GOOD GUY: 85-year-old veteran. GUN: Under the pillow. VILLAINS: One Dead, One Fled (VIDEO)

The feel-good story of the weekend involves 85-year old Don Lutz, a former member of the military, who was sleeping in his home when it was invaded by two bad guys.

Two bad guys with the bad luck to be in Don Lutz’s house. From WPXI in Pittsburgh:

The 85-year-old man, Don Lutz, was confronted by the intruders about 1:30 a.m. at his Jamison Avenue home, authorities said. An altercation followed.

“I just fired one. It was in the dark. He attacked me and he was up close and I shot him,” Lutz said. “They jumped me and we both went on the floor. I scuffled with them on the floor and the one guy rolled over dead and the other guy, he jumped up and went out the door.”

Police are searching for the second intruder who ran off.

“The other one, maybe the bullet hit him, too. I don’t know. I hope so,” Lutz said.

He told WPXI that he keeps the gun under his pillow. He pulled it and confronted the intruders. There was a scuffle. Lutz pulled the trigger and the bullet ripped through the chest of one of the home invaders. It may have then lodge in the second intruder, who ran off defeated.

A good guy with a gun. What would have happend to Lutz if he hadn’t stopped these criminals were in his home? Who were there targeting him specifically because they believed him to be frail, old and defenseless?

Luckily, this time, we don’t have to find out.
