Fox News Judy Miller says Phil Robertson crossed the Martin Bashir line…

Sometimes when I listen to liberal Judy Miller she seems reasonable to me on issues that I care about. But on the issue of Phil Robertson’s remarks she’s completely lost her mind. I don’t know what it is about the issue of homosexuality that makes liberals go absolutely bonkers, but suggesting that what Phil Robertson said was just as bad as Martin Bashir’s fecal-mouthed attack on Sarah Palin is absurd.

Libs in the media are constantly misconstruing what he said to make it sound worse and the main line they are going with is that he compared homosexuality to bestiality. But he never did. There was no comparison. He did mention them in the same sentence however, but in talking about the progression of sin. His point was that once you break from God’s design of man and woman being sexually made for each other, then anything goes and it doesn’t matter what it is, it’s all sin. There was no direct comparison of the two. But hey, if it helps get him fired from his super-popular show then by all means misconstrue his words and take them out of context.

The other things they say is that he argued that gay people won’t go to Heaven. But that’s not true either. He paraphrased Corinthians to point out that it’s a sinful behavior based on what the Bible says and a the end of his paraphrase he says ‘it’s just no right’, talking about it being sinful. He never made any claim as to whether certain people will or won’t go to Heaven or Hell, he just paraphrased scripture.

In any case, I don’t think what Robertson said was hateful or offensive at all. Crude, yes…perhaps even a bit inarticulate. But offensive and hateful? No way. He just stated his opinion when he was asked about it.
