Purging the roles of non-citizens and those deceased is a federal law. Keeping the voter roles valid and up to date is the responsibility of every state and should be accomplished before every election. The federal judge did nothing more than carry out his sworn duty upholding the law.
Wow, the court upheld a racist purge. At least, that's what Holder and Obama will say.
Once again another judge identifies Holder's interpretation of the law is flawed reflecting he is unfit to serve as Attorney General. Politicizing the law instead of upholding the law IS NOT Holder's job.
This thread on who is a citizen is a real can of worms. So let me throw in another item to muck up the issue a bit more.
Using myself as an example, I'm a US citizen, born in the USA. However, I'm currently living in Israel. Yes, I'm a dual citizen. Have an Israeli driver's license, ID etc. So the only real piece of documentation I've got to show US citizenship is my US passport.
"“Determining citizenship is not as easy as the state would have it,”
Yet the credit card companies can tell in seconds if your card can cover the charge or not. Get the Credit card companies to set up voter id cards. You provide the details they issue the card. You got to vote. You have to have that card. it's scanned, and if it's valid you get to vote. How easy is that?!
This wouldn't even be an issue if Holder wasn't the AG and if Napolitano's DHS would cooperate as it's lawfully obligated to do. Obama, Holder, Napolitano... obstructionist Aholes.
This is a great decision and the right one.
The fun is just beginning. Wait till after about 10AM this morning. Ding dong the witch ain't dead yet but she's melting over slow heat.
When democrats choose to be no-shows at their own convention, you know it's Every- Man-For-Himself-time.
This certainly cramps the Democrats style of voting early and often. With this publicity, it may keep even those non-citizens whose names are still on the rolls from turning out. But, the number of "vampires" who wander from their graves in Chicago to the polls is a far greater problem than those undead voters in Florida. Purging the voter rolls in Illinois might even turn the state RED!
Kudos to the sane and sensible Judge Hinkle. We need a few more like him sitting on the Ninth Circuit Court.
"Determining citizenship is not as easy as the state would have it..."
Right. It took Obama what, two years, to come up with what he purports to be proof of his citizenship, and he is in the White House.
This is good news but Obama will probably use executive power to over-ride the legislative branch....since he thinks he's king anyway.
"Determining citizenship is not as easy as the state would have it..."
Um, no, let me show you just how easy it is:
1) You are mandated to apply for and obtain a state issued Personal ID within 90 days of entering the country legally.
2) In order to vote, present said ID to the state's Registrar of Voters office to prove citizenship 90 days before casting a vote.
3) If you do not have a voter ID, you cannot prove citizenship and cannot vote.
See how easy that is?
Why are politicians so stupid??? That's the biggest question of all!
We could issue national ID cards to citizens. Does anyone oppose national ID cards?
Drivers licenses are essentially national id cards. They're just issued by your own state. They are still good anywhere in the continental US when presented as an ID card! I would bet so are other government issued personal ID cards.
But like Sober_Thinking says, a Voter ID card is practical and noninvasive and should be required to prove identity when voting.
If you're a criminal, you'll hate the idea (liberals and illegals fall into this category), but if you're legal, what is there to fear?
I'd like to see a voter I.D. card, issued by a non partisan, independent, private company, that has a picture, a thumb print, and crtical identification information in one of those new, square bar code symbols... if everyone had that and had to replace it every 2 years or so to update information, we'd have less of a problem. The issuing company could help to maintain validity and accuracy. Make it manditory nationwide.
This is the clearest proof yet that the Obama/Holder administration along with the Democrat party is actively working to subvert and corrupt the electoral process and is suing to allow known fraudulent votes to be counted in electing American governmental officials including the President himself. They know exactly what they are doing and they are doing it with specific intent. They are actively working and suing in favor of voter fraud.
Hello Abbs! Keep on giving 'em heck on the other site! I've been reading over your shoulder on occasion. You are doing a great job, my friend. Ask our friend Sparrow to visit over here at Scoop and let her know I'm not dead! I've got some projects I'm working on and it takes a lot of my time. Be well Abbs! VG
“Determining citizenship is not as easy as the state would have it" Which is why Florida has been requesting help from Washington with the data base... but we all know how well that's worked out.
Good for this judge.
I called the registrars office to inquire about registering my mother to vote in FL and they said they could mail the form. I asked, "doesn't she need a birth certificate to prove she's a citizen?" and the response was, "no, she just needs to check that she's a citizen on the form."
GRRRR - what is wrong with this state and country???? I submit that a good way to purge the current voter list is for everyone to show up with proof of citizenship papers (birth certificate, passport, naturalizaion papers) at time of voting. Having a voter's registration card means nothing if it was obtained with just declaring to be a citizen and not ever haven proven it with proper documentation. I was never asked for physical proof of citizenship when I registered to vote 36 years ago, but at least I took my voter registration oath seriously, unlike so many crooks.
Sad to see "the system" not working.
