Even though the judge in Friday’s hearing to impound voting machines denied the request from West’s campaign, St. Lucie County Election officials have agreed to a partial recount of around 37,000 early votes. They are being recounted today and West’s campaign says that is a good start to ensure a fair election process:

FOX NEWS – Election officials in St. Lucie County will recount early votes cast in the hotly contested race for Florida’s 18th district’s House seat between Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West and his challenger, Democrat Patrick Murphy.

The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board announced late Saturday it had set an “emergency meeting” to start at 7 a.m. Sunday at its headquarters, to “recount all ballots cast during early voting.” The number of early ballots is estimated by officials to be roughly 37,000.

West, who has refused to concede the race, is currently trailing Murphy by 2,442 votes, according to the latest results from Florida Division of Elections. On its website, the agency says West has garnered 164,448 votes to Murphy’s 166,890.

“There are possible irregularities in St. Lucie County,” claims Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Florida lawyer volunteering for the West campaign who has been quoted on the issue. “On Sunday we’ll have a chance to recount the early votes and that’s a good start to preserving the integrity of the democratic process.”

West’s campaign said in a Saturday statement it was pleased with the news of the partial recount.

“This decision should help shed light on the situation of this election,” the statement said. “This is the action we were seeking to ensure the results of this election were fair and accurate.”

Even if the results of the partial recount do not change the race, West still has the option to contest the election if misconduct or fraud might have changed its result.

As of this morning, it seems that there is 800 less votes for Murphy and Col. West only trails by .058% instead of .091%, imagine that. Think it might have something to do with the fact more than 100% of the registered voters voted. ;-) ;-)

Bad news, the recount didn't reverse the results enough to prompt a full recount.

Video: Angry crowd reacts to ‘misleading recount’ in Allen West race http://www.bizpacreview.com/video-angry-crowd-reacts-to-results-of-misleading-recount-in-allen-west-race/

Allen West supporters expressed shock in Fort Pierce on Sunday, but not because the finally tally in St. Lucie County’s Congressional District 18 race showed West gaining 201 more votes — but because it was only based on a “cherry picked” partial recount and the supervisor refused to explain why.

[...]

The three days, according to the West team, did not include the time period when questions were raised about faulty technology on election night.

Many on West’s team said they felt the recount was a big show to make it look as if voting irregularities were addressed. The team is still trying to gain access to the voting logs from St. Lucie County, but has been unsuccessful so far.

Where are the spineless republicans. if this were happening to the demoncrats you would here every one of them with the same coordinated response and they would not stop until they had there way. if they dont speak up we will never win another election.

Fraud and deceit.

Only one precinct had less than 113% turnout. The unofficial vote count is 175,554 registered voters 247,713 vote cards cast (141.10% ). The National SEAL Museum, a St. Lucie county polling place, had 158.85% voter turn out, the highest in the county.

When asked about the 141% Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker stated, “They may have had something like that in Palm Beach County, but we’ve never seen that here.”

Review the statement of votes cast in St. Lucie County on November 6, 2012 here.

Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker posted to the SLC Elections website the following:

The CANVASSING BOARD meeting scheduled for the recount on saturday, november 10, 2012 at 7:00 am has been rescheduled for wednesday, november 14, 2012 at 7:00 am at the supervisor of elections office, 4132 okeechobee road mall entrance 2.

So hey, it appears that Rep. Allen West was pretty well justified in calling for ballots and voting machines to be impounded. Of course that request was denied by a Florida judge.

Hers how far ahead of the game I believe the Left is. I think they have many Libs actually registered as Republicans. When it comes to having equal representation at any steop of the way, I think the libs outnumber the right by at least three to one. The best is, I actually think they have the one right leaning representitive (a dope) going to get coffee, paper clips, and pencils when crucial steps are taken in the process. This is how screwed up I think we (the right) have let things become. Far fetched, I don't think so judging from what I've seen and who I know involved locally.

Ensuring integrity of the vote and the voting process is critically important. Democrats will do anything to maintain power look no further than how the health care bill became law with the kickbacks and underhanded Chicago style tactics there. I agree with you that LTC. West election should be the tipping point. When the St. Lucie county supervisor has obtained a lawyer that does indicate to me that something maybe very wrong here. Another indicator is why is it that Patrick Murphy is not concerned about the integrity of each vote and the voting process? Because he, like Elizabeth Warren, lied about their credentials. Murphy said that he is a certified CPA, and he is but not in the State of Florida-in the State of Colorado! So that tells me that he will do anything Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama tells him to remove a man of character and intelligence, like Allen West. Not one time has Allen West lied about who he is. Even with the situation where he used certain tactics to extract information from the enemy, it was still done for the country. Patrick Murphy cannot hold a candle to Allen West. So even if West is not victorious he is now relinquished from the chains of congress to start building his national presence. I can think of a particular seats coming up in Georgia that he may consider. At least he will be going back to his native home, unlike Hilary Clinton and Mitt Romney! He is a force to be reckon with and he is not going away. I’m sure the left and Obama know that. I mean even Barack Obama said “you can’t change Washington from the inside!”

But this debacle in Florida should cause every Governor, particularly in the battleground States, to evaluate the ratio of voters to voter ballots. Having the actual results delayed until 7 days after the voting date is important because this gives time to check for voting inconsistencies. The left may win this battle but they will not win the war, not with Allen West on our side!

We owe over 16 TRILLION dollars on the National Debt and climbing fast. Projected to be around 20 TRILLION by the Morons next end of term.

Just what does anyone think the interest payment is on that? I'll tell you.

For the month of October 2012 the total interest owed by every man woman and child was:

$12,922,741,407.27 That's almost 13 BILLION dollars a MONTH. IN INTEREST ONLY!

What does anyone think happens to that interest payment when interest rates on that debt begin to rise?

This is not Rocket science. It is cold hard fact. Obama is oblivious of budgets. He IS an idiot. And millions of gullible Americans believe a guy that tells them he will cut the deficit when he spent the past 3.5 years adding TRILLIONS to it. unbelievable..

Actually I think millions of Americans are simply too freaking stupid to care. Give them a new cell phone and they are happy.. They just can't be bothered to think about the consequences of an out of control Federal Government.

And they call the Tea Party a bunch of wacko's.. lol, To much ...

The interest rate on our debt will rise sooner or later. it is not a question of IF but of When.

We are then done as in Bankrupt.

Any human being that believes this administration can figure a way out of this is mental.

All you young people and the millions of adult idiots that happily voted for this moron you will live your life paying for your stupidity..

Have a great frackin time...

Exactly - and as soon as Reid and Obama push anew debt ceiling through, wait for the USA being downgraded again, which automatically means higher interest rates on those debts.

Margaret Thatcher's quote wasn't just something she said - she lived through the five years of high debt, ever higher inflation, Union destroying industry and the economy.

Google 'Winter of discontent' ...

She knew exactly what she was talking about, and the left here in the UK still hate her as much as thirty years ago, if not more, and still blame anything going wrong today on her.

Orangeone

Reid has already said a $2.4 Trillion raise is on its way and Barky Boy also promised another downgrade. What do they care, they are millionaires and Reids has 4 years before another election.

I wonder how many people in this country believe that Germans in the WWII era had to buy their food using wheelbarrels full of money. Hyperinflation will hit us and most people won't even understand how it happened. They certainly don't believe it will happen even now.

colliemum
colliemum

Aww, I knew a slip of the finger was the cause, but as I'm a history buff, I didn't want to let it slip.

Btw - what they did in Germany, actually from 1937 onwards, was rationing, which got more and more sever as thew ar went on.

Rationing started here in the UK with the war, but went on until the early 1950s, thanks to the by then entrenched socialist government, accompanied by a huge Black Market.

I'm going to re-read Fergusson's book, because it's looking more and more as if the industrialised nations are already on the slide towards hyperinflation. Scary ...

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

Thanks for the book info. I'll have to read it.

Yeah, I meant the time between the wars. Slip of the finger, and a war is gone, lol. I'm fearful that most people don't even know anymore that there was a WWI. Thanks for the correction.

colliemum
colliemum

There's a great book by Adam Fergusson, called "When Money Dies', and I highly recommend this book.

The hyperinflation in Germany happened after WWI, and slowly gathered speed from 1920, before ended with a drastic re-adjustment by the German government in 1923.

By that time, the middle classes, all with a bit of savings, and especially the elderly who relied on their pensions, had been totally impoverished, if not died outright.

And yes, people did have to use wheelbarrows to get the amount of paper which was 'money' to the shops.

yeah, a PARTIAL recount. What a joke, as if it took weeks to tally up the original votes. Every election should be recounted regardless of the final margin. Whats the problem with recounting every race? Every single suggestion that would make things fairer even the most logical least intrusive suggestion is met with debate by the left. We let it get out of hand when we extended Election day into election week. Just another example of us finding a way to screw up a good thing for the sake of malcontents making a mockery of an easy thing.

kong1967
kong1967

I know, I have half a notion to stop voting. If Republicans want my vote they will get off their butts and seriously push legislation to stop voter fraud. But, doing so will ensure an easier Democrat victory (if others do the same), and Dems will have constant power and never reform anything...and even make it easier to defraud the system.

So I will probably continue to vote in a corrupt and useless system.

anyonebutbarry2012
anyonebutbarry2012

the doj stopped states who wanted voter id law, it had nothing to do with the repubs.;

kong1967
kong1967

I know, but I want even more serious changes. Requiring ID when you vote in person is a good law, but early and absentee voting is where most of the fraud is at. All I see are states continuously extending the time frame to vote. I don't see any changes being proposed by Republicans that would slow down voter fraud with early and absentee voting. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not aware of it.

iaintlyin
iaintlyin

Oh, this was hard for them, I hadn't realized that. It was harder for the OFFICIAL poll watchers to do their job in Florida than it was for the Left to swipe the whole kaboodle. No voting law changes by next election, I go third party. Fool me once.....

kong1967
kong1967

Typically there isn't a third party I'd be interested in voting for. I am not a libertarian and would never vote for one. Romney will probably run again in 2016 and will probaby win the nomination again. We just cannot get a solid conservative past the primaries, probably because Independents get behind the moderate and make it nearly impossible (just a guess).

NJK
NJK

I pulled this from Pamela Gellar's website Atlas Shrugs. It applies to America and the GOP also. Mr. Romney, you didn't honestly lose, you lost because you didn't fight. If the GOP were generals in a physical battle, they'd have everyone killed. They never fight, they wave the flag of surrender before the battle has even begun. I'm ashamed of them. This is why I will never donate a dime to them again. Good grief, how many people died in the Revolutionary War for freedom, and all other wars, and these misfits can't even muster enough courage to insist on a recount. It's becoming a huge embarrassment.

"Ayn Rand said, “the spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles.”

Obama is that vacuum. Counties are still be tallied, but the world knows that America defaulted."

kong1967
kong1967

As far as I know, Romney can't demand a recount unless the votes are very close in a state. Fraud was so high that I'd imagine the lead was beyond that margin in most states....enough states to make a recount in the "close call" states a non-factor. I would imagine if there were enough states within the recount margin that could overcome the electoral college count, Romney would have challenged the close states.

Just a guess.

anyonebutbarry2012

77,000 vote difference in florida, so seems he could have asked for a recount, versus conceding yesterday.

kong1967
kong1967

Well, now I know why you call yourself Wisewoman2. You are right. I didn't even think of that. Actually, now that you have mentioned it, Allen West alluded to the same thing. It's not about him winning the election. It's about people being able to trust our voting system and what we see right before our very eyes looks very corrupt.

Thank you for that enlightenment.

Wisewoman2
Wisewoman2

Kong. You are wrong. It does not matter if the results from FL would or would not have caused a change in the overall election results. If there were the potential for fraud he should have asked for a recount just to put to rest whether fraud occurred. He owed that to his voters. Furthermore if it were proven (unlikely) then it would open the door to questions of whether fraud occurred in other states. Republicans must begin to play the cards they are dealt and not let them slide over to the next election.

kong1967
kong1967

That's true, but it was over the margin that would call for an automatic recount. Romney probably still could have challenged it, but winning Florida would not make a difference in the electoral count. He would gain on Obama by 58 votes, and he still would have lost 303 - 235. The only states fairly close enough to challenge would have been North Carolina (15 votes - lost by 2.2%), Ohio (18 votes - lost by 1.9%) and Virginia (13 votes - lost by 3%). He would have had to win all three of those states plus Florida in a recount. Not likely.
