpless from the chicago liberal scum

    • mickeyco

I live in N. IL. We haven’t had an effective state Republican party in forever. Added to that, I live in a collar county of Chicago. 20 years ago, there were virtually no Dems in my county. Now it’s about 50-50, with all the Chicagoans moving here. And last, the IL Repubs are just as corrupt, on the whole, as the IL Dems. It’s a no win. How about sending Cruz our way?

      • LibLoather

Hey, how about YOU coming down our way! We’re not sharing Cruz (lol)!
Many IL transplants here already–you’d fit right in…

        • Orangeone

          Conservative IL folks I hope!

        • unclesamnephew

do you really want a gringo to cross the red river? they are likely to be infected. well at least keep them from voting for 7 years or so

        • Dawg

How long do you really think a former resident of Illinois would last in Texas? A CHICAGO resident? The first time they start bragging about the nasty hot dogs, cassarole of a pizza and mentioning the Bears as superior….there will be a beating. Lol

      • sjmom

Sounds like my home state of NJ

        • NYGino

sjmom, Giants or Eagles? Island Beach or Wildwood? Cheesesteaks or Hot Dogs?

    • Nukeman60

I’m a citizen of Illinois. We didn’t vote him in. The State of Chicago voted him in.

      • Jay

As a former Chicagoland and Ill resident, I prefer to call it “Sodom on the Lake.”

        • Nukeman60

I like both those terms – “Sodom on the Lake” and “Former Chicagoland and Ill Resident”. I don’t live anywhere near Cook County, but I’m working on the latter term (former Ill resident).

    • leftie

I don’t know about Durbin, but 2 counties in IL elected our dear governor. Cook and whatever county East St. Louis is in. Please don’t blame the whole state. I’m an IL resident and just as fedup as the rest of you!

  • aposematic

If Durbin isn’t a Government tyrant, he’s got nothing to worry about from law abiding citizens with guns.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Well said…

    • Orangeone

I’d like to see Durbin’s background check, right after Menendez’s!

  • rsfan1

He’s my senator, be jealous….. NOT.

  • Having lived in Baltimore for 3 months in 1998-99, the fact that Durbin inferred that city’s Chief of Police is tyrannical (irrespective of taking LaPierre out of all context) doesn’t surprise me.

    • NYGino

Gary, you have a unique sense of humor. Haven’t quite figured it out yet.

  • Rshill7

Here is a letter from my friend who was responding to a form letter from Senator Debbie Stabenow, which was in response to the first letter he sent to her. We live in Alpena County, Michigan:

    Dear Ma’am,

It is clear to me that something was lost in my message to you. I appreciate your loyalty to the president and your party, but you should remember how you came to office. You work for Joe Public. And in case you haven’t noticed the issue at hand is not a party line vote. This is a bipartisan fundamental right clearly laid out in our Bill of Rights. This amendment was written for the individual to be able to defend himself from the wolf at the door, be it man or tyrannical government as well as put food on the table.

I ask you again, please put your party aside and follow the will of the people. Uphold your oath. We the people do not need our government dictating our rights to us. More of us are waking up to the fact that just under 600 people supposedly represent the millions of us that elected or appointed them. Moves like this by our government cause those of us that sit on the sidelines to pick a side and push back. Society is the reason for the tragedies, not the tools used. It is apparent you have forgotten why you are in office. I pray you vote against this rubbish, or you may find yourself out of a job.

The world is getting tougher out here Senator. So far the only change I have seen from my elected officials is the loss of a home, near loss of a job, higher taxes, increased cost of living and decrease in wage. I work full time, abide by the laws of this land and jump through hoops to keep my health benefits because of Obama care. I received my first pittance of a raise in five years and watched my government take it when the income tax jumped 2%. I am one of many who are tired of the loss of privacy, lack of concern and lack of respect we receive from those enjoying the benefits of the office we elected them to. Ma’am once again I ask you to please fight for us, lead us and help us. Show us why we should support you, by supporting us.

    Sincerely, My Friend

My friend is now much more interested in politics. 🙂

    • toongoon

I’ll bet Stabenow and staff had a belly laugh over that one.

I’m glad your friends interest has been piqued. Many people are waking up, even Ben Jealous.

      • Rshill7

He’s got a lot of fish, geese, ducks, and deer in his freezer. He’s my best fishing buddy. He also knows that the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or recreation.

        • ducks?!

          • toongoon

            • NYGino

No No No ABC, he meant pucks. He’s a big hockey fan (?) and he keeps them in the freezer, more response when they are cold.

              • Orangeone

I can attest to the pucks because I shipped them from MN while the NHL was on strike

That’s right… you heard the man! Ducks! The 2nd takes a back seat to no one, not man, not fish, not fowl.

            🙂 double 🙂

            Here.. console yourself with this:
Rednecks can build anything… even duck blinds.

            and this:

            • badbadlibs

I LOVE those guys and that show! 🙂

            • unclesamnephew

well 1st of all you didn’t build that someone else had to. 2nd did you say duckie has gone blind? any one out there with a braile computer for duckie?

          • las1

            P.S…. did I say duckie : )

    • Orangeone

Well done, thank you for sharing!

    • Sober_Thinking

Great letter. It’s concise and eloquent.

Sadly, because it is… it’s likely in the trash can.

      • tshtsh

So, true. When I was in RI, I used to remind Sen. Reed that he took an oath as an military officer as well as an elected official. He still did not vote to uphold the Constitution.

        • Sober_Thinking

I can say the same for many of my “representatives”. They are politicians… worse than lawyers.

    • sjmom

Such a waste of a good letter.

    • A BILLION LIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Conservative_Hippie

      Thanks for sharing!

  • Durbin’s such an a$$ just like all the rest of the Constitution trashing (insert your own adjectives here).

Those who are keeping and bearing arms are within the Law- those in the government who are trying to find every way to go under, around and through to ban anything that has to do with guns are breaking the Law.

    What now people?

    • sjmom

I think the more they open their mouths and push this the better we’ll be.

      • aposematic

Agree, their anti-gun choir is loud but way off key…

  • CO2isGood

This is a good thing…the more voters they p.o. the better!

  • 12grace

We must support the NRA and Wayne LaPierre. Our freedom will be over if they manage to take our guns.

Join the NRA if you haven’t already done so.

durbin is his usual lying criminal self.

  • I support Mr. Durbins’s efforts

    • stage9

      To be a douche?

    • Way to introduce yourself. At least you’re honest about it.

Paul, this is your first and only post on this site. Care to expound?

    • 57thunderbird

      Ha!What a moroon.

What the heck is that? If we needed proof of dumbness, we have it. Not that you are dumb mind ya’. But your keyboard is an idiot, even after the “edit” 🙂

      • NYGino

        shhh…public school education.

        • Orangeone

You beat me to it, again 🙂 Must be the time difference 😀

            Global warming Orangeone.

            • Orangeone

Right, colder here than in NY, that darn climate change!

              • NYGino

Hate to say this (not really) but I’m living in Florida. Can’t say our weather is as cold as yours but we did dip down into the high 60’s last night, that says something, doesn’t it, huh? We’re still friends right, Orangeone? Still friends?

                • Orangeone

Always friends! Are you snowbirding or permanent habitat? Although easy to move across border to WI I’m thinking about snowbirding in TX

                • NYGino

Been here permanently 25 years, Brooklyn originally then from 8 on grew up in North Jersey; could see the top of the Empire State Building from my bedroom in the winter when the trees had no leaves on them.

                • Orangeone

Thank goodness you are out of the NY area with the he!! going on. I hear Cuomo’s ratings have tanked after his middle of the night gun grab. Hee Hee

                • NYGino

Yeah, did they ever. Rumor has it he is going to personally overrule Bloomingidiot’s ban on 32oz. sodas to try and build up his approval ratings. He might even allow a tiny amount of trans fats back into the diet. He’s desperate.

    • Nukeman60

Well, at least you’re smart enough to find the edit button.

I missed what you really wanted to say, but I can only imagine what it was (did it have anything to do with Durbinsss’sss efforts to violate the Constitution?).

      Now, on to potty training.

      • Nukefriend- have I mentioned that I love you? You always manage to make me laugh so hard when I really need it! 🙂

  • toongoon

So little dickie Turban called a county police chief a tyrant but didn’t acknowledge that the tyranny the second amendment protects us from was he and his cohorts.

Don’t forget, Durbin compared our servicemen to Nazi’s, soviets, and Pol Pot.

Another one of Santa Obama’s little elves working hard to destroy America from the inside.

    • HI TOON!!!!!!

      • toongoon

        Hey Duck!! 😀

    • sjmom

Christmas is over and the elves have been laid off so its time for Dickie to take a well earned very long vacation whenever he comes up next for election.

      • Nukeman60

Not going to happen. The votes have already been counted in Chicago and are sitting in a car trunk, just waiting to be turned in.

  • Sober_Thinking

Little dick Durbin… he’s the scum that scum wipes off of their shoes. What a prepuce.

  • sjmom

What Wayne LaPierre didn’t say the Professor did. How about a debate between Mr. Liberal Police Chief and the Sheriff of Milwaukee county? Now, that would be a hoot.

    • Orangeone

I would pay to watch that!

  • aposematic

We the People really need to ask why the D Party fears so passionately the Second Amendment right to bear arms… Could it be that Government tyranny thing? Durbin admits that’s his reason today in the hearings, what’s the other D’s reason?

    • and what’s the “R”s reason for not having enough of the party speak out against it?

      • jlbs

Because they’re scared to death they won’t be liked.

This reminds me of a situation I was in once when a relative expected me to give him a deal even though it meant my own kids would be cheated out of the money. I agonized over what to do and my husband said, “You don’t have to be liked, but you have to be respected”. I turned down the relative and, though things were a little tense between us at first, now it’s as if nothing ever happened.

The Repubs want to be liked when they should be acting to gain respect.

        • toongoon

      • aposematic

R’s are afraid of their own shadows… And maybe Ducks too 🙂

      • Orangeone

Because they are trying to implement their own tyranny

  • Sandra123456

Dick Durbin has to the slimiest of all Senators. He just creeps me out. What is his goal in life? Lying , being sneaky, being snarky, what? He certainly doesn’t give a damn about the truth.

He is disgusting. Charles Shumer is almost as bad.

    • sjmom

  • stage9

“Mr LaPierre, that’s the point! The criminals won’t go to purchase the guns because there’ll be a background check. We’ll stop them from the original purchase. You miss that point completely.”

So this moron Durban actually thinks that a CRIMINAL, WHOSE AIM IS TO COMMIT A CRIMINAL ACT WITH A WEAPON is first going to walk into a gun store and purchase a gun from a licensed gun owner?

And as far as the alarmist view that

“Mr LaPierre my consituency tells me that it’s not just abouthunting; it’s not just about sports; it’s not just about shooting targets; it’s not just about defending ourselves from criminals…we need the firepower and the ability to protect ourselves from our government…from the police, if they knock on our door, and we need to fight back.”

WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! Hold on just one second! Is this fool going to sit there with his arrogant smart mouth and tell me that while he and his mindless liberal friends are trying to take away MY FUNDAMENTAL CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, that it’s ABSURD for me to then BELIEVE THAT IT’S POSSIBLE THAT HE WILL ACTUALLY DO IT???

The very FACT that you’re trying to seize my GUN is PROOF that I need MY GUN to defend myself against YOUR TYRANNICAL INTENTIONS! FOOL!

YOU ARE LIVING PROOF THAT what the Founders enshrined into the Constitution is still JUST AS VALID TODAY AS IT WAS THEN!

    • Orangeone

YOU ARE LIVING PROOF THAT what the Founders enshrined into the Constitution is still JUST AS VALID TODAY AS IT WAS THEN! And maybe more so with the means of communication, spying, data collection and transportation we have today.

    • Nukeman60

‘So this moron Durban actually thinks that a CRIMINAL, WHOSE AIM IS TO COMMIT A CRIMINAL ACT WITH A WEAPON is first going to walk into a gun store and purchase a gun from a licensed gun owner?’ – Stage9

Cruz brought up the fact that only 1.9% of criminal acts with a gun were purchased from a gun show and it is well-known that established gun dealers already perform background checks. So where exactly does Durbin think these guns are coming from?

I can see the transaction now on the Mexican border: “Si, Senor, thees gun is only 2500 Pesos. But I weell have to do a background check first, por favor.”

      • stage9

Yeah, cuz all those “gun enthusiasts” in Chicago murdering each other in cold blood in the inner city are really walking into a gun store, purchasing a gun and going and getting a gun permit so they can use it legally.

This man is so stupid it’s a wonder he can dress himself.

        • Nukeman60

I heard that police chief today say that 80% of all Chicago gun crime guns are coming from one store. If that’s true, then why aren’t they busting it. I suppose he actually believes that store is run by law-abiding citizens and not the criminal element. He never watched The Sopranos, did he.

  • Alborn

There is enough knowledge and materials in this country that if we find ourselves in a uprising against our own government we would be able to make a number of these items to fight against the forces that be whether they were legal or not. Liars like Durbin help to show people how dishonest the left is and help our cause. It is the people that elect scum like Durbin that is the real problem.

  • tjconway

This Dick is my senator. I can’t wait to move out of this God foresaken state

    • stage9

You need to write him and excoriate him (“with all due respect”) that he’s a friggin idiot.

      • tsturbo

Dickh**d Durbin is due the same amount of respect he show to those who disagree with him-
        which is none!

      • Nukeman60

Doesn’t do any good. He hires people (that I pay for) to receive the letters and email every day and promptly process them into the circular file.

    • unclesamnephew

you will need to be vaccinated first. we cannot aford to spread libtardism any further

  • Rocco11

Dickless Durbin is a disgrace to the human race.

  • stage9

I’d like for this SENATOR to sit there with his mealy mouth and look into that camera and tell the American people that his intention is to usurp the US Constitution because he doesn’t LIKE what it says.

    I dare HIM!

I dare him to look into the camera and tell the American people WHICH LAWS are applicable to us today and which aren’t, and to explain to us UPON WHAT AUTHORITY HE IS OPERATING UNDER THAT GIVES HIM THE RIGHT TO BREAK THE LAW AND IGNORE THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!

    • sjmom

Have you forgotten; the libs are above the law? mmmmm.

  • Something tells me that Levin is going to lay into Little Dick Durbin this evening.

After dinner, we are going hunting for tasty big game, in Virtualville:-)

Bwahahahaha! We’ll be shooting everything bigger than a breadbox. I’ve had a little pre-meeting with me bride and we plan on just scaring the bears rather than deceasing them.

Cuz we have family who are bears! Duh!

    • aposematic

      Happy hunting!

Soon, they will be asking us to pay our taxes …. or, otherwise, they will turn their guns on us ….. just so we can keep this nonsense going…

  • Guppymonster

Dick Durbin is a slimey individual representing one of the worst states in the country with one of the most restrictive gun laws and one of the highest murder by firearms rate. He doesn’t represent the people of states like Texas, Alabama or Kentucky and his liberal philosophy doesn’t cut mustard with most americans. He ought to crawl back under the rock he crawled out from, but his kind never do.

“Well Chief Johnson, you’ve heard it. The belief of the NRA is the 2nd amendment has to American citizens the fire power to fight back against you…”

I cannot speak for the NRA, but as far as I’m concerned, if the good Chief comes to take my inalienable right to bear arms as protected by the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, Durbin is correct.

The Chief may also find a few of his offices have found their way here:

  • jgilman1

Oh look, Uncle Fester is now a tool for Dick Turbin and got stupid too.
History is replete with useful idiots like Uncle Fester that believed their government only had the best of intentions.

  • His name fits him…”DICK”

  • Nukeman60

This slimeball tactic of Durbin’s is nothing new for us here in Illinois. He is the same one trying to get the Gitmo boys transferred to Thomson, Il., right into the heartland of America.

Thanks to Durbin and his co-legislators, Illinois has doubled it’s State income tax and corporate tax in 2010, causing businesses and individuals to flee the state like animals fleeing a forest fire, and finally Illinois was awarded a nice downgrade last week for their efforts.

Illinois is also the place the cowardly Democrats from Wisconsin ran to when they attempted to usurp the Wisconsin legislation process.

I certainly hope you don’t think I’m painting a “Come to Illinois” picture here, ’cause this ain’t the place to entertain a vacation, folks. We are moving swiftly to catch up to California as the worst state in the nation.

Hey Dick, can I call you dick? No? Well Dick in your opinion what is the quickest way to shut down mass murderers with guns on site or without guns on site? Thanks for being a Dick

‘…we need the firepower and the ability to protect ourselves from our government – from our government – from the police, if they knock on our doors and we need to fight back. Do you agree with that statement?’ – Durbin

If he had asked me that, I would have simply said, “Well Senator, are you saying our government – our government – our police are tyrannical? Because if you are then, yes I agree with that statement.”

One does not wait till a government becomes tyrannical to protect oneself from the possibility. One does it beforehand as a precaution and a Constitutional right. That right, of course, doesn’t exist in Chicago, so Durbin wouldn’t understand.

If you wait till after your government becomes tyrannical, then you might as well just buy a ticket to Auschwitz.

I believe the intent of The Second Amendment was not to protect those who shoot deer. I believe the intent of The Second Amendment was to protect us against a tyrannical government. Our government. I believe the intent, was for ordinary Americans to have guns equal to those the Government might choose to use on the populace, should that government decide to take away Freedoms, guaranteed to us by The Constitution.

Does the Government of the United States not have in their possession, automatic weapons? Do they not have in their possession, any number of assault weapons, that on full automatic fire, have the capability of eliminating a hundred people in a heartbeat?

That is the real argument here.

Why do the real arguments only appear on sites like this?

Why do they not appear in Washington, the site of our Government?

I’ll make it simple for you. Because there is no one in Washington, who represents us.

    • Nukeman60

      deer: (plural deer)

      1) a government that rules with a cruel and opressive character, unrestrained by law or Constitution.

    • Malkiel_kol_hakavod_la_el

Correct it’s to protect the citizens of the United States from a tyrannical government.. The one like King George.. If one reads the facts the founders wrote into the Declaration – one will find almost all those complaints are things this obama government is doing today….

Sorry Scoop I have to do this….

He has refused his Assent to Laws , the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them. He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only. He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures. He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people. He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within. He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands. He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers. He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries. He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their substance. He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power. He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation: For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us: For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from Punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States: For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world: For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent: For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury: For transporting us beyond seas to be tried for pretended offences: For abolishing the free system of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies: For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our Governments: For suspending our own Legislature, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever. He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us. He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation. He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands. He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions. In every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people..

      • white531

What a great statement, Malkiel. The allusion between King George and Obama is accurate. One was actually King, the other dreams of it. Both are the epitomy of evil.

Dick Durbin from Illinois Explains it all doesn’t it. Just shameful, Utterly Shameful.

  • NYGino

Durbin should have been asked why the Federal Government thought it necessary to purchase 1.5 BILLION hollow point bullets by the Social Security Administration and Homeland Security. And while we’re at it, do we really need an extra 16,000 “IRS” agents to enforce Obamacare?

  • Isn’t this the same twisted Dick that in the same chair couldn’t even get himself to ask Hillary if and when she knew Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi that day?

  • Malkiel_kol_hakavod_la_el

This man Durbin is nut job that should have been placed back in the mental institution he escaped from over 20 years ago…. Not to mention he is a Dick with superiority complex…

His kind are of the likes of the Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others including tyrant obama.. In other works the sickest of the sick and the evilest of the evil….

There is a reason he is called Turban Durbin.

He wouldn’t know the truth if he was struck in the head with it. He is a jackbooted thug.

  • tinlizzieowner

Durbin then looked directly at the very liberal Baltimore County Police Chief and said:
“Well Chief Johnson, you’ve heard it. The belief of the NRA is the 2nd amendment has to American citizens the fire power to fight back against you…”

Actually Durban, The 2nd Amendment was crafted to deal with lying tyrants, like you.

  • tinlizzieowner

Hey, Durban, You ever heard about this battle?

“The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War) was a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation. The event is sometimes cited by firearms ownership advocates as an example of the value of the Second Amendment in combating tyranny”.

Watch a dramatized version of it here. 😉
And of course, Sen. Paul Cantrell was a Democrat. 😉 😉
In the past, Democrats have used intimidation to ensure election results. Take the “Battle for Athens” for example. In 1946, a wealthy Democratic family (the Cantrells) wanted to replace Republican officials in McMinn County, Tennessee, so they backed Franklin Roosevelt with hopes for a “coattail” effect. A member of their family (Paul Cantrell) was elected to sheriff, and then to the state senate. When Cantrell was elected to the state senate, his deputy, Pat Mansfield, was elected sheriff. Once Cantrell’s term was up, he ran for sheriff again, while his deputy, Mansfield ran for the state senate seat Cantrell had held.
In 1946, many McMinn County GIs had just returned from the war in Europe, and believed there was widespread corruption in the elections. They decided to challenge the Cantrell family. The then sheriff, Pat Mansfield, hired 200 deputies to “oversee” the election of his friend, Paul Cantrell. The GIs tried to observe the election process and block ballots from being taken to secret locations to be counted, but they were beaten, and some even shot by the deputies. The situation escalated into an all-out gun battle – GIs who fought for Europe’s liberation from NAZI Germany, verses Democrats trying to gain power illegitimately. In the end, the GIs won, but it had taken violence to overcome the Socialist Democrats who sought to gain power by rigging the election via voter intimidation (Sound like recent attempts by members of the New Black Panther Party to intimidate conservative voters? Of course, it’s the Socialist M.O.)

  • Jay

Yes, you lying sack of durbin, it’s because of “leaders” like you and the one in the WH that we need “assault weapons” and “large capacity magazine clip thingies.” You’d love to disarm us and get rid of that awkward voting thing wouldn’t you? Maybe if you give Bathhouse Barry a BJ you’ll be next in line for the imperial throne.

this is the line in the sand folks, who the hell do these people think they are to tell free law abiding people what type of firearms they are ALOUD to protect themselves with, these morons work for us do they not? do not be dictated to America, shall not be infringed has a very well thought out meaning, infringement will only later result in confiscation, and we the sheeple shall be subjects once again, is that the life you want for your children? just do what they tell ya Billy.

Again, we have the liberals with their minds already made up trying to make the progun people into fools and monsters while treating their sycophants as little mary sunshine.

  • rick0857

I know no one asked my opinion on the current so-called gun control debate, but I‘m going to give it to you anyway.

First and foremost there is no debate going on. How can I say that you might ask yourself? Well first we must define the terms we use. To debate is to discuss a question by considering opposed arguments, or, to equally consider opposing sides of an argument or policy.

I believe it is safe to say that this is definitely not happening in this case. There is an ongoing argument of that there is no doubt, but, the propaganda arm of the left I mean the media will only give credence to one side of this argument THEIRS. As with most causes of the left if you don’t agree with their position you’re wrong and are immediately labeled as a nut-case, a whack job, a racist, or any other myriad of terms that the left use in every case that they wish to force upon the American people.

There can and should only be one solution to this issue and that is to leave it up to the individual States to decide. Only then we will begin to see what the real effects of the so-called gun control will do. Of course those of us with common sense and even the smallest of brains can see that an armed populace is a courteous populace.

Just look at the violent crime rates in areas run by democrats and the left and compare them to areas run by conservatives. The more the government controls something the more controversial and out of control it becomes.

The government has proven time and time again that it cannot solve anything at all. We have been trying for nearly FIFTY years to solve poverty in this country and the more the government does the worse the problem becomes. Poverty hasn’t been solved it’s been exasperated (made more grievous) by the government. Don’t get me wrong government does do some things very good and they should continue those things. The military is a fine example of the government doing something right, but in reality if you look closely at the military it functions properly and effectively in SPITE of government. Why? Because the military still relies on traditions and values long since abandoned by the government. Even though those traditions are very rapidly being stripped away from the military under the current administration.

The war on drugs is a prime example of why we should not allow the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to set the standards for any sort of firearm laws or restrictions. We have spent literally billions of dollars trying to stem the flow of illegal drugs into the country and it’s all been for naught. There are as many drugs making it into the country today, as there was when the “WAR ON DRUGS” started.

Which brings me to the one point I’ve not heard anyone on the gun owners side make. After you implement all of your so-called background checks and all of your screening and mental evaluations YOU WILL NOT STOP ONE CRIMINAL from getting any gun they want. The Chuck Shumers of the world say it will stop the criminal’s from getting guns, I say POPPYCOCK because you know what…CRIMINALS BUY GUNS FROM THE SAME PEOPLE THEY BUY DRUGS FROM!!!! And until you stop the drugs and the rest of the underground economy in this country you will NEVER STOP CRIMINALS FROM GETTING AND USING GUNS!!!!!!!

  • rick0857

I can rationalize a 100 round drum magazine Senator dumb a#*, it’s really fun to fire 100 rounds as fast you can at the RIFLE RANGE

  • Mr. Durbin, like many elected officials seem to have forgotten why they were elected in the first place. They are there to serve the people of their districts and not their party leaders. If they would actually listen to all of the opinions of the people they are “suppose” to represent then we would not be in the mess we find ourselves in .
People like Mr.Durbin are slaves to the party and can’t be counted on to do what the people want. Sure they say they have talked to the people of their districts, but the only ones they contact and listen too are the party loyalist who like himself are tying to move up in the party and will do what their bosses tell them to do.
It amazes me that these people get elected over and over again. If We The People don’t get off our rear’s and hold these people accountable we will be fighting for not only the 2nd ammendment but the rest of them as well.

  • Neo

Does Chief Johnson serve King George ?

  • The Left can never debate facts.

They can only implement Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals #5 and conduct ad hominem attacks.

    They got nothing.

  • “The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed – where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.”

    Judge Alex Kozinski

  • Durbin’s intentions were clearly to discredit the NRA by smearing LaPierre publicly. The demos have little recourse when faced up against the powerful NRA organization. Durbin is a thorn in the side to every Illinois Republican. The majority of northern Democrats continue to elect him & he has become a powerful mouth piece for the Senate. He will be remembered as the Democratic axe man. I applaud LaPierre for not confronting Durbin in a face off for his rhetoric is boring mostly lies and by appearing boisterous he did more harm than good.
