Fashion designer calls on industry to BOYCOTT making dresses for new First Lady Trump

Of course:

THE HILL – A fashion designer whose styles have been sported by Michelle Obama is boycotting dressing Melania Trump, saying she encourages “my fellow designers to do the same” when it comes to outfitting the next first lady.

“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady,” Sophie Theallet wrote in a letter this week.

“The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by,” Theallet wrote about President-elect Donald Trump.

“I encourage my fellow designers to do the same,” she continued.

“I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics,” the fashion maven wrote. “That said, as a family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money. We value our artistic freedom and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious and ethical way to create in this world.”

I’m sure there are plenty of fashion designers around and I respect Theallet’s decision not to make dresses for someone who she disagrees with.

But…

So Christian Bakers disagree with baking cakes for gay weddings because it’s against their beliefs and their lives are turned upside down with lawsuits, fines, and worse. Because DISCRIMINATION!

Fashion designers disagree with making dresses for the new First Lady because it’s against their beliefs but their decision to do so is seen as a noble protest?

So if Melania Trump went to one of these fashion designers for a dress and they refused, could/would the state to sue them for discrimination? Would that be noble? They have a business just like Christian Bakers, and it’s said that they shouldn’t be able to turn someone down based on their personal beliefs. So?

It would be a huge double standard once again, like always.
