Marco Rubio gave an amazing speech this morning called Is America Still An Exceptional Nation?. It has to be one of the best speeches I’ve heard from Rubio and could have been easily been the keynote. I’d say Sarah Palin has her work cut out for her if she wants to top this one:

Love me some Rubio!!! I really wish he had been in this round, but hopefully we can get him to be Senate Majority Leader

  • Anonymous

Does anyone doubt that this man is a future president?

    • http://www.therightscoop.com/ The Right Scoop

      I have no doubt.

      • Anonymous

I was just thinking that during his speech. Imagine now for a moment. If he runs for President. Suddenly he’ll be accused of not being a natural born citizen… with two foreign parents. Trutherism will get turned on its head.

        • Anonymous

It’s not “Birtherism”. It’s a fact. Natural born is defined as having at least one parent who was BORN American. You can kick ande scream for him to be president but HE IS NOT ELIGIBLE. I wish he was, we need him.

          • http://twitter.com/Weirddave0 Dave

Oh good fucking Christ, give it up. I disagree with the 14th amendment as it is currently interpreted in the courts on many counts, but Rubio was born here to parents who were legally residing in the US. He’s a natural born citizen and thus eligible for the presidency. You’ve taken a possibly legitimate doubt about Obama and turned it into a pedantic crusade against common sense.

            • K-Bob

Don’t you blaspheme. Don’t you blaspheme in here.

              • http://twitter.com/Weirddave0 Dave

Oh no! I “blasphemed” by using a curse word in conjunction with the Lord’s name! Horrors! I have been promised that God himself will eventually have a chat with me about the myriad sins I have committed in my life, I’m not particularly worried that that one will be on the list.

That being said, this is your playground, and so I must follow your rules. That is just and fair, so please accept my heartfelt apology for breaking them. No offense was meant, my invective was simply indicative of my frustration at the idiotic notion that Rubio isn’t a natural born citizen taking up time and discussion space when there are other, far more important matters on our nation’s plate.

            • Anonymous

Well, now, aren’t we lucky to have Dave here to set history straight for us. Dave doesn’t much like the current interpretation of “Natural Born Citizen”, so he is going to give it a going over. Imagine all of our concern about the Constitution quickly swept aside by Dave’s infinite knowledge. Huh! Conveniently he has blurred all of the lines between “Natural Born”, “Naturalized”, and “American” citizen so that even the lowly lawyer, judge or Constitutional scholar needn’t worry about differentiating them. I am sure that Adams, Washington and Jefferson have all stopped spinning in their graves with Dave around!

              • http://twitter.com/Weirddave0 Dave

Not at all. I just have the stunning ability to read and understand the straightforward phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”. You should try it sometime, if you can ever find your way out of that cornfield full of straw men you’re occupying.

Rubio isn’t eligible? You forget who is in the White House, moron?

      • Anonymous

But still don’t try to Perry him into it, let the guy do his arms in the Senate and run when He feels so.

        Maybe in 2020

    • Anonymous

      No doubts here.

    • Anonymous

I do doubt, he’s a snake. You do NOT defend Romney as a “Conservative” when he clearly is not.

The political thing to do is to come out and support both Newt and Romney and say you are either A. staying out of it and support both and that both should be positive, and B. keep one’s mouth shut.

It does say a lot. Wasn’t he also a co-sponsor of that anti-Piracy nonsense?

      • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/2GR77FIJZ2A2ZBKZFGRXYG7QY4 kim

Yes he was a co-sponsor of the SOPA/PIPA mess. Just because he is charismatic and says the right things doesn’t cut it. We have one of those. Watch what they do.

        • Anonymous

He was also the first to retract his support

LOL…just because you’re too dumb to know anything about politics and generally have “Shinny ball Syndrome” doesn’t mean the rest of us have to take it.

                Up yours!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1497076194 Travis Pierson

Romney was one of the first big names to endorse Rubio when he entered the primary against Charlie Christ. I think he was paying back a favor. That sort of thing matters to some people.

        • Anonymous

I know that, but I also know Rubio is smarter than to call him Conservative as I wrote above. There is way of saying things.

Rubio has intentionally tried to push this “Romney is Conservative” BS. Even Levin commented on it. Sorry, Rubio is full of BS, the best I’ve seen in a long time, but I will not trust or support him.

          • PFFV

Ok the glass is always half empty I understand. In what ways do you dislike Allen West? I think he is the model true conservative and an American Hero that will be President someday.

I think it is important to remember everyone makes mistakes; I try not to judge so harshly. I do understand that we have to pick our candidate wisely and we have to look at their actions as well as what they say to do so. I like Rubio but I love West far more.

            • Anonymous

What? I said Rubio, I love Allan West screwball.

              • PFFV

m_j_s did you watch this Unbelievable Marco Rubio Speech? This has to be the most inspiring speech I have seen in a very long time. No one has articulated this nation’s exceptionalism like this since Reagan. This man is amazing and a leader that can inspire the entire world. Allen West is still my hero but Rubio has an amazing gift of American Passion and setting the record straight. It has been far too long since we have heard the message of American Exceptionalism with the passion Mr. Rubio had here in this speech. There had to be many standing ovations that the camera couldn’t capture. This is one of the best speeches I have ever seen in my lifetime. Rubio will be President, no doubt about it.

                • Anonymous

Yes, I saw it. Explain Rubio only defending Romney in FL and calling him and labeling Romney has “Conservative”. I’m curious, because no one can explain this other than “he was repaying Romney’s support of Rubio during Rubio’s run for Senate”. Right. Certainly. If Mark Levin had a problem with that, I know I’m not crazy.

Rubio is a sly politician, who gives great speeches, but his core is in question.

      • Anonymous

Because between Ron Paul, Santorum and Gingrich, He had much choice.

I firmly believe Romney is running to lose the election, but prevent any GOP loses in the Senate and the House. He will receive a big paycheck for that.

      • Anonymous

I agree, he didn’t defend Newt against Romney’s smear machine..that was disappointing. I love that he speaks great, and he is someone I will enjoy watching as he becomes more seasoned, but he has left me with some questions about how he aligned himself with Romney.

        • Anonymous

Besides, he’ll be bald by the time he gets to run for President.

          • Anonymous

Wow, you are full of such deep, intellectual comments. We got it, you don’t like him. But, most of us graduated sixth grade…move on.

            • Anonymous

Wow, you’re such a gash. You have your little “gone” picture it really makes you credible.

    • Anonymous

It is too bad he doesn’t Qualify. Senate Majority Leader he would be great. Ambassador, Cabinet member. It would be wonderful. Rubio can serve, and be great for the country, and it would be great to see him replacing McConnell. But if he is nominated as VP, the polls show it would be detrimental for the Republican Party.

      • http://twitter.com/ScottHoiland Scott Hoiland

I am sorry, but you are so wrong. You are wrong for two reasons.

        1) The media/left know he is a threat, not because of what he can become, but because he is Hispanic and the media/left will fight tooth and nail to not lose that voting block.

        2) This is the most important. Conservatism wins every single time when you can articulate it for everyone to understand. Rubio does this better than any person since Reagan.

    • PFFV

I love him and would gladly vote for him for POTUS. Some bring up the issue of Rubio not being eligible because his is not a natural born citizen. This piece explains that Mr. Rubio is qualified to run for President. If you have any doubts read on http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/07/the_good_news_rubios_eligible.html

Hungary is filled with people and politicians who believe that the only way they can do better is to have others do worse. A communist is coming to a neighborhood near you.

    • Anonymous

Actually Chris SUN News had a great interview with the Hungarian Ambassador in Canada. Hungary is suddenly the most conservative country in Europe, next to the Czech Republic. The Euro Zone hates them and are in campaign mode to undermine the credibility of its government. Communism isn’t coming from the East this time… it’s coming from it’s roots in West Europe’s institutions… namely Brussels.

Here’s the 7 min. interview. I must admit I was heartened by the Czech conservatism, but Hungary threw me for a loop… especially in light of the fact that Hungary produced the worst figure of Cultural Marxism to destroy Western Civilization through the family and sexual perversion… Georg Lukacs who’s aim was to destroy the existing culture.

      Here’s that interview

It is so disturbing that our jv team is so far superior to our varsity. Rubio, Ryan, etc…fight the fight without apology. I pray every day that the annointed league understand better that this is the example that they need to follow and we would never lose elections.

Do what you want, no one really cares. Let me tell you this and I will be coded because this I do find disgusting. There are many of “us” that find it beneath honor to pull the military service card when it is to excuse language. I think you get my point and I do not need to tell the world where I come from, where I may have been, and for whom I may have served. That is not the code that I live by and frankly, that is something that the left likes to do.

Progressivism = progressing pass the fundamentals of the US Constitution = social programs and big government. Every progressive wants to be a socialist. Socialism a.k.a. communism (in a voting system). We can deduct that progressivism is communism in progress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000067496695 Ron Hollis

Progressivism / communism has been responsible for more deaths in the past century than all the wars combined. Most of the “useful idiots” that support Barry will likely end up dead or wishing they were. If we fall to communism, I will surely die – but I’ll take a few “comrades” with me.

I just can’t look at Rubio the same way after he trashed on Gingrich who was trying to deal with an outrageous immigration problem.

    • Anonymous

I don’t trust him any more. Like Allen West says, something happens to people when they get inside the beltway.
The TEA party in Florida elected him and he sided with the establishment and backed Mittwit. When someone screws you like that you don’t let it happen again. The dude is only out for himself. He talks good but it’s time for deeds not talk. Obama talks pretty good too.

Love Marco Rubio, and that was a good speech. However, I think Sarah is going to have a heckuva lot to say this year. Don’t know if she can outdo her convention speech or her speech in Madison, WI — “game on, Mr. President” — or her speech in Iowa on crony capitalism; however, I’ll lay odds that she’ll fire up the CPAC crowd and bring ‘em to their feet!

  • Anonymous

Very presidential! What a contrast to the current poser-and-chief. Wish Marco was in the big chair.

    • http://twitter.com/kjtreier Karl Treier

He can’t be POTUS. I’m an uber conservative, but I also believe the Constitution is the basis for law in this country and Marco Rubio is not an Article II Natural Born Citizen, he’s less of one than Obama, assuming of course Obama really was born in HI.

      • Anonymous

“No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.”

Rubio was born in the US with documentation to prove it and has always been a citizen of the US…not seeing where the Constitution requires anything but that

        • Anonymous

Right. If Obama is eligible, Rubio is also eligible.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/Q4TGRJAYICX2HHQNNVFWN5QSVA Travis

Rubio (and possibly Obama) may be native born citizens – ie, born in the US. The Constitution specifies natural born, though – ie, a child of two citizens. One word can make a big difference.

          • Anonymous

The SCOTUS ruled 100 years ago that “natural born” is defined as having been born on American soil (or American military base) to two parents who are US citizens at the time of the subject’s birth.

          • Anonymous

Well if Obama has been declared eligible in numerous courts, does that not set precedent in terms of presidential eligibility?

        • Anonymous

Rubio’s Parents WERE NOT ( not yelling emphasizing) AMERICAN CITIZENS when he was born. This is a bit information that people need to be familiar with.

The actual text of the THIRD CONGRESS in 1795 states, “…children of citizens [plural = both parents] of the United States…shall be considered citizens of the United States; Provided That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons, whose fathers have never been resident in the United States…” (THIRD CONGRESS Session II. • David G Lalka

I, too, admire Mr. Rubio and hope that he will run someday soon:

He IS in fact eligible to run as a citizen of the US, because he was born in Miami and under INA s.301, a person born in the US and subject to the jurisdiction thereof is a national and citizen of the US at birth. Therefore, he would be considered a natural born citizen or a citizen of the US as required by Article II, section 1 of the Constitution.

This ruling comes from an immigration/naturalization attorney

Interesting point – I’ll have to research that further.

BO, a socialist with questionable credentials, slipped through the cracks… surely a patriotic American citizen is more electable.

Rubio is so clear and concise on what America is all about. We need Rubio now and not in four years. He’s ready. His message is a call to action, I hope he answers his own call and joins the race for President. I am very angry with Rudio and a few other Republicans that chose to sit this election out. If the country is at such a tipping point, such a crossroads, I think they could figure out a way to run for the presidency and also have their families taken care of.

Good speech. I don’t think libs look to Jimmy Carter as their favorite 20th Century president though…probably FDR…

Anyway, I have an idea. At the convention, after Ron Paul prevents Mitt Romney from getting the nomination on the first ballot, how about Rand Paul and Marco Rubio form a ticket, with Ron Paul agreeing to serve as the Secretary of the Treasury during his son’s first term. I’d say Romney could be the Secretary of Commerce, but I’m pretty sure Rand would defund and close that agency like his father proposed. Maybe Romney can just pack it up and head over to the Democratic Convention and give a keynote there. ;)

Yes, Senator Rubio, America is still an exceptional nation — and you, Sir, are the best evidence. I was alive when John Kennedy gave his inaugural address and when he spoke in Berlin; I listened as President Reagan challenged the Soviets to tear down their tyrannical wall — and for the last 26 minutes I listened as you challenged Americans everywhere to remember who they are and what they stand for. On all three occasions I was proud to be an American. I hope I live long enough to hear your inaugural, Senator. And when you run, please allow me to help.

Not to take anything away from a great speech, but, Sarah Palin will no doubt knock it out of the park. Just her presence alone will make everyone forget what Senator Rubio was talking about. Rubio needs to stay in the Senate, and if we take over the majority, he needs to be considered for a leadership position in the Senate where he can be most effective.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2FSG4SIZQF34FTSHQNB5P7LUFM david

By my estimation, Rubio will finish his term as Senator which will be up in 2016… if the Republicans win this election cycle then he will not run in 2016 because we will have an incumbant running for re-election. Then he will have two years between 2016 and 2018 which will be the Florida gubernatorial race. During those two years he may rerun for the Senate or take an brief ambassorship to a prominent foreign country, bolstering his foreign policy creds. Then in 2018, he will become the Governor of Florida for four years which will put him at the year 2022. Then he can run for re-election in Florida and then by 2024 he will run for and be the unstoppable candidate for the presidency we will have ever seen (since Eisenhower). Any alternative road to the White House will have required him to either run as a Vice Presidential candiate or to have run against a sitting incumbant. By the way, if this is the path he takes he will have been a dually elected Governor of Florida (first to win the presidency form this State) and a fromer U.S. Senator with a possible ambassorship in between. Furthermore, he will have been one of the most celebrated Conservtives this generation has ever known, and the day he takes the oath of office he will only be at age 53.

When he retires from the presidency at the age of 61, Conservatives will have its best spokesman since Reagan, whose presence and voice will be remain (if the Lord so chooses) for another approx. 30 years, taking us into the year 2062 with a leader who will continue to be a guide in the fight for Conservtivism for the next several generations.

**Note: the year 2020 would be the next soonest date he could run, but this projection is based on a Republican winning this cycle, being popular and winning re-election, and then in 2020 having whoever wins the Vice Presidency this cycle running for the presidency. At this point, Rubio could accept to be the Vice Presidential candidate (depending on who the candidate is) or hold out to the following election in 2024… also, assuming that the Vice Presidential candidate is potentially not a good presidential candidate and is projected to lose, in which case, he would be wise to wait a cycle and then create a powerhouse ticket for the 2024 race.

In Florida we keep hearing Charlie Crist’s name mentioned. Charlie Crist is not even close as Great Americans Rubio and Allen West are valuable to Florida and the USA. Rubio rocked CPAC.

Ginsurgh should be impeached for her outright claim that the US Constitution is NOT the best. She let out a claim that has NEVER been uttered before by someone that their entire job is to interpret the US Constitution!

Impeach her and others within our government that do not stand by their oath next year when we hold the government. Get er done!

The Heritage Foundation’s Guide shows how the First Congress in 1790 provided that “the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born.” This was our first naturalization statute (1 Stat. 104). This Congress contained many Members, notably James Madison himself, who had just framed the Constitution in Philadelphia.

    ROUNDS COOKING OFF

The Democrats have this “enemies list” — denominated in epithets aimed at the people whose wallets they wish to hijack and take up residence inside. You can be a “Racist!” and you can be a “Terrorist!” and you can be a “Dictator” and you can be a “Hostage-taker!” and you can “Wear a tinfoil hat!” and you can be a “Homophobe!” and you can be a “Teabagger!” — a homosexual man taking his partner’s scrotum into his mouth. You can be “Selfish!” and you can be a “Wacko!” and you can be a “Hick!” and you can be a “Rube!” and you can be “Uneducated” and you can be an “Extremist!” You can be a “Right-wing-nut!” and you can be “Mentally Ill” and you can be “Deranged!” and you can be a “Flake!” and you can be a “Warmonger!” and you can be “Unenlightened!” and you can be a “FatCat!” and you can be a “Nazi!” and you can be a “Fascist!” — although no one more closely approaches the precise description of “Nazi!” or “Fascist!” than the usual Democrat propagandist — either official, or self-appointed.

Lies, after all, are the heart and soul and the sword and shield of the Democrat party.

So all you have to do to occupy multiple epithets on the Democrats’ enemies list is to insist that they take their hands off yourself, off your wallet, off your property, off your kids, off your diet, off your healthcare, off your household appliances, off your car, off your bank account, off your weapons of self-defense, off your liberty, and off your freedom of speech. Insist on all these good things – and that qualifies you to be spat upon by nasty, mean-spirited scum — by The Friends of All Mankind — by a gang of lying, thieving, dope-smoking, pill-popping, coke-snorting, sticky-fingered, bloodsxcking, tax-eating, gun-stealing, predatory humanitarian hoodlums, thugs and gangsters — by the Democrat party, in other words. No political party in the history of America more profoundly deserves absolute and outright destruction.

    THE AGE OF OHBUMMER

OhBummer is a b00b and a fool for attacking the American Tea Partiers. Heck, he thought that he had all of us hoodwinked, hornswoggled, and bamboozled. He’s annoyed that the Tea Partiers are not grateful to him for hijacking the American healthcare system — the greatest act of vandalism perpetrated upon the American people since a gang of jihadi frootloops and loonytoons hijacked some planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center towers — and the Pentagon, and made a failed attempt to crash into the White House — and instead drilled a hole in a Pennsylvania farm thanks to some very courageous American passengers.

And — now widely seen for what he is — the president presents a problem for the Democrat-captured media. They pump out his propaganda for him — and, like the opinion monitors in Ayn Rand’s novel, “Atlas Shrugged” — they are dodging brickbats and rotten vegetables.

    He’s pompous, pampered, and pretentious — a pseudo-intellectual fop. He’s a glorified, smooth-lyin’ dandy, and slicker than Sick Willie Clinton. He’s a dictator-on-the-make, a bloodsxcking, predatory humanitarian thug, and a low-down skunk.

He’s a fraud and a swindler. He lies when he inhales and he lies when he exhales; his oxygen is the falsification of reality. He lies, placidly and laconically, as if deception were a soporific drug.

He’s a friend of the poor and the downtrodden — indeed, you can hear the milk of human kindness sloshing around inside of him when he walks.

He declares himself the post-racial leader — “Let me be clear!” he intones — and he hides behind his race, daring his critics to put their reputation for fairness at risk.

He pauses to ponder the portent of his propaganda — and it is fakery; he smiles and his mendacity comes shining through. Shake hands with Barak Hushpuppy OhBummer — “The Mistake of ‘08” — the illegal alien squatter in the White House until his “papers” have been lab-tested for age and chemicals, etc — the community organizer of the OhBummer Wrecking Crew, the Fleabagger-in-Chief, the King of The Republic of Lies — and America’s first and last Arab president. Now count your fingers.

    ENVY AND THE ANTI-CAPITALISTIC MENTALITY

The enemies of pure, laissez-faire capitalism — a politico-economic model which has never been tried — are adept at laying the shortcomings of government policy [statism] at the feet of capitalism.

And the more frequent, abject and complete the failure of these statist policies, the more urgently they demand more of the same.

But Austrian School [capitalist] economist Murray Rothbard argued that if our goal is the Benthamite “greatest good for the greatest number,” then it is necessary to adopt laissez faire capitalism.

Is it true that there are unequal success rates among human beings — and therefore unequal rewards in the free market? Sure!

My body mechanic [my doctor] and my auto mechanic both make more money than I do — but of course I would not recommend that you hire me to remove your appendix or fix your car — unless you’re pretty much tired of living.

The market rightly rewards them better than it rewards me for their kind of work — pero asi es la vida.

SAM ADAMS IS MORE THAN JUST A GREAT YANKEE BEER!

TAX HATER SAMUEL ADAMS, ON A ROLL AND ARMED TO THE TEETH, AUGUST, 1776……

“You darkeners of counsel, who would make the property, lives and religion of millions depend on the evasive interpretations of musty parchments; who would send us to antiquated charters of uncertain and contradictory meaning, to prove that the present generation are not bound to be victims to cruel and unforgiving despotism, tell us whether our pious and generous ancestors bequeathed to us the miserable privilege of having the rewards of our honesty, industry, the fruits of those fields which they purchased and bled for, wrested from us at the will of men over whom we have no check.

“Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say, What should be the reward of such sacrifices? Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, and supplicate the friendship, and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom – go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

“Courage, then, my countrymen, our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty. Dismissing, therefore, the justice of our cause, as incontestable, the only question is, What is best for us to pursue in our present circumstances?”

“It does not take a majority to prevail….but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”

“Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first a right to life, secondly to liberty, and thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.”

“The Constitution shall never be construed… to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
