It’s being reported this morning that a possible new ticket is emerging that would directly challenge Trump in 2020:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper have entertained the idea of forming a unity presidential ticket to run for the White House in 2020, a source involved the discussions tells CNN.
Under this scenario, Kasich, a Republican, and Hickenlooper, a Democrat, would run as independents with Kasich at the top of the ticket, said the source, who cautioned it has only been casually talked about.
“The idea of a joint ticket has been discussed, but not at an organizational or planning level,” said the source, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity. “What they are trying to show the country is that honorable people can disagree, but you can still problem solve together. It happens in businesses and it happens in families. Why can’t it happen in Washington?”
Wow. That sounds absolutely horrible.
There is so much about 2017 that I hate, from Trump’s divisive tweets to the Trump/Anti-Trump division in the Republican party.
But I am so desperate that I’d vote for a Kasich/Hickenlooper ticket? I’m not sure I could pull the trigger on that one yet.
But I can tell you who is ready:
I've got my concerns about Kasich-Hickenlooper–but if it came to it, who seriously doubts they'd be better than Trump or E. Warren?

LOL! Of course.
Also, I can’t escape the notion in my head that a Kasich Hickenlooper ticket would have all the momentum of a 2000 lb boulder trying to roll up hill. They’d make ‘low energy Jeb’ look like an olympic sprinter. Or as John Zeigler puts it:
This proposed Kasich/Hickenlooper "Unity Ticket" is also known by it's secret code name: "Operation Reelect Trump." #Dumb https://t.co/g4vJJoyjv8
