Fox Business host GRILLS White House’s Marc Short on infrastructure bill [VIDEO]

Trump’s Legislative Affairs Director, Marc Short, was on Fox Business this morning where he was grilled about how this infrastructure bill is supposed to work by Stuart Varney.

Watch:

The key point here is that Varney argues that many states just don’t have the money for these massive infrastructure projects, especially the states that need it like New Jersey and New York. When Varney asks where the state money is supposed to come from, Short insists that states will be able to fund some of these projects and that private investment will also come along and help.

Varney then asks what incentive private investors will have to invest in public infrastructure projects and where the return on investment is supposed to come from. Short responds: Toll roads.

So not only do the wealthy pay the lion’s share of taxes, but now they will be asked to fund state infrastructure projects where they will then profit, at some point in the future, from toll roads? That sounds like a really long-term investment to me and one that is questionable at best, especially given that we’re dealing with states and local governments.

This infrastructure bill was really a bad idea to begin with and honestly it sounds like to me the White House is just putting lipstick on a pig just so they can fulfill Trump’s absurd campaign promise. They’re calling it a 1.5 trillion dollar bill, but in reality it’s a 200 billion dollar bill with 1.3 trillion in ‘hope-somebody-ponies-it-up’ money.
