Gawker publishes list of New Yorkers who own guns, calls them a-holes

Gawker has published a list of (a-hole) New Yorkers who own guns, by name and type of license. It would contain the address however NYPD doesn’t provide addresses on their list:

Last month, the Journal News sparked a firestorm of protest when it published a mappable database of every licensed gun owner in Westchester and Rockland counties, north of New York City. The paper obtained the data—which New York state law explicitly and unambiguously demands be made public—through open records requests. The reaction was swift and furious—gun rights and privacy advocates published the names and addresses of the paper’s editors in retaliation, and the paper (ironically) hired armed guards to protect against threats.

One weird reaction came from TV wraith Ann Coulter, who told Fox News’ Sean Hannity last week: “If we’re producing lists of gun permit owners, I want them for Manhattan. I want to know how many rich liberals with their body guards have gun permits.” You’re in luck, Ann. I happened to have just such a list in my filing cabinet. Here it is.

Below is a 446-page list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. I obtained it from the NYPD two-and-a-half years ago via a Freedom of Information Law request. Because the NYPD is more interested in raping and/or eating ladies and spying on Muslims than it is in honoring public records law, the list contains only the names, and not the addresses, of the licensees.

They even provide a link to a mirror of a 2010 website that contained address of people who owned pistols. Ugh. They seem to be out to vilify people who own guns just like the Journal News. The intimidation campaign continues.

Somebody will sue. And win. For one of the first times in my life, I’m on the side of a sleazy trial lawyer.

    • physicsnut

who knows – I am more concerned with the Right and Wrong of it. Who knows what is in these laws. Lots of people thought the info was confidential.

    • AtlEsquire1973

As a “sleazy trial lawyer” (I don’t think I am sleazy, but for argument sake…). I would take these case pro bono (free). As a gun owner with concealed carry permit I think what these people are doing is borderline criminal.

      • Jazzee

wow could you do a class action lawsuit for those people outed by that ignorant paper????? YOU should contact some of those folks….a lawyer willing to do something on principle is a friend of mine…………..thank YOU

      • TimeForAnarchy

Yes, borderline criminal. And I know that the legal profession does some very good work. Your statement speaks for itself. Res ispa loquitur (I think I spelled that correctly). My Latin is a little rusty…….

And I would donate to a fund to defray legal costs for these people. America is still fee, are we not??

      • David F. Podesta

Borderline? What do you call knowingly and recklessly putting another person in danger of death or serious injury? That’s what these fools are doing, after all.

  • johnos2112

Your number one a hole was in charge of fast and furious and the Benghazi gun smuggling. ( Yes Benghazi guns and other weapons smuggling ). That A hole is occupying the Oval office!

    • BlueGood

These people seem to have a serious problem with comprehension….they have NO CLUE as to how many peoples lives they are endangering when they publish a LIST for the bad guys to download for future crimes….

God save us from such STUPID STUPID PEOPLE!

      • Jazzee

    • RighteousCrow_JustCaws

And Ambassador Stevens participated in the weapons smuggling to …”anti-Gaddafi militias, including the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIF),…”

Scoop linked to an excellent visual schematic a few months ago showing Stevens’ role in the Bengazi gun smuggling operation, but I don’t remember where it is.

  • And after the 2nd Amendment goes away and the Messiah-In-Chief immediately dismantles the 1st Amemdment (Freedom of the Press Especially Included), who do you think the first people the MSM will ask for help? They will want all the people that just had their guns and ammo taken away to swoop in and save them from their own stupidity.

  • bobbybstrd

Gawker are the biggest bunch of aholes there is.

  • colliemum

These lists, published by gawker and that journal online, are nothing but modern-day totalitarian methods of naming “The Enemy”, thus giving license to the ‘righteously angry’ mob to attack them, physically or socially.

The people who publish such lists are similar to what was known as “Schreibtischtaeter” after WWII: German bureaucrats who did the paperwork so that the trains could roll to Auschwitz – all orderly and properly accounted for – while they didn’t dirty their hands with the actual killings.

    Same thing.
Crocodile tears after someone on that list gets attacked: ‘that’s not what we wanted’ …

    • nibblesyble

      here here!

    • AmericanDream12

  • Got your arm guards yet Gawker?

    • sjmom

      They’re going to need them.

      • Ya play, ya pay. Time for John the editor to put the big boy pants on…………..

        • sjmom

Time for the editor to be held accountable in a court of law.

  • deeme

I saw Wendy Williams today it came on after the news and she was ostracizing Fantasia for saying Gay marriage is against what the Good Book says. This is what they do they demonize anyone who doesn’t agree with their values..or the lack there of..they think they know so much they must decide what is good for U.S. from our light bulbs to the size of our drinks to the weapons we may have..Some of those a holes were cops , would they like cops to have no weapons as well??? These people are out of their mind..I don’t know anyone who wants to play class warfare anymore..but we still have whole blue states that call elections..I’m pretty sure it’s time to divide up the country..Red vs. Blue..let the blue do something new and stupid every day..we dont’ care..Just leave the rest of U.S. alone..

    • aposematic

Hmmmm…. Nice thoughts; but, do not the Blue States see it as their calling to not leave anyone alone, especially those not like them?

      • deeme

Oh they can bug the hell out of anyone who lives in their states but we aren’t paying for it..we will divide the money up straight down the middle and see in living color who is spending all the cash and costing the country a ton of money with their looney b.s..they can’t tax our side..or regulate our side or sue our side or call us racist and blame us for anything that they created in their own demented minds anymore..We aren’t victims, nor did we make them victims..most of U.S. are doing the best we can to raise our families..we don’t have time to do the things they accuse U.S. of on a daily died from a crazy nut, probably got that way from a combination of things, but one thing for sure..guns didn’t make him that way..and neither did any of U.S. minding our own business..this is as insane as the game are people who own guns responsible for something a kid’s upbringing had more to do with then anything else..we would more blame his first five years then the gun..or honest gun owners who don’t know this kid ..

  • sjmom

So, return the favor and publish the name, number and address of Gawker and its employees.

  • Skullf15

Call the newspaper…jam their lines. (who has the number).

    • MeanGreenBeret

      or [email protected]

      • Joe

I just called them thanks !

There are some attorneys on that list who will not be happy!

        BYE – BYE GAWKER!

        • imissAB

          Robert Deniro too.

  • Skullf15

Tell them you want to see the map, so you know what houses NOT to rob.

  • JeffWRidge

They should try to work up a list of all of the criminals who own guns illegally. That would be an eye-opener for the clueless.

  • Well, I worry more for the people who appear on the map who do NOT have guns. Now the thieves and robbers know which houses are defenseless. If I were a NON-gun owner, I would sue the newspaper for broadcasting the news that I had NO guns on my property, which could, in theory at least, make me more vulnerable to robberies. I’d like to see the ACLU take that case!

  • Joe

    This is a HOOT!

MY name is on the list

I left New York 20 years ago

    They are the A-HOLES!

These jerks are located in BROOKLYN – ’nuff said

I just called them and left a very polite message!

    • sjmom

    • LOL Joe that cracked me up. Did you speak bold to them I hope?!!

      • Joe

I was sincerely polite and cordial (no bold either)

If I was “polite” – I would have wrote it that way

I find if you sound crazy – You won’t be taken seriously

BUT – I am sure they will receive some “polite” calls from “The BOYS”

        • You’re a treasure Joe. LOL. I’m proud of you for keeping it cool. Now, I’d love be a fly on the wall and hear “the Boys” calls!

          • Joe

You will probably “hear” about it in the NY POST or NEW YORK News

Glad I moved out of there – so they can’t blame me

            • Well, I never read the compost so, I most likely won’t hear. As for you, they’ll probably blame you just as they figure out they can’t blame Bush. 😉

    • BlueGood

Joe you are a bad bad gun toting durty guy!………..Proud of YOU!…LOL

    • aposematic

Did you check to see if you’re still registered to vote in NY?

      • Joe

I will check – good idea!

  • The Gawker “reporter” is John Cook, married to Allison Benedikt:

With a little googling you can find the addresses and phone numbers of their families….

  • notebene

Somebody needs to publish the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all journalists abusing their job! They need to be stalked for the filth that they are! Oh yeah…they have ARMED security! It is time to declare war on the lamestream media and take away their privacy. Law- abiding American citizens, who are responsible and register their weapons should not be being abused like this! Let’s call this garbage what it is…bullying from the left wing propaganda pushers. We need to start using their tactics on them. Publish their private lives for the world to see. Let’s see what the holier than thou journalist that wrote this filth and endangered law-abiding citizens does off the job. Who does he hang out with? Does he have a family? Publish untruths or any perverted truth about him and let’s see how brave he really is!

    • tinlizzieowner

In other words, do to them what they did to Sarah Palin.

      • notebene

Absolutely! Use their tactics on their evil, low class behinds! Bullies can’t stand to have their methods used on them…they run like the cowards they are!

        • tinlizzieowner

I keep hearing well meaning conservatives say “we’re more principled than that”. Well, I’m not. Where did being ‘principled’ get us in this last election? I did a stretch in Viet Nam, I know all about the ‘rules of engagement’ that got a lot of my Air Force ‘Brothers’ shot down and are getting a lot of my young ‘Brothers and Sisters’ killed and maimed, playing ‘politically correct’ games in Afghanistan right now.
This is a war and as far as I’m concerned there ain’t no rules. There’s winning and there is loosing, I’m not a big fan of loosing.

          • notebene

I’m with you…the only way to deal with a bully is to give him a bloody nose and send him running! It is the only way this will stop! Use their tactics…publish their dirt and watch them change their tune about privacy rights!

            • tinlizzieowner

Exactly. The mantra of the left a decade ago was “Question Authority”. Now that they are ‘the authority’, we’re being told that questioning authority (namely the Obama administration), is ‘unpatriotic’.
Use their situational hypocrisy against them, there’s plenty of it to go around.

    • aquaviva
      • Joe

      • notebene

This proves this man is more sinister than the gun owners….what fool calls law abiding citizens vulgar names and publishes their addresses, when he has a pregnant wife and a child at home? He should be brought up on child endangerment charges!

    • Expose Gannett
    • Expose Gannett

Use Google, then send your info to [email protected] and we’ll post it here

  • nibblesyble

In that case they should also publish the liberal a**hole’s addresses that employ people who use guns to defend their smarmy behinds. I somehow think that list will not be coming.

  • WhiteGuy2

The liberal mind is so warped and twisted it defies the laws of the universe.

    Legal gun ownership = A-hole
Illegal gun ownership= pretend it doesn’t exist

    Legal immigration = so what
Illegal immigration = the backbone of the nation

Traditional marriage = family values suck
Gay marriage = isn’t it wonderful

    Military veteran = baby killer
    Terrorist = freedom fighter

Terrorist attack = man caused disaster/workplace violence

Law abiding working man = raise his taxes
Criminal = he just needs help and compassion

I could go on and on but you get the point.

    • aposematic

A good start on the exposed tip of the liberal iceberg.

  • 3seven77

“Because the NYPD is more interested in raping and/or eating ladies and spying on Muslims than it is in honoring public records law, the list contains only the names, and not the addresses, of the licensees.”

Hmmmm. Seems I wasn’t aware that it was the NYPD’s job to publish the names of LEGAL gun owners. Maybe the officers don’t have the time to get the list to the publishers because they are too busy taking salt shakers off restaurant tables and arresting people for buying large sodas.

  • physicsnut

same tactics as Stalin used against the Kulaks. Of course, Feinstein’s bill is just warmed over Hitler gun control act of 1938.

  • mjs_28s

Interesting that those that own guns on that list are supposedly a-holes but wouldn’t the a-holes be the ones not on the list that own their gun(s) illegally? What about the gang bangers? Street thugs? Underground criminals?

So, if you don’t want to be an a-hole then buy or steal, a gun that is not legal to have and don’t register it.

    • Better yet, Gawker is likely one of those who has bodyguards with guns, since he wouldn’t dare get his own lily white, sanctimonious hands dirty.

  • sDee

Two farm kids with a couple of Ruger 10/22’s explain what a farce this “assault weapon” moniker is, and just how gullible a sheep nation we have become.

    • Hey sDee- I’ve missed you. Off topic, but here’s the latest one I’ve been working on:
Let me know what you think please? Thanks!!

      • Nukeman60

I just watched it, Duckie. It was OUTstanding. I loved your choices in music, especially the Dire Straits song. Very apropos and spot on. This was very professionally done. I think you should submit it to Scoop for it’s own thread, perhaps an open thread.

The opening line summed up what we all feel and should be the banner of everything we do:

‘The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.’ – Thomas Jefferson

        • Thank you Nuke! I don’t know about Scoop putting it up. I guess I could try. I would like as many people to see it as possible- I just want people to know and never forget. I love the Jefferson quote too- thought it was perfect for it. Thank you for your encouragement dear friend- it means SO much more than you know.

          • Nukeman60

Seriously, I think it would go viral. Scoop would love it. I can’t wait for part II.

            • Maybe. I just sent it to him. I did tweet it today and a few re tweeted it for me. I hope people can see this- especially those who haven’t a clue about it. I’m going to start working on part II tonight. Getting more pictures right now.

  • Watchman74

The left always project there own worst traits onto others. Everyone else is always a racist or ahole but never them.

  • Sober_Thinking

I despise frivolous lawsuits big time. But it’s time to load up the courts on these people for doing this. It doesn’t matter if you win or not… they wanna bump, let’s bump back.

And wait for the crimes to begin on this gun-owners homes… even if it’s just vandalism.

    • Joe

I believe there are some attorneys on that list

      This should be fun!

    • stage9

What you should do is continue posting their information to the internet — where they live, when they’re home, where they shop, what they drive.

Until radicals are served the same medicine they dish out — until you put them down and keep them down — they’re going to continue to act like criminals.

      • Sober_Thinking

        I agree with you 100%.

The sad thing is the media would actually report that story though – further painting conservatives, the Tea Party or gun owners as a menace.

But I am all for that… they need to feel hunted and ridiculed for a change. When bullies are bullied, they usually bully less.

  • This attempt at intimidation is kind of like the “skinhead” movement in Europe a few years ago. When you get all skinheaded up (and I don’t just refer to the haircut, which is exactly the kind of haircut I have these days), you think it looks intimidating. Oooh, Scary!

The reality is it’s like hanging a big, fat, “loser” sign around your neck, making you unemployable, marking you as untrustworthy, and causing people to avoid you.

Same with these “let’s ‘out’ the gun owners” idiots. They’ve hung big, fat, “loser” signs around their necks. It says, for one thing, “please sue me out of house and home.” And they will be sued. First person on that list who’s house is broken into, or who is attacked, and the lawsuits will begin.

And make no mistake: these people are doing this “outing” with a clear, malicious intent. So they will be sued clear thru bankruptcy, into homelessness, and it needs to happen without mercy, or someone else will try to do it again.

    • stage9

That’s why the 60’s radicals shed the terrorist persona and robed themselves in suits and ties. They’re still terrorists underneath, wolves in sheep’s clothing, but they just look deceptively respectable now.

  • I’d publish their names, addresses, all known phone numbers and email addresses, tax information, education transcripts and credit histories of everyone that worked for that rag. I’d follow that with this message:

“Now that you know I’m strapped, coming around my place isn’t worth your life. However, the people I just described DON’T have weapons, and are willing to wait out police response times.”

  • Gawker. Another Soros funded outfit. I’m not surprised.

  • Biggbear52

in the last 24 hours an additional 4892 laws and 3922 regulations were made all without the people knowing. Much less being a part of. This is un-natural and I am quite sure in some way, unlawful. But then we are under the guise of the most UN-LAWFUL group ever known in the U.S. Heck third world leaders are know joking about how slack our leaders are. Know that friends and neighbors is freaking scary

    • answer1776

Regulation Without Representation. Yeah, I’m not happy about it.

  • answer1776

They would never, never publish a list of pedophiles or rapists.

    • Godisright

That’s because they are not allowed to have guns. LOL!

  • DCGere

This “outing” of legal gun ownership is downright frightening. I live in a very liberal area and am scared to death one of our local papers might do the same thing.

Time for lawsuits for these so-called journalists. They are pulling an Alinsky on steriods now.

  • The comments over at “Gwacker” seem to be of a majority against the idiot who wrote the article. I’m guessing his name and address are already posted online somewhere.

However, there are many gun-grabbing totalitarians there, as well. If they had a decent comment system, I’d go blast ’em. But it looks like a liberal-dominated website that isn’t interested in what YOU think.

  • fishmonster

Love to see them try that bullshit in Texas. Love to see obama try to redo the Constitution but the little socialist can’t and he knows it. To us the liberal left was what smallpox was to the Mayans. What part of “shall not be infringed” do they not understand?

  • Larchmonter

Gays (Gawker) love to “Out” their own, so what’s new? They get a special tingle ratting out, squealing, dropping dimes, “gossiping” and whispering in the other “girls” ears.

At some point, a high velocity round will pierce the leakers’ sanctimony.

Karma will smoke the Gawk geeks.

  • SineWaveII

Way to go. Now we have proof that the compromise that gun-owners made with the left on gun-registration was a huge mistake.
Now we have all the reason to be COMPLETELY OPPOSED to gun registration for any reason.
The left have proven that the information is not safe and will be abused. The NRA and the other 2nd amendment groups need to begin to push for the repeal of all gun-registration laws and to stop any more from being passed.
Message for the republicans: Now do you see why you NEVER compromise with the left, ever, under any circumstances?

  • Expose Gannett

    This is really getting awful

I was born in France few years after the war at a time when everybody – my parents – were still talking about the war constantly. Talking about all the traitors denouncing the jews to the german and the terrible family stories that came from that practice.

It is starting to look like this. Only here people don’t know what it means – to denounce so they do it easily it seems.

This is really really a bad move. An awfully slippery slope that may lead to a war. Neighbors denouncing neighbors to the enemy – that’s what happened in France during WWII.

  • Jay

Just on the first page it seemed like there were a lot of Middle Eastern sounding names. Makes me wonder.

  • NCHokie02

One way to look it at it though is to say thanks….the criminals who now have these addresses now know which people not to rob.

How ironic it was though that once the Journal’s editors addresses were published they hired armed guards yet ordinary citizens can’t skip the guard and arm themselves. Ah the hypocrisy. Laughable.

  • This will encourage more to purchase weapons for protection. Why didn’t I buy some gun maker stocks?

  • What is a Gawker? Never heard of this publication. Did you give them the free publicity they so desire?

  • kong1967

Yet, no one went after the journalists violently. The gun owners are such a-holes that the journalists weren’t afraid to publish their names, even though they are equating them to the Sandy Hook shooter. If that were true, they would have been too afraid to publish the names.
