New York Times writer Gail Collins was embarrassed profusely after slamming Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker for the vicious cuts to education in 2010 that obliterated schooling in the state and ushered in a new age of ignorance and stupidity! Except there was a big problem with her thesis – Walker got into office in 2011.
Yeah. Wow.
Conservatives made Gail into a laughingstock over the weekend for her failed attempt to hurt Walker’s political career.
.@nytimescollins @nytimes Blaming Scott Walker for what happened before he was governor? Well, what is time? You opened my mind. #TheFive

.@ron_fournier @nytimescollins Since you're apparently in the mood for some Real Talk, you know Walker wasn't governor in 2010, right?
— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) February 14, 2015
What else can Gail Collins blame Scott Walker for?
— Tim Carney (@TPCarney) February 16, 2015
"Collins did not reply to an email seeking comment." @nytimescollins
She did her job. On Hillary's behalf.
— MB Catnip (@MoonbatCatnip) February 16, 2015
@nytimescollins you're a proven liar. Maybe #BrianWilliams can work there. Are you hiring?
— I, Constitution (@FoundingFodder) February 16, 2015
Wait, Gail Collins wrote a hackish column abt a potential GOP presidential nominee? Well knock me over with a feather.
— Scott Lincicome (@scottlincicome) February 14, 2015
So basically NY Times correction negates Gail Collins entire column.
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) February 16, 2015
Looks like Gail Collins "needed the eraser." Well done, @nytimes!
— CNN Is Hitler (@NolteNC) February 16, 2015
We're going to get more @nytimescollins-style false reporting, not less. The media can't afford editors anymore.
— AgainstTrumpDude (@TheAmishDude) February 14, 2015
And it took the New York Times the whole weekend to issue a correction:
How long before the NYT corrects obvious error the @nytimescollins column? It's just incredible that it hasn't been fixed at this point.
— Mark Hemingway (@Heminator) February 15, 2015
No, @AdamBaldwin, sadly what @nytimescollins @ron_fournier did to @GovWalker isn't #JournalisticMalpractice, it's now #JournalisticPractice
— Derek Hunter (@derekahunter) February 15, 2015
Gail Collins column still isn’t corrected? Yes it’s embarrassing, but don’t make idiotic mistakes if you don’t want to be embarrassed.
— Mollie (@MZHemingway) February 15, 2015
Meanwhile, the National Journal’s Ron Fournier fell for it hook, line and sinker:
Welcome to the Big Time, @ScottWalker. This is @nytimescollins; she'll be keeping you real: http://t.co/tiTREpzOwq
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) February 14, 2015
I don't care whether a POTUS candidate graduated college. Really don't. Do care about the truth. Really do. http://t.co/tiTREpzOwq
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) February 14, 2015
Because he cares about the truth! LOL!
.@ron_fournier @nytimescollins Since you're apparently in the mood for some Real Talk, you know Walker wasn't governor in 2010, right?
— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) February 14, 2015
Yeah, that’s embarrassing.
