Holder plays race card, West fires back

In an interview with the NY Times over the weekend Eric Holder decided to play the race card against those who are questioning his motivations:

DAILY CALLER – Attorney General Eric Holder accused his growing chorus of critics of racist motivations in a Sunday interview published in the New York Times. When reached by The Daily Caller Monday morning, the Department of Justice provided no evidence to support the attorney general’s claims.

Holder said some unspecified faction — what he refers to as the “more extreme segment” — is driven to criticize both him and President Barack Obama due to the color of their skin. Holder did not appear to elaborate on who he considered to make up the “more extreme segment.”

This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder said, according to the Times. “Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.

Allen West responded by saying that what Holder said was reprehensible but also showed how weak their ground is:

DAILY CALLER – Florida Republican Rep. Allen West told The Daily Caller on Monday that Attorney General Eric Holder’s use of the race card as a way to attack those who are criticizing him is “reprehensible.”

I think this is absolutely the last card in the deck, and that shows how weak their ground is,” West said in a phone interview. “But, what that means is they want to make white individuals afraid of continuing to put the pressure on Eric Holder because they don’t want to be seen as racist, and that is something that we have got to move beyond.” …

West said Holder can’t logically assign race as a motivation behind the criticisms for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious. “What Fast and Furious has to do with is misleading the Congress and the American people about what you knew about this program, and if you did not know anything about this program, then who’s in charge of the Department of Justice?” West said. “It has nothing to do with your race — it has everything to do with competence, with your character and with your ability to lead the Department of Justice.

West said Holder’s use of race as a way to attack his critics is “the most insidious thing I ever heard.”

Allen West puts his money where his mouth is…I love the man.

Thank you God for Allen West.

  • 98% of what Stedman Holder does is racially motivated , so any accusation leveled against him can only be racially motivated . This is the same exact tactic the Left uses for everything , accuse your opponent of what you’re doing or have done .
Let’s not forget what J. Christian Adams said about the item Stedman carries in his wallet about being black above all else .

  • “I think this is absolutely the last card in the deck, and that shows how weak their ground is,” Excellent point Rep. West!

I wasn’t aware that treason, criminality and stupidity was a race issue. Silly me. But then again, I volunteer to keep the heat turned up. After all, everyone knows what a racist I am, and I could care less about being called one.

All of those and more are race issues

America needs to grow up and put a stop to this race card nonsense. Not us, but the crowd it’s directed at. It’s amazing to me that they still believe it even though it obviously has no merit in almost all the cases.

Good point. This is probably direct at shoring up their base. The guilty white vote.

    Cowards eh Eric?

You are nothing more than a two-bit thug with a law degree who has been hiding behind your race and a corrupt media your entire pathetic career.

And I don’t give a damn what color your sorry ass is.

    • Joe

One bit – not worth two bits

The race card is a very unique thing. When you play it you are, in effect, accusing people of looking at you in a certain unpleasant way, a way that says they have preconceived negative notions of your character, intelligence and motivations. If those people indeed do have questions in these areas based on experience, playing this card reinforces these feelings. If those people do not have negative feelings, playing the race card insults their intelligence and creates those negative feelings. It is a lose-lose proposition to do so and by doing so shows a lack of character, intelligence and a questionable motivation.

Eric Holder said we were a nation of cowards because we wouldn’t talk about. Who’s the coward now Holder? Hiding behind your race to cover up for your crimes and lies.

“it has everything to do with competence, with your character and with your ability to lead the Department of Justice.” Make him eat it Allen!

I wish Allen West was running for President…

    • Anonymous

Ditto! It would make my decision between Newt and Perry a joke!

West might start to win back the Tea Party IF he can keep the drumbeat going over this whole issue AND THEN get Holder impeached. Otherwise, methinks West needs to rethink what he stands for IF he can’t get something that elementary done.

“Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”

So they are Gay & African American? Who knew?

  • Sometimes the race card can be valid, but mostly it is desperation.

    • I can’t recall a time the race-card was played and I thought it was a valid point.

      • Anonymous

You can’t recall it Brian because it has never been a valid point. It is the last fall back possistion of a loser, regardless of skin color, my friend.

    • KenInMontana

The “race card” is never valid, and it is always played in desperation.

  • It heartens me to see Col. West take another position on which we agree. I have a great respect for him, despite not always agreeing with him. He would make a fine addition to the Executive branch in one of many capacities.

  • Thank you Allen West. Luv ya!

    Great man!!

  • Allen West is one of the most confusing men in Congress. On one hand, he has an iron fist when dealing with people who use race cards and fear mongering to push a socialist agenda, not to mention the fact that he calls Islam what it is, our enemy. Then he turns around and votes for weak or destructive fiscal bills that are completely opposite to the smaller, constitutional government that he ran on.

I honestly believe that he’s a good man, but he’s definately NOT going to help save this nation from its own bad habits.

  • Just do what I do. When someone calls you a racist, just say, “So what? Where do we go from here?” Usually throws them off-guard.

  • Anonymous

As always, the last refuge of a loser, playing the race card. Play it and you are admitting that you are defeated and can’t stand on your own two feet. Loser!

  • This is the next Ronald Reagan. As somebody who lived under the Reagan presidency I can say with confidence: nobody else comes close.

I hope this man decides to run. Gingrich is gone and people are flocking to Crazy Uncle Ron Paul. This would be a disaster.

If this isn’t a critical time when his country needs him then what is?

  • Sick him Allen! LOL

From the racism we have seen from the obama regime…

Race may have been an issue because if Holder were another race he probably would have been in jail for treason for his actions against America.

That being said, I do appreciate Allen West’s comments about this issue but I am very disturbed by West’s voting for the bill that gives the president the right to arrest American citizens w/out due process and for an indefinite amount of time.

West, like the other politicians that voted in favor of this bill, have betrayed our Constitution and the American people.

  • The slippery slope of giving one class of people special rights over other classes of people is becoming increasingly apparent with Holder justice basically ignoring the rule of law, made even worse by his being in the position to represent justice in the USA. This man should never have been confirmed and he needs to be impeached. He lies, he is a political hack, and his policies have made a mockery out of the basis for justice in our country…the rule of law.

Justice has become a myth under Holder, we are all held hostage over false charges of racism, due to the leftist controlled liberal media normalizing the politically correct agenda in order to facilitate the progressive ideology at the expense of truth, justice and the American way.

Between Fast & Furious, the voter intimidation case not prosecuted, and all the rest of the shenanigans, there is no legitimate reason this man should still hold this critical position in OUR government.

  • Allen West in one of only a few sane voice in a sea of insanity.

  • Anonymous

I loved him til he voted away our right to due process.

    • Anonymous

      My thoughts as well, S958.

  • Anonymous

I literally am speechless at Holder’s statement. Surely he knows there are black people out there who DESPISE him also, not just white folk. Are we ‘racist’ too?!

  • Had the pleasure of meeting Col.West and shaking his hand, then I volunteered for him on the phone banks.
    A very good man…………..

    • Anonymous

But why did he vote to take away our due process?

  • Eve

He’s got nothing else in defense, this was his only choice. It is ridiculous that he still has his job. Allen West has it right, it has everything to do with competence.

Is there an expert in politics available?

I forget. Do you play the race card before you look like an mentally-ill criminal or immediately thereafter?

I mean, is playing the race card a defensive strategy or is it generally believed to be offensive?

In the race game, we know who the players are but how do you get to be the dealer?

    • Anonymous

      Great point, WFM.

    • Anonymous

WFM, I’m not an expert in politics but I do have random thoughts.

-Looking like a mentally ill criminal has nothing to do with playing the race card;it means you’re a liberal-Democrat.

      -Used defensibly but is offensive.

-How do you get to be the dealer? Get a government job in a department that sounds something like…..The Department of Pigment Differential Equality.

  • bobemakk

Obama and Holder, the only defense is the “race issue.” What BS. Thank God for Allen West, maybe some great and smart republican will pick him as his VP to rid of the Obama regime.

  • Anonymous

I am pissed off because I can never use the race card. I can only use my credit card and the green card…..really pissed off!

  • Anonymous

Holder got this one really wrong. We are attacking him because of the color of his hair, salt and pepper, like Obama’s. So, he should actually use the “hair card”.
