El Newto called any connection between Donald Trump and his alt-right supporters absolute “garbage” as he ridiculously claimed that Trump is a “mainstream conservative.”

Do “mainstream conservatives” want single payer? Is it “mainstream conservative” to pander to anti-trade populist sentiments for the sake of political power? There are so many signs that Trump is NOT a “mainstream conservative” that I don’t think Newt really knows what those words mean.
Either he simply believes that “mainstream conservatives” only means that you attack the left, even if adopting their tactics and policies, or words have no meaning whatsoever. Really, it could be either one with this insane administration. It’s too bad that Newt shows the Trump camp will continue to violate the meanings of words even as he argues that Trump is “maturing” and calming down.
UPDATE:
Here’s the entire interview – he goes into depth about the alt-right, saying he’d never heard of it before “nutcases” started writing about it, and defends Steve Bannon:
Amazingly, neither he nor the host mention that Steve Bannon specifically said Breitbart News was catering to the alt-right. Oh well.
