Fox News reports on Bolton/Trump interview, says he may NOT be up for top job after all….

Fox News reporter John Roberts is now reporting that sources from the transition team are telling them that Mitt Romney is still the top contender for the job of Secretary of State, and while Bolton may be considered for that role, he may be a better fit as the number two position, the Deputy Secretary of State:

Romney, then Bolton? [sce emoji=”facepalm”/] Talk about backwards.

I won’t complain if Bolton is on the team, but he should really be the Secretary.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about this position:

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States is the chief assistant to the Secretary of State. If the Secretary of State resigns or dies, the Deputy Secretary of State becomes Acting Secretary of State until the President nominates and the Senate confirms a replacement.

In case you didn’t see it, Roberts is also reporting that Mattis is the top contender for Secretary of Defense:

mattis

Because Mattis hasn’t been retired from the military for seven years, he will need a waiver from Congress to get the job. This is why, Roberts says, that there are a couple of other contenders for the position. Apparently Trump wants to make sure that waiver is ironclad before he nominates Mattis.
